I usually carry two sets of gloves. One pair of leather and one pair for heavy weather protection. The summer ones are airborne leather gloves and a pair of fleece lined finger gloves. In the winter months i have one pair of thinly lined officer leather gloves and a pair of gloves and mittens in one. The last one i use as mittens and fold the cover back when i have a task to do, turning them into gloves.

I don't do mountaineering, only backpacking but even then I've normally been taking 3 pairs of gloves (still new to it, so may still go up).
Main pair is a lightweight set that keeps the wind off, and keeps _most_ of the wetness out, whether from snow or rain. But they can definitely wet out, which was kinda dissapointing since they're goretex and I got them for cycling in the rain. Only goretex product I've ever had that didn't keep me dry. BUT they're still okay so long as it's not pouring, and they still work with my phone's screen.
Second pair is a thin polyester pair that was actually the underglove of a very nice pair of ski gloves that I unfortunately lost a couple years ago. If I need just the barest extra warmth I'll sometimes wear them on their own since they give excellent grip, but they usually stay underneath my main pair just to give them that extra bit of insulation that lets me bring both gloves comfortably down to around freezing, while still getting water _resistance_ and _nearly_ unimpared dexterity (and still with phone use).
Last pair are heavy ski gloves. In a perfect world I'd put them on over the main pair so if I have to take my hand out of the glove I don't instantly lose all insulation, but honestly if I'm putting these on it's far too often because I let the main pair get too damp. But too date, I've never felt any wetness through them, and worn them down to around 20F/-6(?)C, where my hands were _still_ slightly warmer than I preferred - but not hot enough to be uncomfortable or start sweating.

At first I thought you had finally opened up to a glove fetish. After watching this video, I realized I have at least 6 pairs of gloves each I wear in different conditions. Certainly at least 2 pairs in my winter pack.

Not over kill at all, I'll be out over the Christmas break and I'll have 4 pairs with me and a pair of ultra thin and light weight waterproof motorcycle mitts.

top man. I couldn't agree more. ML's are useless without dexterity. ..haha, same thing happened to me with those first extremities glove! ..good to hear you're getting out on the multi pitch routes. my first mp was on cneifion arête many moons ago. anyway, I hope your son is okay now and best wishes to the fam. certainly get your concept 🥶 it all depends on what your doing on different activities etc. i wear montane prism gloves the best warmth to weight is amazing but tend to be quite slippy.

Had a pair of Extremity fleece gloves since 2000 and are very worn similar to yours, great pair of gloves. The big question❓ How do you easily put a pair of gloves on with damp hands ?????? Informative video as always, many thanks.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Have you considered looking at a warmer pair of gloves to combat the cold fingertips?

Just carry one spare pair of gloves (Montane Prism, super light and compact) in addition to the pair I intent to use. Same with hats.

Great analysis, thank you! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?

Unrelated, but how would you review the keela strata jacket? Im thinking of getting a SDP keela jacket

I actually recorded a review video on the Stratus jacket which you can find here.
      ruclips.net/video/8RZXxRzBnEY/видео.html
It is still my go-to hard shell jacket. I rarely find myself reaching for my Gore-Tex jackets anymore as I find that the Stratus SDP system not only provides the waterproofness that I'm looking for along with breathability, but also I find them much warmer to wear than the hard shell equivalent.
