I loved the attention given to Lin in these episodes and 'low-stakes' drama that took place. It felt well written and I feel like I know so much more about the characters in such a short amount of time. Enjoy :)

thank god you recognized zaheer. you’d be surprised on how many people completely missed it for multiple episodes 😂
Some prefer shape-shifting as an explanation
spartan and pudgey lol, love them
@@damdigames3015 😂😂😭
😂😂
@@damdigames3015I’ll never get over how funny that was😂😂😂
@20:57 is when Kya reminds you that she's not just Aang's daughter, she's Katara's daughter too.
I love the fact that she seemed to hold her own against Zaheer in that fight. I know Kya was trained to be more of a healer but we have to remember the her mother was Katara.
The fact that you understood Lynn, before even knowing her story, really moved me. It really was trauma, and so many people are so easy to jump against her, even though we’ve gotten to know her, and know she’s not THAT rude, she has to have a reason. Great job seeing trauma where it is.
Excellent point about Zaheer, been waiting for someone to highlight it: he has a very aggressive, military-like approach to airbending. Through the gates you must flow like a leaf, do spiral movements, instead he dives in strategically, like a soldier.
Zaheer is not an air master, he is not even a super good bender. He just combines his previous skills of marcial arts with air.
Exactly, he's a master of martial arts. By adding airbending to his movements, he is able to overcome most opponents. Most people don't know how to fight an airbender still, as they are extremely rare. Due to this, he can easily gain the upper hand thanks to their inexperience, compounded with his martial arts skill.
spoilers for korra
if im not wrong he taught himself airbending to be korras master in the red lotus
Nonono, he specifically studied airbender culture - so he probably learned how to do airbending movements. And now he just repeats them - but with proper effects :)
I love how they represented real families by having kids raising their kids differently from their parents
It's really annoying and shallow how many people I've met who hate LoK simply because the creators didn't deify the main cast from Avatar.
Although I’m sure Toph wasn’t being intentional, neglectful parenting often leads to the “parental” sibling (often the older siblings) and the rebellious sibling dynamic. A lot of people who have never had to “raise” their younger siblings didn’t really understand Lin’s frustrations.
Su also pretty likely got the lion’s share of the family fortune. Su living with their grandparents isn’t a punishment, it’s basically a reward.
@@bensonfang1868 I never thought about that before!
@@bensonfang1868 Is it, though? Considering how strict they were with Toph and how much Su hated rules at that point? Maybe Su would have gotten it a little better than Toph since she isn't blind, but still.
I sdtill don't get why Lin forgave her. She literally didn't even asked for forgivness, so she doesn't deserve any. She is representation of unfairness of the world, which should be super annoying gor someone like Lin, who is about rule and fairness.
@@LSG101097 It was making Lin too bitter. It caused her to lash out at Opal, who was an innocent in all this, and at Korra. And Su does apologize to Lin, though you're right, she doesn't ask to be forgiven. I think Lin was just tired of being so angry about it, and needed to recognize Su is not the same obnoxious kid she was decades ago. Forgiveness is not about what someone deserves, it's about what the forgiver needs.
Varrick is basically a startup bro
You: Avatar state!
Me (In girly Voice): Yip yip!
You recognised Zaheer after 10 seconds. That is a reactors record...
Yeah, sometimes I feel like some of the reactors are fake
I think it makes a lot more sense why Kya attacked Zaheer immediately when you remember 1. Sokka, her UNCLE, died fighting him, 2. Her niece was like 5 steps down the hall, and 3. Nobody ever knew what Zaheer's intentions were. She doesn't know why he's there or what he might do if she delays her reaction by even a second, and is hardly the type to risk more of her family dying by his hands just for the sake of a more subtle approach.
She is also a VERY competent waterbender, with backup not far away, while even with his skills, he is still a new airbender. She miscalculated just how skilled he was, but it more than makes sense for her to think she + the white lotus could take him, and to go with that rather than risk him doing something when she had her back turned
Sokka was never confirmed to be killed by Zaheer, that's a theory/headcanon. We know he was involved protecting Korra from Zaheer, but not that he died by his hand. A very plausible head canon, wouldn't be surprised if that was true, but still. The other points are accurate.
I, along with many others, can relate with Lin.
As someone who comes from an extremely abusive and troubled household, I also would shut people out and keep them at arms distance. Any time I was shown genuine kindness, I had a tendency to “run”. I felt as if I wasn’t deserving of unconditional love and allowed my own bitterness and sadness control my relationships.
Seeing how she’s able to deal with her emotional trauma, physical trauma and heal in a therapeutic way; it’s a realistic story that I’m sure others see themselves in.
I agree, but I side with Lin for different reason:
Everybody is actually being obnoxious and rude to her. Her sister could have told reason why Lin ignores her, herself, what is the deal here. Tell everybody how she participated in crime, made a scar on Lin's face, etc etc. But no, she just rhetorically redirects it at Lin and presents whole situation as Lin overreacting and bitterful. Korra's remarks - no comments, this girl has negative emotional intellect (that's her character arc, so it's okay). Everybody else - also goddamn annoying. Especially this mind-reading guy - why didn't they disclose that he is a lover of Lin's sister from the beginning? If he is doing some sort of mental therapy session - then it creates conflict of interests. You would not want to do therapy with your sister's spouce, wth, it should be someone who don't have any other interactions with you outside therapy, that is essential for proper patient-doctor relationship.
I mean, from general perspective - a person has the rights to remain angry for an event that left prominent scar on her face. And just in general, she can be rude and angry if she wishes to. It's not like they are on vacation - Zaheer is on the hunt right now, and they should stay alerted and vigilant, instead of doing hippie stuff at this scuffed Wakanda. Yet everybody ignores her, and instead tries to go in her head without permission. She doesn't want to talk about it - end of discussion. You cannot force it out of her, it's not an interrogation.
@@Sornemus
"a person has the rights to remain angry for an event"
Yeah, maybe. And I totally get why Lin's still so very much angry at her sister.
But the way she snaps at her niece who does not want "get in her head" (she just wants to get to know her aunt) is excusable.
It might be understandable but it's still wrong and mean - the girl didn't do anything wrong.
Therefore, I'm happy Lin apologized to her and acknowledged that she treated her niece unfairly.
Fight choreography in this book is on another level! Can’t wait for the remaining 7 episodes
wow he recognized Zahir instantly, impressive.
I didn't imagine it's possible not to recognize him
It's the same villain, with the same face, and the same voice, acting suspicious
well, i was too young to notice that when i first watched. but from what I've seen from reaction RUclipsrs, it takes until the "be a leaf" part for them to figure it out.
At 2:30, when you say "that's kinda cute tho" YES. Avatar does this so well - they humanise the villains! I love in Atla and in tlok when they add those little human moments to soldiers/ villains. It's so good!!
FRR
Shame they didn’t humanise Ozai
@@mranima748i could see those picturesque flashbacks from zuko on the beach episode as it. he seemed like such a genuine father then, perhaps because he was away from that generational trauma azulon gave him
One of the advantages that airbenders have is that other than Aang, Tenzin, and Tenzin's kids there weren't any other airbenders so virtually no one would know how to fight them.
Also, there's no way to block air,
Didn't King Bumi block or redirect air when battling Aang?
Guru Lahima lived several hundred years ago. And there are probably some historical records about airbenders over the world.
Ancient romans lived thousands of years ago - but we still know how they fought (armor, formations, etc).
About the faces combustionbenders pull is because of how firebending works - power in firebending comes from the breath, so when they're about to combustonbend, they're actually inhaling as much air as they possibly can in order to refocus it back out through their forehead chakra as explosive energy.
Lyn was a rather harsh character from the start and I think that there has been a need of an explanation at least, so I was happen when I reached this part. I always liked her but this made her more relatable.
And yo find out why she didn't want children. She was basically parentified, as she was the one raising her sister. She already had a child in a way... and the worst years.
@@lilunette9319 Yes - I think this represents some very good writing.
LEGEND OF KORRA VIDEOS SHOULD BE AN HOUR LONG!!!! My opinion. Whatever you do, I very much enjoy watching your reactions! I just wa- NEED MORE!!!
That's on Patreon, my dude :)
@@Sornemus yes but I just mean in general. All the time. In any format. I would do unspeakable things for a well told, hour long episode, full lives of Aang and Korra. Just in everything! I love the world of Avatar!
@@Sornemus and that’s like reactions too. I just think they should last forever. lol I’m greedy!!!
Huge Lyn development here. But that burn of why Tenzin broke up with her was wild and personal since we know it took a lot to leave that in the past. Remember she was hostile with Korra because she had resentment from Tenzin and the relation him and Korra have.
I know Zaheer and P'Li are villains, but i love their romance! 😊💕
the reason su n toph are in the wrong is because they neglected lins part of the story n never apologised for what happened all they say is that THEY talked things out
lins biggest sin in this arc? popping nagas ball >:o
I'm always going to be on Lin side
a lot of people underestimate airbenders' capabilities. we saw how adept Aang was as an air bender, but many just chalked that up to him being the Avatar. Airbenders are also underestimated because of their pacifist/ defensive way of life. Zaheer is a case study of an Aribender who is not pacifist and cherry picks the spiritual aspects that suit his worldview
I love Lin's story in this season so much
It's crazy how a child can do all that... she wasn't a little girl anymore and she's also super mega duper rich.
Great reaction!!! okay so since you were wondering - basically Zaheer was already a martial arts expert which is why he's such a good bender bc he uses that to bend air, it gives him a unique style which nobody else has. Kya is a master indeed but she's a master in healing, much like Katara she really holds her own in a fight but her specialty is healing bending so that's why she might be a master but not for fighting. lots of love
Fun fact: while p'li isn't related to Azula, Ming Hua is voiced by Azula!
15:36 if it's inspired by harmonic convergence, then it's probably Vatuu/Raava
P'Li is such a badass, all of these villains are but she was always my fave
She’s really awesome and her voice actress does such a great job. Her lines are chilling even when she’s not being menacing lol
i just KNOW Suyin is Sokka's daughter. I mean, look at her kids. Huan (the artist) is the spitting image of Sokka. So Toph and Sokka... what you been up to?
What about Varrick, he is much more similar to Sokka
@@mranima748 in personality sure
Not 100% certain, but I think that has been disproven by the creators; or it was disproven in the comics they later did.
10:40 “man someone’s gotta deal with her (the earth queen)”. Watch what you wish for, Oscar😂😂
Let's not spoil reactor's videos?
A vague spoiler is still a spoiler. Try not to spoil
Please delete this comment :)
Fun fact: Appropriately, young Su is voiced by Toph's og actress!
Old Wounds is one of my favorite episodes of this show, my second favorite is season 4 episode 10
Tbf i wouldnt call him completely "himself" when hes trying to woo korra. Specifically when hes rambling on about how much he loves water tribe food it comes accross kind of fakey
I love the Avatar universe! Also I think a movie you would like is Ready Player One.
It's not that one child, Toph, managed to do all this. Toph lived a long time. Toph has been an adult longer than she's been a child
You were saying that Jenora looks like Aang. She clearly does but you know who she also looks like, Ty Lee. Chi blocker circus friend of Azula's turned Kioshi Warrior in Last Airbender. Ready for theory, not mine. There is a thought that Ty Lee's family was once part of the Air Nation. When the Airbenders were wiped out, their non-bending citizens became refugees, and settled all over, including in the Fire Nation.
Also, speaking of Azula. When this season premiered, a part of me was hoping the fourth member was going to be Azula. Don't get me wrong I like P'li and her skills, but I wonder what could have been
I've also seen theories that Pema, the kids' mother, is Ty Lee's daughter, to further explain the similarities, and Ty Lee's recessive airbending genes also explain why all 4 of the kids ended up airbenders when it seems statistically improbable otherwise.
I also feel like Ikki's general...Ikki-ness especially makes sense if her genetics have both Aang and Ty Lee in the play, lol
Well all air nation individuals were airbenders, but I do think some just hid and never airbended again, had families and since their kids weren’t connected to air bending spirituality, never gained airbending. Another thing is that we suspect many of the new airbenders are descendants of survivors of the genocide, but it’s also possible they have ancestors from the air nation from way before the genocide that lost connection to airbending
@frost5125 This too. Kyoshi's mother is basically proof of exactly that happening pre-genocide. Also we already know air nomads don't have much to do with raising their kids anyway, so for all their 'spiritual enlightenment' stuff I feel like they wouldn't be all that above 'sowing their wild oats' when need be.
@@frost5125 true. Again, this is just a theory I've heard. Definitely didn't come from the creators at all.
One of the things I like is the subtlety of what's really bothering Lin is that she's envious of Sue. In her mind she's done everything "right" in her life while her sister has done everything "wrong". Despite that, Lin is alone and miserable while Su has a loving husband, a good family with countless children, a big house and wealth.
You are an amazing and careful reactor, love you ❤
I love you reaction Legend of Korra
I love how your so unphased by the dragon getting blown up and praising Pli🥲
I did not “praise” her mate 😆 just baffled by her power.
The dragon is fine, you make it sound like it died
It’s wierd toph never taught Aang metal bending especially since she was his earth bending teacher.
🤷🏽♂️
or maybe he just wasn’t able to learn.
earth was always what he struggled with the most, and they said in tlok that only 1 in 100 earth benders can metalbend. It would make sense that aang wasn't one of them since he had a hard time with the element.
she did in the comics. he wasnt able to
In the comics he did try but couldn’t. Korra is just stronger than Aang and negs him.
So with your commentary on airbending, I don't think there is a clear strongest element or master of an element. Airbending is unique in the position that they for the course of the shows have clear advantages as few people have had the chance to face an airbender, particularly in combat. Since an airbender can study an earth, fire, or water bender, but the inverse isn't easily true, it naturally gives them an advantage.
We don't know much about Kya's youth, but it is likely she is one of the only people in the world (at the time) to potentially train against two airbenders, Tenzin and her father. She isn't a warrior, but she clearly knew how to handle herself against an airbender, unlike the majority of people in the world.
Everyone grab youre hot cocoa! It’s reaction time!🎉

I actually side with Lin here. Everybody is being obnoxious and rude to her. Her sister could have told reason why Lin ignores her, herself. How she participated in crime, made a scar on Lin's face, etc. But no, she just pointed arrows at Lin and presented whole vibe as Lin overreacting and bitterful. Interesting take. I do think after 30ish years of attempting to mend their relationship as Lin’s sister mentions, it’s unfair that she is so rude as a guest in her home. So idk about this “she has a right to be rude” thing since her sister is actually being such a welcoming host and tried her best for SO long to make up and heal their family. And the only reason everyone is pushing her so hard to be honest and vulnerable is because she keeps bringing down their meal times and was mean to her niece, Opal. I hear what you’re saying, but having the right to be rude to everyone as a guest because of something you’re upset about decades ago is like a child’s tantrum. The whole episode (even the writers) address she’s behaving poorly and that she needed to get over the situation and see her sister had changed and is worth being in relationship with. Saying she’s in the right from the writers point of view objectively makes her character arc useless.
