  • Hey, my beautiful friend! I'm so excited you're here with me today because Clue #3 of our 2024 yearlong Mystery Knit Along (MKAL) is now available to download! There's still plenty of time to sign up and join in on all of the fun. Here's how it works...
Each month in 2024, we'll release another clue along with yarn color recommendations and a video tutorial. Follow along for the entire year, and at the end of 2024, you'll have knitted your own extraordinary blanket or shawl. This year's MKAL project, Brilliance, is offered in four different options - blanket, shawl, symmetrical blanket, and symmetrical shawl - so you get to choose!
In today's video, I'll show you how to work the lace stitches you'll need to know for this month's clue, including a slip, slip, knit; a knit two together; and an sk2po.
Download Clues 1-3 of Brilliance at www.expressionfiberarts.com/p...
Be sure to sign into your account when downloading the pattern, so when future clues go live, you'll only need to login and re-download the pattern to receive the next clue.
To knit Brilliance, you will need 12 different colored skeins of our luxurious, dreamy soft Buttery Sport yarn or an equivalent amount of yarn/yardage in another sport-weight yarn. For Clue #3, we used Aeolus Buttery Sport.
Each month, we’ll let you know which color we used for that clue, but you can also create your own color combination. We recommend that you choose colors with a good amount of contrast among them, and knit Brilliance with at least two different colors.

Buttery Sport is a fun and boingy, 100% Superwash Superfine Merino Wool yarn that’s squishy and bouncy! No itchiness or scratchiness here! What’s not to love about this super soft, lush, and cuddly sport-weight yarn that’s also machine washable? This 2-ply yarn produces fat, full stitches and is wonderful for projects of all types! 300 yds/274 m per 100-gram skein.
Gauge is very important for this project, as it will affect the amount of yarn needed. If you wish to make a shawl or blanket that only uses 12 skeins of Buttery Sport, you’ll need to match the gauges listed in the pattern. We're also curating two additional color combinations that you can use instead of the recommended Buttery Sport colors listed above.
The first set of alternative colors is the Buttery Sport Warm Cottagecore palette: A) Ceres, B) Frond, and C) Dawa Buttery Sport.
The second set of alternative colors is the Twisted Tweed Sport Magnificent Moment palette: A) Stardew, B) Aleutian, and C) Take Chances Twisted Tweed Sport.
We are also having a yearlong contest for this pattern with prizes! And they’re going to be bigger and better than ever with both monthly prizes and HUGE grand prizes! Join us on our 2024 MKAL Ravelry thread at www.ravelry.com/discuss/expre... and get more information about the MKAL. You'll also receive pattern support and make friends with other knitters.
There's still plenty of time to join the MKAL event and be eligible for monthly prizes and the huge grand prize, so I hope you'll join us over on Ravelry! Sign up for email updates to receive more knit and crochet patterns. We aim for one a week, and most are free for a limited time only. You'll also get coupon codes and be among the first to hear about new limited yarns! XOXO

I like the purples, even if they go with nothing else in my house. Maybe I need to move away from beige ...

Thank you! However I have a question. For the SK2P the description reads "slip first stitch purlwise". You showed slipped it knitwise. Which one is the correct way to do it? 🙂 I know that it gives a slightly different texture.

Either one works. Since the description reads slip purlwise I'd go by. That is what the designer intended. Or just choose the one which looks best to you. I hope this makes sense and is helpful. Have a nice day! 💕
