    When I saw "2001 24v Cummins" I had to click on it. I'm the original owner of a 2002 Dodge/Cummins HD with 200K miles. I use to tow full time but now the rig and me are retired. It mostly makes runs to Starbucks for a latte. Say what they will about the 24 valves and VP44 pump, but it's the best sounding Cummins of them all. I noticed not a wisp of smoke from yours even pulling away from a stop. Nice workhorse man. Should be good for another twenty years or so.

    • @CumminsDriver
      @CumminsDriver  Год назад +3

      Thanks for the great comment, the 2nd gen 24 valves definitely have a very distinct sound and there is no mistaking it. I really enjoy driving mine, especially towing with it. I like that I can turn the box down and drive it smoke free any time or turn it up some if needed. I wish you could still buy these 2nd gen dodges new because I just dont believe the new ones will be as trouble free or cheap to maintain as most of these trucks were.

      You’re 💯 right. Those VP44 2nd Gens are the loudest and best sounding Cummins trucks to ever be built. And if you can set them up right with the right exhaust… she can sound just like a loaded dump truck from a mile away. You’ll hear these coming way before you see them. 😎

Does it smoke all the time or just before the turbo spools up? Stock turbo? Might be good to check for boost leaks if you haven’t done that yet.

    My goal is to cummin swap my truck to a 12 valve and put 8 inch stacks. Eventually manual swapping it. The reason being is to go farther, tow better and to practice long distance hauling. I don't think you can do that with a V10... Plus there would be more parts and mods to increase Horse power and torque. Not really a lot of mods for the V10

    • @CumminsDriver
      @CumminsDriver  11 месяцев назад

      Ive heard pretty good things about the v10's but they definitely dont have the capability of making torque like a cummins with a few mods and obviously fuel mileage isnt going to be very good. But nothing wrong with using what you already have either. A 12v swap shouldnt be too hard in a v10 truck though, good luck with your build
