I've been denied since March 2022 up to November 2022 . After my 3rd heart surgery dr. found that I have an Aneurysm of the aortic arch. Which is hard because i can't pick up anything over 20 lb. .I have arthritis in both knees..its hard to stand at work for 8 hrs. And go home in a lot of pain. And my doctor's will not put me on disability..I just don't understand why not. I'm 61 and all I know is retail. Didn't graduate. I've been working for 37 yrs now. And when UNUM calls me all they are still investigating this....(will call you ) basically. I just don't understand why CVS ( is who im working for) has them on our insurance.
I am sorry to hear about the issues you are having, and even more so that your doctor will not support a claim for disability. In our experience, without a treating doctor’s support it is very difficult to get a claim approved as Unum will rely on your doctor’s records and opinions. If it is the specialist (cardiologist/pain management, etc) who will not support disability you can also ask your primary care doctor to assist.
What about MetLife ?? I have denials for short term and then a change after filing an appeal. I also have them for long term and they want to set up denial for long term claim that is approaching... How is the service cost??

Do I have to return to work in order for the claim to be paid? (Even if the toxic environment is what took me out of work for mental health care)
No you do not need to return to work to get paid. In fact you should not return to work to be paid.
I got turned down for long term. I looked at the info they had and they are missing so much information. Im going to appeal
What is the point of even buying insurance at all if they really never intend to pay what they promise?
