Trip to White Sands National Park and Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico

Tips:
• White Sands: You don't need to sled (but if you still want to try sledding, you should take your own and be sure to pack wax because sand is not slippery; the visitor center also sells sleds and wax but they are overpriced). Wear sun-protective clothing or wear a lot of sunscreen (or both)
• Carlsbad Caverns: Be sure to dress warm, take flashlight(s) especially if you have kids, and take photography gear that does well in low light
• Both areas do not have many restaurants/food areas. Pack several meals/snacks. Hyatt hotels provide free breakfast
• There's not much to do in both national parks. A couple hours at White Sands was enough and one day at Carlsbad Caverns was sufficient
• Be sure to look up closed/opening days/times (with time zones in mind)
