honestly man you saved my life tonight. You make history both simple and truly enjoyable to learn. I just wanted you to know that i seriously appreciate what you do. keep doing what your doing :D
Fun fact for a future video: the phrase "yellow journalism" originated from the very first newspaper comic character, the Yellow Kid, who was portrayed as a street urchin wearing a yellow nightshirt that bore smarmy commentary on daily events
I'm a college student studying for CLEP exams. I have a decent understanding of U.S. History, but your lectures have been incredible for reviewing. Thank you for doing this!

Check out the Spanish movie Los últimos de Filipinas about the grueling Siege of Baler where a bunch of Spanish soldiers did not surrender a fort for months because the commander didn’t believe that the war was over yet.
Hey Keith, I am a student teacher looking to add some extra material my students can review over. as a supplement to Lecture, Classroom activities and HW. I would like to make videos like yours'. Ones that follow the class curriculum a little closer. What software to you use to spice up your videos, adding graphics and what not?
Hah!, I learned something.... what an archaic time when we had these so called "Yellow Journalist". On a more serious note, still trying to find out the deal with sugar in PR.
From what you say, it is inexplicable why Filipinos adore the USA. They praise and respect us for our help against the Spanish. I know from Lapu Lapu to Jose Rizal and question your over simplification of this subject.
If you watch the Secret of Oz (Bill Still) you will get plenty of interesting events during that time. It's so important, not only to understand the moment of the History, but also the World we are living on today
real quick i got regents right now in January 21st and i want to know what is a quick tip to go over the basic material and how should i not over study?
You got me at first haha.. I graduated with a history degree., I just like to see how accurate or inaccurate you may or may not be .. I love the content ... funny teacher! Inspiring as well! I feel like I know you ..
I love your Dummies War history Review! You said it on spot for the Philippines. If anyone will Review the history of the Phils. from 15-16 Century, Filipinos are industrious and they like Reading. Therefore the Spanish easily blended into Philippines language and even learned the Spanish at heart because the Spaniards used books, stories and bibles that captured the attention of the Filipinos. In many histories exists, you have a great Eye for details that books never really revealed, like the disease that triggered many Lives of the American Soldiers. I agreed because I read it too, long time ago. More Power to you and continue your great videos! I have already subscribed and thumbs up! And more to comes!!! I`ll take your advice for my Writing!Bless you!
ahh i'm so sorry about that kiddo, i hope you're doing well and having a good childhood otherwise :"D i'm a girl in college but i've been there before as a kid
In your opinion do you believe this was the birth or american exceptionalism? Also how do you think WW2 would have looked if we never gave into this new idea of Imperialism?
I am from spain and in history at primary school in the 80s our teacher (he was a good teacher with modern methods) still was saying that us marine explosion was autocaused by the us. There's still some kind of resentment in spain for what is called "el desastre del 98" but I really believe was the destiny to end european imperialism in south america. So, good thing Cuba was no spain anymore. But the problem with this war is the context of imperialism of the era. This is a problem not resolved yet, being Cuba a miserable dictatorship. I would like to see a real democratic and independent Cuba someday
For Hughes, it is a very excellent gesture by you remind specially young people. Also those in District Of Culumbia. God Bless U.S.A. * MORE RESPECT TO THE AGENCY C.I.A.! Amen.
Puerto Rico... Yep! Nobody mentions it, and there's a reason. The colony (oops sorry), the Unincorporated Territory of Puerto Rico with a Commonwealth Status was, and is the biggest prize the US got out of the "Splendid Little War". On the other side of things, I liked pretty much your explanation of things. Keep on looking, you might hit the truth I actually live in. :)
as a college student, I thank you.
me too!
honestly man you saved my life tonight. You make history both simple and truly enjoyable to learn. I just wanted you to know that i seriously appreciate what you do.

Procommenter well... that’s not part of the “Spanish-American war”. Those deaths were of the “Philippine-American war”.

We have came across an old bayonet from this war and I was just looking for more information surrounding it
From what you say, it is inexplicable why Filipinos adore the USA. They praise and respect us for our help against the Spanish. I know from Lapu Lapu to Jose Rizal and question your over simplification of this subject.

Whats the name of the song in the intro?
"Hey Europe this is ours. Totally can't colonize it yet!" Americans pause, "Oh... Oh yes we DID piss on it."
The US Maine incident could very well be compared to the September 11th attack.
panzerKO More like Gulf of Tonkin/USS Maddox. There are so many real examples let's not jump onto the trade towers conspiracy train.
