Hey guys! I'm back with arguably one of the most metal ost's of all time, SNES's "Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals"!
I did a slammin' metal cover of the boss theme for this game a while back and it ended up being one of my favorite covers to do!
This game's music has all of the JRPG elements that I love and it even takes it to an even higher level in terms of metalness compared to other games in the genre.
The arrangement came together super naturally having already done some stuff from this ost as well as feeling very at home with the metal riffage of the original. The rhythm section of the original has some very prominent guitar and drums in it which gave me a huge foundation to build on.
However, I didn't want to just copy the original straight up; so I made it an objective to incorporate as many of my own stylistic elements into my arrangement such as some guitar harmonies, more open and melodic rhythm guitar parts, and some half time breakdown grooves.
I also couldn't resist laying down an over-the-top shreddy solo on top of the sick chord progressions in thee pre-chorus!
Overall I had such a blast making this cover. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Lufia has such a great underrated soundtrack! That was RAD! \m/
it was one one of the first rpgs I played back when I got my snes so it will always have a nice place in my heart.
Best ost of any snes game period....
What's truly amazing is that while themes such this are unique to Lufia 2, many of the great themes used in this originated in the original game and though they were arranged in a deliberately juvenile way originally, they are unquestionably mature in Lufia 2.
Am I the only one who wants to play the whole game with this dude providing the soundtrack? I can't be....great job bud.

You are not sir infact they should do a remake like the (ff7 remake was) top of the line 4k graphics real-time combat same story with slight changes ...fully voiced over ...and a whole new realistic (but still overpowering gigantic look to the Sinistrals)😅😅😅😅😂 it would be Glorious!!!!!
@@sunsguide6624 Real-time can piss off, but I agree with everything else. Too many old turn-based games have gone real-time, let's not do the same with one of the greatest turn-based games of the 90's (like it would ever happen anyway).

@@sunsguide6624 they did and it was called curse of the sinistrals and the remake sucked ass if anything the game needs a 1:1 remake not something that changed the story to something unrecognisable...
God, Lufia 2 has such an underrated soundtrack overall. I always find myself humming it lovingly while playing and the songs will get stuck in my head here and there with no warning or context, brain's just like *HEY REMEMBER LUFIA 2 HAHA OF COURSE YOU DO NOW GO DRINK SOME WATER*

Agreed. I found a tweet by the composer where he teased a metal version of the main battle theme for an upcoming game. Don't think it was ever released and I can't find the video he made anymore, sadly. It gets you pumped!

I just found this not too long ago as far as I remeber. I think about the first encounter with gades and if you beat him your 1st time you get his weapon. I love this. Amazing man.

After listening to this cover repeatedly for a week I think I must confess that this is now my favourite metal cover of anything ever. It was running in my head for the whole last week! Thank you sir for that wondeful masterpiece of music. Please never stop rockin !
Amazing cover once again! So glad you covered this one as well. As a Lufia 2 Ancient Cave speedrunner nothing is more satisfying to hear this theme when you finally reach Floor 99 and fight the almighty jelly.
