That's really his father beside James and he had stage 4 kidney decease. He needs a new kidney, but there's no donor. This song is his tribute to his father. That's why James is in tears. But a miracle happened, a distant relative came forward and there was a successful transplant. His father is still alive.
It’s really so sad and his pain is felt in the way he sang… I can imagine how happy he is/was when they found a donor… thanks 💯 for the back story @soundmstr
Never worry about crying as a reaction. I love this song. I have watched a hundred reactions to it, everyone cries and I cry each time, It's that powerful a song.
It is indeed @Gavin Holt he poured out his heart to it… it’s very intense, even more so for me after reading the back story. I cried the second time watching the video more than I did in this video 😂
I cried every time I watched it. All of us have a father in the home who is there or gone. It's about father and son, but the son is grown up now. I miss my daddy.
Claudette, we might have few things in common from appearances. But after watching several of your uploads, I know you to be a beautiful human who cares about your family and loved ones more than you care about yourself. I am the same. I am so grateful that you would share your reaction to this. You are recording a common, very human reaction in an age where we are discouraged from feeling human. I love and support you. I am you subscriber and I will eagerly await your next reaction video. Never lie to yourself and the rest of us will know who you are.
A lovely and genuine reaction from you. James Blunt and his father were both Captains in the British Army (at different times obviously) and served with distinction. His dad had stage.4. cancer but recovered after a distant relative stepped forward to give a transplant. It's been over a decade since I cared for my father until he passed away and I was in floods of tears. Fabulous song and... yes, that is his father.
Oh you're cold you can use squeeze off one tear. You know why that is because it's a father-and-son relationship. It was a mother and daughter you'd be Ballin like
So proud to see and know that your "thick skin" was not so thick after all. It's perfectly fine to show your emotions, it's one of the things that makes you human. Loved your reaction!!!
This was written by James after his father was told it was highly unlikely that he would get the life-saving transplant he desperately needed. The good news is that only a few weeks after the song and video (yes that is James' dad) was released a donor was found and thankfully a couple of years on, his Dad is still alive
I almost laughed when you told me all about your "thick skin" before you heard the song. (I was thinking "please girl, you are human") Great reaction. 😄
Hi Claudette, just a little background to this amazing video. This was the first time James had sung this to his father who had only recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer and wasn't expected to survive unless they could find a donor, which they did eventually. James' record company wanted him to use 'Auto-Tune' but he refused because he wanted this recording to be real, and 100% genuine, so the recording was done exactly as we see it. One take. James and his father were both former officers in the British military. I have no idea how he managed to hold himself together for this, I know I could never have done in that situation. Well done you, for holding out for as long as you did. Many others watching this for the first time (like me) had to reach for the tissues much sooner.
No no no you let those tears fly you don't get on. Your eyes with it with a napkin because we don't know if there's any tears at all that's a trick pretend to cry

No miracle, just a bunch of people who care enough to be devoted to helping others.
The only tears to be ashamed of are the tears not shed. A beautiful song.

My father is my Hero. He passed from cancer in 2016. This video breaks me down to tears every time. RIP Dad. 🙏

Actually, his father was a Colonel and it was Stage 4 kidney disease.
They were both high ranking officers in the British army. His dad was dying but he got a last minute kidney transplant and survived..

Thanks @Gerardo 🤗🥂🥂🥂 the song is incredibly good
his dad was sick and now died
You don't often get to hear your own eulogy.
You want a sad song? Whiskey Lullaby.
Excellent choice! Just like this song, it makes me slobber every time, but I keep coming back for more.
I’ll definitely watch it for the first time on here before the end of the week
Also If You're Reading This by Tim McGraw.
@Alan Peterson it appears Whiskey Lullaby isn’t a song I can react to due to copyrights

Are you not posting reactions anymore?Do you need some assistance ?
@Susan Elkins oh no thank you 🤗 you’re such a sweet person🥂 I paused on reacting because of copyright which is affecting my channel badly.
@@ClaudetteMeye oh no! how can that be fixed?
Only by getting in touch with the artists or their teams and ask for permission to react to their videos
@@ClaudetteMeye every video isn't blocked.
Indeed @Susan Elkins but they have claims and I receive emails every time of more videos being blocked or claimed
