MOST QBs have their careers ruined by an incompetent organization.

Absurd. Just a new age bs theory to make an excuse for every bust/mediocre QB.
Historically great QBs go very high in the draft, those teams got that high in the draft by being incompent (no way bro 🤯). Yet time and time again great QBs have been drafted high to these bad organizations and then suddenly they're a stable franchise for 10+ years.. hm how did that happen??
Reality is most QBs just ain't good enough, its the single hardest job in the world. One of the reasons why when you get an elite one.. you don't give him up for ANYTHING.

As a MN native and nearly 40 year Vikes fan, I sure as hell hope we DON’T give up a bag for the #3 pick!!! We don’t hane a 2nd, or a 3rd pick this year. We have holes of our own to fill even outside of QB… this class QB’s are “deep”, even though a 50% hit rate on the top 6 QB’s would be about average. I would much rather our team just take who’s there at 11 than gamble 3 #1 picks to get the “third best” QB in this draft. One of the top 4-6 QB’s should be there still at 11, and even if not just take best player available.
I cringe so bad at all the hype over the top QB’s in any years draft. It’s a double edge sword because you no doubt need a franchise QB (and especially on a rookie contract), but if you miss your team is set back at least 3 years and more likely 5 years…
For the past 20 years the Vikes have patched their QB situation together mostly through free agency and a few trades. We have a wiley Sam Darnold who has everything to prove.
Pick up best player available (no matter position) at 11, and then at 23 take a low risk chance on Penix (or anyone else that might slip).

Hear hear , Finally a voice of reason ! I know Pats fans are going to lose their minds if this happens this way but it is the most intelligent way to rebuild . If they draft a QB and he fails again because of a poor line or wide receiver group then they will be all over the rookie QB again and we start the cycle again . Another wasted year; Do it get a wide out and then a tackle and the second round either another o-lineman or another wideout . Then in third do all in for a TE and then 4th round maybe a RB or more lineman . We will also could probaly use a passrusher somewhere if they can find one and finally Alabama's field goal kicker to replace our disaster

My guess on how the early draft could unfold goes like this:
    1) Bears take Caleb Williams of course
    2) Washington Commanders pick LSU QB Jayden Daniels despite more mocks having Commanders take NC QB Drake Maye here
    3) The Pats shock everyone by trading down with the Vikings who’s two 2024 first rounders (#11 & #23 overall) plus a 2025 2nd Rounder is a deal New England can’t refuse despite desperately needing a QB. The Vikings shock everyone by picking media darling meteoric draft riser Michigan QB JJ McCarthy at pick #3
4)The Cards stand pat & have the widely regarded consensus top player in the draft who is considered a sure fire can’t miss lock in NFL ready receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
    5) The Chargers desperately need a receiver due to loss of their #1 WR Keenan Allen & their #2 WR Mike Williams but could take a tackle as Harbaugh likes smash mouth run then gun type of football. Despite Malik Nabers & Rome Odunze being here along with freak TE Brock Bowers & all the tackles the Chargers make a trade with the Pats (they move up for less than they got moving down netting them extra picks) who move back up to where they take next draft shocker Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. Penix’s stock has been going up & his Pro Day helped him out even more
    6) Now my Giants will be in a tough choice situation here after the draft unfolded as it did like I described. Do they trade down after McCarthy was shockingly taken at 3. I could see them taking stud WR Rome Odunze over Malik Nabers here to the disappointment of some Giants fans who prefer Nabers. Both are studs & basically a pick either one & you’ll be set because theyre bith so good. Odunze contrasts more with the other Giants receivers like Hyatt, Robinson & Slayton who gives them a big body tall jump ball red zone weapon; Nabers is more similar to the Giants receivers than Odunze. Either way the top Giants need is a #1 WR however do they take one of the remaining top QB prospects here as insurance for Daniel Jones & a hedge to improve odds they have their franchise QB on the roster? Possibly. Maybe the Giants trade down & net more draft capital for next year to use on 2025 draft for a QB in case Jones falters. Maybe Jones has a breakthrough year.
Whatever happens Giants need to crush the draft after a successful free agency in order ti compete in 2024 & fill their needs. Can’t wait for the draft. It’s going to be fun to watch this QB, Receiver & tackle loaded draft unfold. I’m getting anxious. I want to see who Giants & everyone picks & whether the Giants rumors of late are smokescreens or garbage. Let’s Go Giants!

Until those players were chosen to multiple Pro Bowls and All-Pro slots. Unfortunately, injuries took their toll. But it was also the owner's need to choose mediocre "yes men" as coaches that hindered their chances for years. Because I have no doubt that the owner would also love to not only GM, but head coach as well.

Disagree. Don't acquire top talent in a specific order, just acquire top talent. And if you can't acquire it directly, acquire the people (and coaches) who can grow it. They're saying this year has way better QB prospects than next year, so a rare #3 pick for NE is an opportunity. Granted, most 1st Round QB's don't pan out, and maybe 2024 is no exception, but when you have no QB it doesn't feel like such a gamble to take one.

Bill didnt understand how to utilize Parker and Gesicki. He was trying to run them as traditionally as possible when Mike Gesicki is really just a big WR. They excel at coming down with 50/50 balls but Mac Jones couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. DVP is past his prime now but the Patriots OC clearly didn't watch enough tape on them.

The Patriots' defense is actually in good shape. The biggest issues for the Patriots defense in 2023 were injuries. Remember they lost top cornerback Christian Gonzalez and top pass rusher Matthew Judon to season ending injuries. On offense, they need a stud left tackle, a #1wide receiver and a quarterback. As a Patriots fan, they need to build the team first and then get the quarterback. Most young quarterbacks that fail, fail due to the incompetence of the organization that drafted them. Look no further than Mac Jones for evidence of that. Mac was the runner up for offensive rookie of the year in 2021. He was NOT the problem on the Patriots offense.

Mac was the main problem on offense... He had a tosix attitude and put all blame on his teammates. But he did not once execute for what he was paid to after his rookie year. And while it is obvious that his support cast was not the best - it is as obvious that Mac is just not a NFL starting QB. Not physically and definitely not mentally

Great rant about Jones. Brian Hoyer said he was highly intelligent and implied the Matt Patricia wasn't able to answer his questions. That exposed a weakness, which was Mac's tendency to play the spoiled brat, throwing tantrums on the field due to bad play calling. Belichick, who had Jones forced on him in the first place, got his revenge in the 2023 draft when he went defense with his first three picks, leaving Jones bereft of an help at OL, receiver and bringing in yet another OC, O'Brien. O'Brien was better, but Mac was constantly under pressure from the rush, and lost his confidence. He started missing easy passes and seeing ghosts. He's cooked in all likelihood. It was the very textbook of how to ruin a QB and was the main cause of Belichick rightfully being fired

They should have kept Mac, drafted Harrison Jr, or traded the pick for multiple first and second round picks and got a competent offensive coordinator. Now they are in a pickle. If you draft Harrison Jr, you have nobody to get him the ball. If you draft a QB, you have no weapons or a good offensive line. Plus day 1 QB starters don't normally pan out. You could go offensive line but you can trade down, get multiple picks and still get an offensive lineman in the middle of the first round plus possibly having multiple first round picks this year if you traded picks with the Vikings who needs a QB.

  • @bozgy
    @bozgy 2 месяца назад

Tanking the next season sounds good in theory but how do you sell it to your players? How many good players will you lose because they don't want to be on a tanking team? Are you really sure your team will be more ready than this year to draft a QB? How much will you have to give up to trade up to get that QB? Probably the pick you get from the Vikings and another 1st round pick.
Also, how are the new head coach and coordinators going to look if they start with a tanking season with few wins? Will they have the trust of the locker room? Will they get enough rope from the GM to build slowly?
My prediction is that they'll draft a OL and a WR with the Vikings picks for this year, hit on some rookies, miss on others as is always the case, lose the trust of the players, have difficulties keeping good players next year and the roster will be more or less the same before the next draft. Coaches will feel the pressure to win soon and will give up more than they got from the Vikings to get a QB who will be in the same position as the one they would have drafted this year.
This is not Madden, there are real humans in the team with aspirations, careers they want to improve, they need leaders they can trust to want to win.
And especially in NE, it cannot work now after 20 seasons of this team winning so much.

Unless Dan Marino is available in a draft I think it’s usually a good move for a team to get multiple ones for one high pick. I don’t know the odds but intuitively, if you pick one guy, there are pretty high odds he won’t work out for some reason. See Ryan Leaf. But if you pick three guys, using the multiplier factor in statistics, the odds of all three flaming out are probably near zero. See Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith. And see the Vikings GM from 30 years ago get fired for trading for Herschel Walker.

Trying using Rich Hill value chart. Based more accurately on history. The chart you showed in a Jimmy Johnson and while the first not the most accurated in today's salary cap and the quarterback contracts have changed since 2011. Rich Hill value 11 and 23 get you 3 and 67 in return. Straight math Vikings do that in a heartbeat. Of course with the percieved quarterback tax they most likely will want 3 firsts but that maybe could be softed for Vikings if is 2026 versus 2025 pick due to 11 and 23 being this year. Another option is 11,23 and 2025 1st for 3 this year and New England's 2025 2nd rounder.

saying we have “one of the worst constructed” teams just shows you have limited knowledge and don’t watch us play… our main focus is our qb, a couple o line pieces , and our receivers. Other than that our defense still remains solid and is always top 15.
