    I would love to have this set up but the only way I would do it if I had a dually with a flatbed, but that's my personal preference, the 5.9 still sounds amazing, especially with those flappers

    Is your Y pipe 3 or 4 inch? Man I have always wanted a truck with stacks since i was a little kid. Glenn Leach had a little red wagon back in the 80's. They came factory like that. Very rare little truck.

    I noticed that the raincaps were almost completely closed at idle, does that cause any exhaust restriction? I have always loved the look of raincaps, but have been hesitant to do it because of that. Awesome look and sound! Nothing sounds better than a 5.9 manual👍

  • @Dunki113

    Well, it finally happened, got the stacks on my 2006 just like this except my flaps are pointed to the back.
    I wanted to ask you this because I feel like it's just me but when I put the flaps on it felt like my truck got quieter than before I put them on, was this the case for you?
    I have a in person comparison because I use to run a 5 inch exhaust from the turbo all the way back with only one muffler and I assumed with the muffler gone it would've been much louder. Then I put the flaps on and suddenly it felt like my old exhaust, I'm not complaining, just surprised me a bit.
    It does sound a bit louder at idle when I hold the flaps open but I wanted to get a second opinion from someone with a similar set up.

    • @Galaxy2517
      @Galaxy2517  Год назад

      Yeah mine is very quiet at an idle but will get pretty loud when I really get into it....

    • @Galaxy2517

      I have a video of my truck that you can really hear from a distance after I was blowing my train horns.

    • @JoshPhoenix11
      @JoshPhoenix11 Год назад

      Of course it would be a lot quieter with the flaps closed. The exhaust sound is being made from it going through the pipe and resonating, thats why a larger diameter pipe makes the sound louder because there is more room/volume making the sound resonate more. But if the sound is blocked from exiting it stops the sound from being able to resonate properly. The sound needs to come out of the pipe.
      Just think of how a trumpet sounds normally, compared with when it has a mute in its bell.
      Basically the same thing is happening.

      I bought a stack kit with everything from the deleted DPF to the Y inside the bed and all the adapters... The actual chrome stacks came off of a retired SnapOn tool truck in a junk yard(Lucked out and got them for $20!). The flappers I bought brand new from NAPA... Stainless steel and not cheap.Over $100 for both of them. Depends alot on your budget... I shopped around, saved and pretty much had everything bought before I started. It's a job but I don't regret it :-)

      My plan for my 2500 is a single stack and flap outside of the bed. I'll either notch the bed or use a heat shield.
