Yes, we also have those boot scrapers outside the more grand, Victorian era houses here too. Some of them are actually built into a small recess in the brickwork of the house. InWales they're generally for scraping footwear to remove anything that you don't want brought into your home, mud, snow etc etc.

140€ is absolutely nothing for a good hotel in Bulgaria, that's true. Sheraton Sofia Balkan (the hotel where the guy was staying) was more luxurious in the past, it's not seen as much luxurious anymore. Also he was saying it's 50 year old, when the hotel is around 70 years old. There are way better and more luxurious hotels in Sofia, but price won't be 140€ that's for sure haha.
Hilton and Marinela are also so-so. I suggest Millenium hotel, has amazing rooms with a crazy view, especially the ones on the higher floors.

Bulgaria isn't the oldest country in Europe, the neighboring Greece is older, also most of the countries in this part of Europe share some common ancestors, so all of them have about the same age.
The cave-man populated both Bulgaria - Kozarnic Cave - and Romania - Muyeryi Cave - about one million years ago.
Also the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture from Romania, Rep. Moldova and Ukraine is about the same age as the Gumelnița-Karakovo cultures from Bulgaria.
Also Thracian and Dacians were the previous inhabitants of the Balkan peninsula and are the ancestors of most of the present day inhabitants, including Serbians, Bulgarians and Romanians.

@@bozoqturkmni8137 Present day Eastern European Bulgarians are a mixture of Thracians, Huns and Alans, Goths, Bulgarian Tatars, Aromanians, Greeks and Serbians.
The Bulgarian Tatars were indeed a federation of Turkic tribes, but when they arrived in the Balkan peninsula they get in contact with several other people and thus they got slavized and then baptized as Eastern rite Christians.
They weren't the same people as the Turkish people from present day Turkiye, and they didn't been members of Islam before they get Christianized.

@@LenkaThybo greece was byzantine empire when bulgarians were in volga from where they came to what they now call bulgaria and was back then a greek province in 600 AD. even sofia is a greek name meaning wisdom... greeks founded all this... In modern times greek state liberated itself from ottomans in 1830 and bulgarian state was liberated even later in 1883 with the treaty of st stephanus and berlin. Why you write such unhistorical stuff online?

@@polha49661879 actually, but you've got to acknowledge that the Hellenics in the Ottoman empire and up until 20th century identified themselves as Roman. And somewhere after Greco-Turkish war they started to leave the concept they they weren't Romans, but ancient Greeks.

I know, not believe, because of Your influence. This hotel can lose all or at least, a lot of business.
There should "NEVER" be any negatives with a luxury hotel. Only improvements on good service. But if a hotel has to improve on obvious "Bad" services, that company must need to know. Or they will feel the pain of the loss of business.
With Your influence, the world WILL know.
This is only part of the reason I will never visit Bulgaria. The other reason is that taxi services will OVER CHARGE foreigners. I have other reasons, but I will keep those reasons to myself.
