A whole update around wildlife would be amazing! Instead of fantasy creatures, the update would introduce new animals of different habitats, adding a variety of creatures to biomes such as jungles, oceans, glaciers, swamps etc.
Try Alex's Mobs for now. It has crocodiles and although it doesn't add river dolphins, it has orcas and whales along with 65 other mobs, real and fictional.
Here's an idea, drop the mob vote and add the biome vote! Instead of deciding which biome will exist, let the community decide whether the ocean or the neither will be updated for the upcoming year. You can decide if piglins will roam the neither or if pillagers will raid the overworld.
I think the deer would have been a great choice for the players But for the developers to make those horns without lag would be a pain So gg u fair mob vote
Also make java edition and bedrock the same when possible instead of giving one a feature the other one doesn’t like how java has the debug stick but bedrock doesn’t :/

The deer or alligator, they are super unique and look very cool on the pictures, I imagine the deer in a forest with two varientss (white,snowy and brown,regular) and the alligator would be in the swamps that are green and brown, in the future, maybe mods or a new mob vote will be made featuring them.
Personally I would like an April fool's update that includes all the mobs we didn't vote for, then a redemption poll that lets the community vote for a mob that didn't win before.
They need to change the vote so that we can vote for more than one and that if each mob gets a large enough amount of community support then they all can get in. Something like, if a mob gets 2/3rds of the active voting community's support then its in. the one with the highest votes being implemented first and followed in sequence of next highest on down.
late to this, but what I think all the mobs would’ve done (using some of the comments ideas) Alligator: A hostile mob, but only approaches if you attack it first or you go to close, it can be killed and will drop alligator scales which can be crafted into armour. Monkey: It swings around on trees and will not attack, but it steals fruits if you have it out in your hand. Although they steal, they are very friendly. They can drop grapple hooks that can be used to travel further. - depending what type of monkey is the type of grapple hook you get White dolphin: It’s just like the normal dolphin but harder to find and is more advanced, it travels faster and can be tamed with tropical fish. Once tamed, if you keep going back to the same area you found it in, it’ll visit you and you can then ride it. Deer: They are very skittish, and shy. Found in cherry blossom biome, oak forest and the snowy mountains. They don’t attack, and if you feed them an apple they won’t be shy and will show you cleared out and attractive places. - deers are usually only useful for building, but they can be tamed.
