  • One of my best dives was when I saw the Glenn Nusa wreck for the first time.
We positioned our boat on the surface aligning Gili's 3 antennas, checked the current and jumped into the deep.
We descended to 26m, seeing nothing but blue all around us, until we saw the bottom of the sea.
The first thing we saw was 3 stingrays waiting for us, so I took out my camera and started recording.
We swam for about 5 minutes across a plain and rather desert terrain and then we saw it: a 22m long black wreck faded in in the horizon, the Glenn Nusa.
The Glenn Nusa is a retired tug boat that was sunk intentionally in 2016 to create a new dive spot for recreational divers.
The boat was surrounded by a vast ecosystem of fishes, most of them bigger than what you would find in Gili's others dive spots. I remember seeing the fishes swimming in a swirl, it was amazing.
We stayed there until our dive computers kicked us out to avoid a decompression stop.
I loved it so much that I wanted to return. And I did return.
The next time the current was very strong and we couldn't find it, we drifted away. So I tried again, and that time I found it. We took torches and we dove inside the wreck. Seeing the true colours product of our torches contrasted with the bright blue/green light coming from the boat's hatch was the most beautiful experience I've ever had underwater. That time I didn't film for safety reasons.
