    Such a sweet moment followed by some seriously scary sounds.
    It was nice to get a bit of a backstory on how Senua met Dillion, how she learned to fight and how he made her feel. It’s starting to make sense why she’d go through such lengths to save his soul.
    I don’t know what that thing is in the burial ground but, I’m ready to fight it! (also super scared 😆)

      chriopez I think there is a deeper, more important layer to all this. Despite the facial wound already being there, the monologue of the "shadow voice" emphasized to "end it" because she was weak. In other words: the scene was most likely meant to be interpreted as Senua trying to kill or hurt herself as punishment (self-mutilation can be a symptom of her mental state). Given the symbolism and mental conditions that are addressed in this game it makes more sense to assume that imo.

    • @Othawaii
      @Othawaii 6 лет назад +1

      JustJD Yeah, i wouldn't do that to youtubers i like (or dislike, as spoilers are literally made in Hel by people who deserves to live there), which is why i left it so vage. Im a big fan of irony, so i actually lol'd when she said it. I just knew i had to leave a little friendly tease of kindness ;) I do see your concern though...
      And no, she had to cauterize the wound to stop the bleeding and avoid infection.

    The moment when senua meets Dillion for the first time is the cutest shit I have ever seen in my entire life.
    Her little nod and smirk when he asks her if she was watching him? Fucking adorable.
    I love this character.

    funny you mentioned Gollum from lord of the rings! Andy Serkis, the guy who played Gollum, collaborated many times with Ninja Theory on their past games. he played the raven king in Heavinly sword for ps3. also Andy is literally the guy who handed Melina Juergens her award at the VGA stage lol

    • @Marzz
      @Marzz  6 лет назад +8

      Oh cool!!! Wonder if they thought of that when they made the scene with her talking to her reflection.

  • @justjdnl

    Tip: when you have a torch you can light other standing torches to illuminate dark places. Will come in handy ;)
    So my theory on why Dillion was Blood Eagled was because he could have been the only (capable) warrior in their village. From the stories we heard he in many ways was skilled with a sword, like Senua. Maybe even killing some of the Northmen trying to defend his people. What if they decided to punish him for it. Another motivation would be that they were insulted that a man that worshipped false gods (like in many other religions, the majority of vikings believed other gods to be fake but their own) could be so blessed in battle. And vikings live for battle. Being killed by a "lower" individual might have been considered disgraceful and thus a reason to kill him in a special way.

    • @apg13997
      @apg13997 2 года назад +2

      He was the chieftan's son, and his father dies probably leaving him in charge. I believe that was reason enough for a ritual execution by the vikings. Sacrificing enemy leaders to their gods.

    • @Kumagoro42
      @Kumagoro42 2 года назад

      @@apg13997 Yeah, it wasn't a punishment. If anything, it meant they considered him worthy enough to be sacrificed ritually rather than just slaughtered and thrown to the pigs.
      Something that's rarely said about this game is that Senua's people are the Picts of the Orkney Islands, which were invaded by the Vikings in the late 8th century. But the developers, Ninja Theory, are from Cambridge, which also was under Viking rule in medieval times. So they have all the reasons to de-glamorize Vikings the way the game does.

    It's amazing to me to watch you fall into not only being aware of the voices and what they are saying, but starting to interact with them. It comes so natural and you really gain an understanding of the disorder associated with auditory hallucinations, even without the disorder, we still fall into the pitfalls of accepting what is not real and tangible almost

    • @Marzz
      @Marzz  6 лет назад +3

      I can see how easy it would be to lose the concept of what's real and what's not. I never really thought about how much I listen to the voices in this game and almost automatically believe most of what they are saying even though a lot of it isn't true. It's interesting now that you pointed that out!

    I really love how Ninja Theory creates their characters especially female characters. I was a big fan of Heavenly Sword as well. I love how they made Senua vulnerable, but at the same time you can fully believe that she is also a strong character that can handle anything that gets put in front of her. I just love her as a character.I hope you are getting yourself ready for the next part! I would say that the next couple parts are probably the "scariest" parts of the game. Hope to see it soon!

    • @Marzz
      @Marzz  6 лет назад +4

      Oh no, I had this feeling with those scary ass sounds that it would be...!!
      She is so believable. It's interesting how many emotions you can feel while playing this game because of seeing through Senua's eyes.

    There it is! Ok, so, it's not like I wanna scare you but I gotta tell ya, the following trials are going to be the most unsettling stuff in this game imo, the burial mound's got nothing on them.
    A tip: in those trials you'll be carrying lots of torches. Press X to use the torch you're carrying to light those "large torches"/torch stands or whatever they are that you see on your way, you'll need it not only to help you mark where you've already been, but because of the light itself. Sounds vague and I'm probably not wording it very well, I know. But I don't wanna give anything away! LOL
    Good luck!

  • @terryshao9364
    @terryshao9364 6 лет назад +8

    I was waiting for this part.That is my favorite scene of this game! About Trials of Odin,some people don't like that part cause it's terrifying and full of puzzles. Plus Senua is totally defenseless.But there is a little piece of background story at the end of each trial,so "it's important".And when you get that Gods Killer,you will find it's totally worth it.With that sword you can parry all the weapon attack!(even that huge ax) And those blurry enemy will become hittable after you parry their attacks.(you don't have to use the"focus") So,it's gonna be fun! I hope you will enjoy it! XD

    Great episode! New subscriber here. I love this game. It's my GOTY from 2017 (I played through it 3 times). I'm so glad to see you're so into it as well. I did want to mention that she isn't cutting herself with the heated sword fragment at the beginning of this episode. She got a gash when her sword broke attacking Hela and she needed to cauterize the would to stop the bleeding. It wasn't self-harm for self-harm's sake.

    Once again, good episode ! That Hela giantess was creepy AF^^ and the moment with the tree and the meeting with Dillion was very beautiful and emotional.
    This maze is so disturbing, I just did it yesterday (for me, living in France). I was searching for rune stones in the maze so I ended up kinda lost at some point lol.
    The stories that Druth tells to Senua seems connected to her in some way, the same pattern, subject etc...
    I really enjoy all that nordic lore they're giving to us. The story of Sigmund for example, I was eager to find all the stones to have the end of the story, they did it quite well, giving the player a reason to find the stones. I'm actually stuck in the third trial with a puzzle (runes to find...).

    The burial mound for dummies:
    1. Light the sconces with the torch to easily tell where you've been.
    3. Pay attention to the shields.
    2. A map of the place is on the floor in each room.

    The rune stones are put in groups in a segment where you can venture about until you leave the zone; the story you get to hear will always be continous in that segment regardless in which order you read the stones; you'll miss the ends of the stories if you miss the stones.
    Nvm about them though on your 1st playthrough ! ;P

    Another amazing Episode from Marz, I love this Game and your Episodes so much, and yeah one of the most beautiful scene is Tree when Senua Meet Dillion, this is her Happy Place. Oh and yeah about The Odin Trials to get "The God Killer" sword this is the part what everybody Hates so much, because it's heavily Puzzle Based, and some of the Trials is one of the most scariest and terrifying Part ever in the Entire game,
    So I just want to wish a Good luck for you, you need it, because you need to face your Inner Fear and conquer and beat it, but I know you can do it, you are so Brave determined nothing can stop you, I am believe in you, and I am 100 % support you. And yeah as others said you can grab the torch and Lit them in the Holder Places and the entire area is much more brighter,. it's helps you navigate in the Dark Places in the Future.
    Another Tips which is about to come very soon, all is I can say just stay determined never lose your faith and keep believe in your self, no matter hard and critical the situation is, you are a true Warrior who can do everything.

    As u said, incest was typical not only in all sort of mythology, but even in ancient empires, like romans or greeks.
    Kudos for u, u discovered a huge "face" i had never seen before, lol
    Small tip, u can use the torch to light some things.
    I love the "tree" scene, both for the tenderness, and for the shattered and dramatic interpretation she plays when the memory vanishes.

    I know this is an old video but I believe she was actually cauterizing the wound at the beginning of this video not cutting herself. You can see the cut is already on her face and there would be no reason for her to heat up the sword just to cause more damage. That's why the voices were urging her to do it. So no, I don't think she's a masochist. At no other point does she hurt herself except contemplating suicide a couple times, perhaps.
