      That makes perfect sense! We don't see snow in Texas very often so we have no reference for this, but thank you for this explanation!! and Thanks for watching! :-)

    We have enjoyed your videos so much. We live in Baldwinsville at Erie Lock 24. We enjoyed EP 18 as we lived in Albany for 25 years. We would walk at the Troy marina and Waterford many times. Now we live in Baldwinsville. We started watching you at EP 20as we live very close to Phoenix. So we started at EP1 and do one every night soon we will be current. Thanks for your videos we have enjoyed your trip so much.

      Oh wow, thank you so much for your kind words! We are so glad you are enjoying our episodes, and please tell me they have gotten a little better editing wise each week!??? Haha! I go back and watch Ep 1 and I cringe! But in any case, we are trying to document our Loop so we can always have it to replay these amazing memories! Thanks so much for watching! :-)

    Snow in NY gets deep, 3, 4, and 5 feet deep during the winter. With the markers, the plows can see their location and firefighters can find them.

    The "antenna" is there so that the fire hydrant can be located in the snow. That part of NY is in the snow belt. 150" or more of snow in a season is the norm.

    Welcome to town! I live just a few miles from Brewerton. The reason for the hydrant 'antenna' is obvious to locals, as you saw from other comments. Its a short boating season up here, almost time to renew my driveway plow contract for this winter...

      Hey Peter! We have enjoyed the Brewerton/Cicero/Syracuse area so much, it's so chill and relaxing! Everyone has been so nice. Yes we understand the short boating season, sad for you but everyone seems to get out as much as they can while they can!! We have seen the same people on their boat every afternoon while at the marina! Thanks for watching! :-)

      Hi David, you are right, we did research it, but sometimes books and internet don't fully prepare you for what you are going to SEE - the grand view - I have gotten teary a few times on this trip at the magnitude of what we are doing and seeing! I am trying to capture it all on film for our friends and family to see, and for us to go back and watch in the future and re-live it again! Thanks for watching! :-)

    I believe the stick on the hydrant is so it can be seen by firefighters and snow plows snow it can be found or seen when snow is high.. Snow plows with a wing plow need to know that the hydrant is there as it sits close to the road.

    It's cool that you landed in St Johnsville. Did you notice the RV park attached to the marina? That's pretty much our go to RV Park, and I've seen Loopers there before. By the way, it's St Johnsville, not St Johnsonville.

    The name of the village you stopped at is St. Johnsville, NY and not Johnsonville. And of course this part of the river had a high water flow which is why there is so much debris in it.

      Thank you so much for letting me know - I think I was really tired and misread it the first time, which made me misread it the entire video! Correction noted! And yes we know about the water flow and debris, really tough to control but also tough sometimes to navigate. Thanks for watching! :-)

    Do any of the locks charge money? Did any locks give you a hard time when you came up to them? I like the way you did laid out the expenses and over night stays. That answered many questions about your trip I wanted to ask. I was thinking fuel would have been much more expensive, but I'm glad it wasn't. I've been in South Georgia for over 35 years, but I'm from Michigan and looking forward to seeing you go around it. Thank you for the great work you put in your show.

    • @coolbeansloop2024

      Hi David! No, none in the US charge money, but in Canada, they will. We bought a Canadian lock pass so we won't have to pay each time but I will let everyone know the cost per lock when we get there. Nobody gives us a hard time, everyone has been so nice and kind so far! We are so excited to get to Canada and then Michigan, we hear it's wonderful in the summer! Thanks for your kind comments and your continued viewing! :-)

    Very nice video, love the small facts and takes on what you are seeing. You mentioned a bridge with 20' clearance was the lowest you will do -- are you doing the entire Erie Canal or hanging a right partway to go to Canada? I did the whole Erie Canal from Buffalo heading East and recall a bridge that was maybe 16' or 17' clearance.

    • @coolbeansloop2024
      @coolbeansloop2024  6 месяцев назад

      Hi there, and thank you for the kind comments! We are not doing the entire Erie Canal, we are heading north to Oswego and then hanging right to go to Canada! We are good to clear 18.5' as is but we can lower our mast if needed to get to 17' -ish. We will re-measure soon! Thanks for watching! :-)

      @coolbeansloop2024  6 месяцев назад

      Hey Jon!!! In the US there is no cost, however when we get to Canada next month, there is a cost. We bought a lock pass for that, so we don't really know how much each lock will cost yet, but we will definitely let you know when we get there! Thanks for watching! :-)

      Haha, I think Chris doesn't always know where we are because I am the navigator - I tell him where we are going each day, all he has to do is get us there safely! :-) But seriously, living on a boat and traveling like this, it's hard to keep track of where we are, what day it is, etc. We often have no idea when we wake up each day! Every day is a new adventure! Thanks for watching! :-)
