    I worked in the sex industry most of my life on and off. I never had a pimp, but knew and worked with many girls who did. TBH so many girls who didn’t have pimps made ridiculous amounts of money and had nothing to show for it. No car, staying with whoever or in hotels. Drug habits etc.
    The girls who did have pimps always seemed happier. They had a home , car, clothes...everything they needed. It’s like they needed someone to tell them what to do because they were never taught how to do it themselves. I don’t know the answer as to why or good vs evil. Just what I observed.
    Never once did I see a girl forced into the life.

      Thank you for this comment. I believe this subculture is very misunderstood, partly because there are so many abusive hustlers taking advantage of vulnerable women. It’s a very confusing world these people live in. The women often come from families where abuse was just accepted or endured. That leads these women to seek out similar treatment as adults, but sometimes these men truly help and guide their girls. Probably not in ways that everyone would approve of, but certainly better than their alternatives given their upbringing. There’s a wide range of what I’m calling “pimps” and some are pure evil and some do good by their girls. These men use charisma and other skills to attract women into their world, but to simply condemn and hate them ensures that nothing will ever change.

      hmmm it's an interview so the guy who is interviewing him asks questions to know more about the person who's interviewd... an interview is actuly a monologue. not a dialogue, because it's not a conversation

    • @ShadesAndBoots
      @ShadesAndBoots 3 года назад +94

      @@szsz8177 Oh, is that how an interview works? A person asks questions and another person answers?
      Interesting, bc that's definitely not the same thing as a monologue. "Mono" meaning 'one' and "logue" meaning 'speech', as in: a speech given by one.
      An interview is a form of dialogue, where questions are asked in hopes to receive answers and knowledge.
      Moreover, my comment was referring to ppl in his everyday life. I wasn't saying he was monologuing *here* just implying he has a lot to say about a lot of subjects. Don't try to correct someone if you don't know what you're talking about.

    • @szsz8177
      @szsz8177 3 года назад +4

      @@ShadesAndBoots yes i know what monologue means. I always thought that when you interview someone, it's because you're interested in how this person thinks and you wanna learn more about his mindset, lifestyle or whatever the questions are about etc. so FROM one person TO another and not in both sides.
      ooow okey i got it oke oke now i understand you more about 'monologuing here' but i think you can't know this because it's an inverview, so answeres are asked and he answeres that's how it works no? So i don't think you can take this as a reference to how he would be in real life because i think everyone is like that in an interview, so that will mean that everyone has an monologue with people around him in real life??

      @@nextlvlroyYou just displayed how blissful ignorance really is. No shade to you at all, tho. He “enjoys” it because it’s all he’s ever known. He doesn’t know what it’s like to grow up with both parents, or to hang out with friends his age before during or after school and do regular kid shit, or to be on a sports team, or fill out job/college applications, or anything even seemingly normal. Just like how someone who *has* experienced all of that can say that gang members, drug dealers, pimps, or anyone from a bad neighborhood all live “cool, luxurious lives.” Ain’t nothin cool or luxurious about them or their lives, they just gotta put on a certain image/persona to survive in their game. Deep down, this dude’s probably got a lot of regrets, short-comings, and a helluva lot of demons. Dude came from the underbelly of society, just like me. And I can tell you with a heavy ass heart that it’s not as fun as it’s portrayed on social media. It’s not fun to see people you grew up with go to prison, get killed, or wind up homeless or dead cuz they’re hooked on drugs. It wasn’t fun to be kept up all night with gunshots right outside the window or be on a neighborhood lockdown cuz someone was found with a knife in his throat just up the block.
      He was lucky to make it out by doing shady shit, I was lucky to make it out by staying in school and keeping my head straight. That’s just how it ends: luck. Whether it’s good or bad, that’s what it comes down to. But in no way is it something to admire. I’m not looking for pats on the back or anything, and I doubt he is either, but regardless it’s just not something that should be celebrated. From an outsider’s perspective, anyone would think that Sharp is living some typa fucked up dream, but to most people who also got the chance to live like that, it’s gotta be some of the darkest and loneliest shit to have to go through just to make some money and flex on everybody.

    IDC what anyone says, this dude got a lot of heart. Everyone wants to avoid the reality behind the title but that just shows how much you can't stomach what you don't know, and so then why your opinion is irrelevant. When you have limited options, you survive in anyway possible or you get trampled on. And if you can't sell your dream, you don't get to live it. Nothing but respect for this dude. Big energy. He became a man with only this idea of who he could be to go off of hella young, and lesser men/women are going to either be inspired or intimidated. You couldn't hold a conversation with the guy, let alone have the right to knock him. Period!

      If you want to talk about facts. If you're raising an environment and told that this is the way you make something happen, and you're an influential child, you're going to use those means to leverage yourself. You think at 40 years old somebody's going to say I'm going to stop pimping now and they haven't been shot or something terrible didn't happen to them following the thought.
      This man is a product of his environment and an American upbringing. I challenge you to tell me any different if you take anyone individual and throw them in the same situation and have the exact same things happen to them in their life. We are subject to our surroundings. If you think any different you really need to go back to school.

    It’s interesting how compassionate we are when children of neglect and abuse grow of to be victims. However, when the child grows up and becomes a perpetrator, we forget that they were also a victim. One becomes a victim (to drugs, violence, etc) the other turns to victimizing. Same horror story all beginning with a childhood that no child deserved.
    This man did not have a healthy attachment to his mother. He can never love a woman or himself. It’s all so sad. Childhood abuse and neglect is a public heath crisis that needs to be addressed.

    For everyone/anyone commenting that this man isn’t being real, you likely have never known or been related to anyone from the streets. One of my older brothers spent the majority of his adult life in prison, and listening to this dude reminds me of many conversations with my older brother. When you inhabit a world that’s so far removed from the “normal” world of Target runs, Zoom calls for work, baby’s first tooth social media posts and Amazon deliveries, then yup - people like my older brother, this dude Sharp - they’re gonna seem alien to you, unreal, hard to believe - but their inhabited reality is in stark contrast to yours. Plus we all play a character to some degree - who we are at work or in the office ain’t who we are at home or out with longtime friends and family. “Real recognize real” and this dude is really real in my eyes. I could see him and my older brother sitting having a convo and talking for hours, because they come from the same world and know the language spoken there.

      I see your point. The street is no joke. I've been there and know what you're talking about. But that doesn't give anybody the right to turn someone's daughter into an asset, milk her dry, and dump her ass as soon as she becomes a liability. He doesn't have the best interest of this girls/women in mind. He's just a parasite all in for their blood. I'm sure you wouldn't romanticise is point so much if one of his "assets" was a child of yours.
      He had it rough? Life is rough on everybody, one way the other.
      The worst part is that he's kind of smart/woke, and seems to be aware of what he's doing. But as far as he is concerned: Fuck that shit; - "Why break my back working in an honest job, if I can excel in 'the game' (although it is at the expense of someone else's suffering) ?"
      What is mind boggling to me, is how on earth, such scumbags are allowed to see the light of day.

    I watched a couple of pimps on this series. This one I actually found the most interesting because he said as a child he had hopes and dreams. That statement set the tone for the interview. Also he end with saying he is a smart guy. He also talked about not having role models and opportunities. People have to remember he was on the streets since 13 with no parental guidance. If you know a 13 year old imagine them walking the streets at night at 13 alone trying to get their basic needs met.The true story is projection of pain.

      Sam Cohen that is one way to look at it. There is a lot of vile act that happen in humanity. War can be considered as vile. It is all about who is controlling the narrative. One thing I like this series allows people to share their stories raw. Questions are not about “why”they come to be who they are from judgmental but “who” they are from curious stand point.

      I don't think it's false at all. There may be extra bravado as a protection mechanism but he's street smart & knows it. His confidence is real. Confidence can come off as arrogance & can make someone a bully. He seems like he can be really mean & get really mad. He probably ensures complete control & dominance over people. He's nice as long as they're doing what he approves of.
