When I was stationed in Germany in the 70's I had a series 2. A Fiat mechanic sold me a high performance engine for it and helped me install it. Big difference in power over the base engine. It had dual weber carbs. It would fly on the autobahn. I have great memories of driving in Germany.
Hey Kiri brother ! Great to see you posting again my friend !! These Fiats were on the roads when I was in Italy with my family decades ago now ..My Dad worked as a management trainer and often went to Bella Italia ! ..I love the exhaust note these cars give off ! Cheers to you my friend !!
I DID OWN ONE AND TO BE HONEST I LOVED THE CAR IT WAS ONE VERY GOOD CAR AND WHEN I GOT MARRIED THAT DRIVE FROM MY NCK OF THE WOODS TO NIAGARA FALLS ONTARIO I GET 650 MILES ON ONE TANK OF GAS STILL HAD GAS TO KEEP GOING BUT TO BE ON SAFE SIDE I FILLED UP AT 650 MILES ONE TANK FULL I LOVED THAT CAR THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER HAD AT THAT TIME AND IF I COULD BUY ANOTHER I WOULD. THANK YOU
Looks are in the eye of the beholder of course, the series 1 is generally regarded as the prettiest of the 124 coupes , although I quite like the series 2. In the handling department, the series 1 is undoubtedly the finest of the 124 coupes. The later cars were slightly heavier but had more understeer built in to the suspension set up . Although still excellent by comparison to other RWD cars
Hi I'm 52 from the UK.....my stepdad had two series 3's in the late 70's but they both rusted to dust I'm afraid! Only one left on UK roads now. Wonderful car!
Hi Kiri…As an Italian I can't help but thank you for uploading this great interpretation of the Fiat 124, a car that I have always admired and which still always surprises me in all its forms... Coupé , sports coupé, or spider is always delicious! Thanks again!
Nice informative video. I owned a series 1 in the early 70's that was fitted with Abarth exhaust. It was a magnificent vehicle with seductive exhaust note.
This is a beautiful car, I saw a white one at the Hever Castle car event a few years ago, and it looked brilliant. Growing up in the early 70's our family had a Fiat 850 Coupe which was a bit smaller and rear engined but with similar design cues, how my Dad was able to fit in a family of 5 in God only knows.
Hi Kiri! I hope your new year 2024 has started great! The 2nd series is in my opinion looking the sportiest. But the 1st series is the most beautiful one - the front end design also evolved later with the 124 Spider which is still one of the most beautiful roadsters. The grill on the 3rd series is looking a bit awkard to me but I like the tail lights although the 2nd series is looking sportier in this case. With the narrow C-pillar the 124 Coupe is looking very roomy due to the big windows. Interesting details about the engineering. Twin overhead cam in 1967, first mass produced engine with rubber timing belt, four disc brakes. Nowadays such sporty engines are more something appearing with the Abarth badge at Fiat. Unfortunately they left out some cars like the 2015 Tipo. The Fiat Tipo Sport also only has 120 horse powers but lots of optical tuning stuff. I wished they also could have used something like for the Abarth 124 Spider or better the Abarth 695 also into the modern Tipo. My guess is that Stellantis will keep on the current level and here and there a sportier Fiat under the Abarth badge. But for sure keeping them away to compete against Alfa Romeo. But it's alright. Although I wished they also could offer again something like the old Spiders. Have you seen pictures of the new Lancia Ypsilon? It seems like it's becoming a very nice looking design - loving the rear end design. The front end is well, I like it but it's not the best looking. But for sure my heart beats more for classics.
Thank you very much for your kind comment. I see the new lancia it’s very interesting and I think they need to bring back the old style but in new form. Thank you 😊
