    Buttram..an EXCELLENT actor. His dialogues with Eddie Albert were second to none. The writers and directors of that time knew just how to tailor parts for each actor.

      Yes and in real life he was a republican who wrote speeches for Reagan. So yes he would be good at playing huckster con man. I think that is called type casting.

    Mr. Haney was an entrepreneur. He not only knew exactly what Mr. Douglas always needed, but never overcharged him for a single thing. Well, he did kind of screw him on that tractor, it never did run right.

      @CaliforniaCheez Your right, I don't remember Haney selling to anyone else, other than Mr. Douglas. Haney was the former owner, and in one episode involving the electric lines, (so Douglas didn't have to climb the pole), Haney wanted to charge Douglas more money, because Haney claimed the pole was on his property.

    • @carlpen850
      @carlpen850 8 лет назад +3

      +Marchant2 -- I definitely agree with you. This was my favorite TV comedy, people I've know over the years either hated it or loved it.
      The writers must of taken some lessons from the Marx Bro's since there's so many similarities with the characters. Mr. Douglas plays the intelligent & often frustrated Groucho, Mr. Haney plays the swindling fast buck Chico & Lisa, Eb, Hank Kimbal, & especially Arnold the pig borrow bits & pieces of Harpo.
      The witty, quick hitting unexplained jokes & hilarious absurdities seem to be borrowed right out of the Marx Brothers play book.
      Watch some of the EARLY Marx Brothers movies (the later ones weren't that good) & then some Green Acres & see if you catch some of the style of humor that I think is very similar.

In half an hour he'd have them paying for a universal health care system, better education, better welfare, and lower taxes for the middle class on down. In an hour he'd probably have them agreeing to a permanent minimum wage of $21.00 an hour, paying for all hate groups to be deported, to make DACA permanent, and to have a Constitutional amendment quickly added saying that Trump is to be permanently disqualified from ever being President again.

It was made to shine on a Christmas tree to make it glitter more in the window. My parents bought one when I was 10 years old. Where they bought I don't know because when you are a little kid all you are thinking about is what you got for Christmas. I talked to Haneys niece when I made a negative comment about him on find a grave site. She said he was her favorite uncle and they would have long talks and he was very kind hearted that he was nothing like he was on Green Achers.

      @@jamesm.3967 In the pilot episode, Oliver Douglas was seen as a lawyer in New York City. He lived in an apartment building
      with a balconey and grew vegetables in large pots. He always had the vision of seeing plants grow from the
      earth. Somehow, he found the farm for sale from Mr. Haney (known as "the old Haney place") and decided to
      give-up the city life for the farm. It is mostly explained in the opening theme song. The "Gentleman Farmer"

      Yeah....Hank Kimbal was my favorite. He was always befuddled and easily confused.
