Last time I visited here was 2003, it was really eerie, as we ascended, we noticed the birds had stopped singing and it was deadly quiet, it was the middle of the day, the whole time we were at the top it was eerily quiet. The whole place has an unusual energy about it.
100% agree, I was just there last weekend ( November 2022) and it has a very strange energy about the place. The rock formations don't seem natural to me, feels kinda like a melted fortress of some kind. There must be caverns and tunnels beneath the surface, the ground feels hollow in certain places. Definitely worth a visit.
It is quite high above the ground so you aren't going to have much noise. If the air was still, that would add to the quietness as well. I wonder if people had no idea of what supposedly happened on the rock, that the quietness would be perceived as serene as opposed to eerie? Also, if the birds had gone quiet from something eerie or some "energy", I think that they would fly away and never return.

I believe we would know a lot more about hanging rock if we had a Aboriginal population like in the other states . All the tribes in Victoria were chased away , probably killed so we'll probably never know more about hanging rock than what we already know
Aboriginal is the only thing i keep thinking about with Hanging Rock, because it is real history, they are the real missing people until today, not those three school girls. I feel so sad with this location.
They say that if you tell enough stories about a place, even if they're a complete work of fiction, those stories become REAL. I mean, seriously. People talked about this 'mystery' that really was just a work of fiction at its core with a little bit of inspiration from past experiences. But hasn't it been told enough to the point where it's almost like these stories actually happened?
It has been continually suggested that a space time warp could impinge on the Bermuda Triangle. Could a space time warp impinge on Hanging Rock? Even Joan Lindsay stated that when she was 4 years old she experienced a " time glitch " when visiting hanging rock. Interesting.......
I was under the impression all my life that it was true. Not the case. Reviews make out that something happened on 14/02/1900. Nothing did as there are no Police or newspaper reports supporting this. The story hangs loosely, perhaps, on the disappearances of two girls in the area in the 1890s. A lot of conjecture is thrown in to suggest that the author, the late Lady Joan Lindsay, had psychic abilities. She was compelled to write the story based upon some lucid dreams. Perhaps the cool crisp air of the Mornington Peninsula could have triggered the lucid dreams? Appleyard College apparently was based upon Clyde Girls' Grammar School (St. Kilda East) which the author had attended. The school was transferred to Woodend in 1919. Hanging Rock is quite often surrounded and capped by clouds due to its height above sea level. It may seem ominous as you drive past on the Calder Fwy. Potentially dangerous if you come off the beaten track on the rock. However one should not be worried about getting drawn into some hole that leads to another time dimension or universe! The plot is fictitious but could be good for entertainment, that's all.
I think the writer based it on a few other strange disappearances in the area that occurred a while prior to the year in her story. Apparently she wrote the story after having strange dreams. Similar to some “Missing 411” cases
I reckon Hanging Rock is a Beautiful little spot that is nice for family meetups and adventures in summer. There was absolutely nothing wrong or unnerving about it.

I love the sound of the windpipe playing picnic at hanging Rock , so beautifully mated to the story , cheers.
Thanks 😊
Who needs a story when these rocks are so spooky by themselves? The pictures you show us look even more surreal than most in the film.
Have you seen the skull rocks in Joshua tree national park? 🤯. These here have the same feeling. Weird eh
I’m a romantic. This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.🙏🏼

Definitely an eerie place with a sense of mystery. That’s what makes it so appealing 😊

Great video - thank you for sharing!
Thanks 😊
Did your watch stop working? 😅
Awesome footage, was very beautiful to watch, thanks for sharing!
Some places on earth should be left alone. It is truly a strange place. If you don't have to go there, don't.

Good music and filming. Cheers
Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed it
... sounds like a fascinating story, I must read it.
Thanks Terry....
The movie was pretty good too. And the hike up the mountain is worth it :)
Cheers mate. Have a picnic
Most Beautiful Hanging Rock.
Thank you! Cheers!
A most beautiful place and amazing rock formations . Too bad that Picnic at Hanging Rock was fiction and I thought it was a true story lol
Maybe there is a Portal there like the Rock Door at Lake Titicaca in Peru
Edakkal caves, Kerala , India - little bit of history scratched there.. should visit next time when u ...
Thanks for the suggestion. I hope to spend a lot longer in India next time exploring as much as I can 😊
I was so disappointed when I found out the movie was just fiction, I had been led to believe it was real 😀
I'm with you on that. It's such an intriguing story but unfortunately it's just a story.

Inspirational. Thanks.

i dont know if id hike up there by myself. think about Miranda!!
Definitely worth going to the top for the views & sense of mystery. Miranda won't mind ;)
@@LetsGo012 That should be renamed Mount Miranda
An air of mysticism .
Ha Ha..and just to keep the mystery and viewers hooked you say the truth at the end.😅
It may have happened in a parallel universe.
But did you bring a picnic?
Of course 😂
Well done, 100% not true story book stuff. Much like the Indigenous dreaming
