Hey Nick, I’m wanting to upgrade sadly I have a 2012 CLS 550. I want to say it’s 4.7 NTG I want the new newer Mercedes software look all I see is the Apple CarPlay screens just seem a bit off to aftermarket. Any ideas what I can do
Sadly Mercedes latest software would only be on the new cars. There are some 3rd party options out there, I’m a member of some Facebook groups and forums who have recommended MBCoders in the UK. However I have not personally used them so do not know first hand if they are any good.
I wanted to get the new cle convertible cuz of that but the touchscreen is so insanely useless while driving so i stick to this one and see what hidden features are still available 🤷🏼♂️
@@starwarsfan-ye9hw We drove one this weekend as well. Didnt like it so we are sticking to our 2022 C class convertible. We are looking at a retrofit kit that will upgrade Command to NTG 6.
Hi Nick, Thank you so much for many amazing videos. It’s so helpful.Especially a woman like me who haven’t got a clue! Can I please ask ,should I wait for the glow light before starting my Mercedes A180 D? Manny thanks , Jackie
Hey Jackie, Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos! No you can start it straight away, the car will delay the start for a second or so if it needs to 🤓
I’m glad I finally found a video that talks about NTG5.5 especially from you Nick. Quick question: I am struggling in connecting CarPlay with NTG5.5. Does it come with CarPlay or it is an option for NTG5.5? If so, how can I get CarPlay into it? Thanks.
Ah awesome! 🤓🙏 It depends if you have it, you can tell by pressing HOME and spinning the wheel round to CONNECT. If you have it, it’ll be listed in there
@@npoleary Thank you Nick. Unfortunately, it is not there in the connect page. Any chance I can get it installed by contacting my local Mercedes dealership?
Been having the same problem, I dont have it in my connect menu either but i do seem to have the carplay usb port in my middle console. I also tried the carplay activators to see if that works but no luck so far.
@@dx6553 Same. I have the CarPlay USB port as well and also can see the CarPlay information from the Connect, Information page which makes me so confused and frustrated at the same time. And actually I have ordered the activator as well😂
So the symbol on the port sadly doesn’t mean you have Apple CarPlay. If it’s COMAND unfortunately it can’t be installed afterward unless the whole multimedia system was replaced. Mercedes dealerships don’t offer this as they’re only allowed to sell cars as they’re described
Hi Nick, I watch your channel for a little long now. I wonder if you ever driven a Mercedes with a left hand steering, for Europe like. I have driven many Mercedes and many other cars from Europe and I noticed the cars from Europe, have an easier to press horn on the steering, compared to the ones in the UK. All the cars in UK, have a very stiff to press horn airbag module. You discovered that? Why that would be in place? Is there any regulation? Thanks!
Thanks djsinsoid, glad you enjoy them! Honestly never tried it! I have driven a left hand drive Mercedes before (although this was in the states) and definitely didn’t want to use the horn out there! 😅😅
@@npoleary I noticed that all the cars in uk are stiff to press the horn. All in Europe are very easy and throughout the whole surface you can press. In uk only on certain areas you can press for the horn to sound but in Europe you can press everywhere and the spring underneath will allow you to press the horn. Maybe one day you will realise the difference and make a video about it. Cheers!
@@npoleary perhaps you can ask at Mercedes or regulators if you have access if there is any requirement regarding horn functionality for Uk separate than Europe. Cheers and all the best.
Hi Nick, I need your help, can't find the answer anywhere. Thx for very thorough instructions. I am puzzled how sometimes in my city those white 3D houses pop up and sometimes they don't. I have NT 5.5. On a MBUX in another car they always pop up. Am I missing something? Thank you.
Ah it’ll just be the different sort of multimedia system map versions. Maps get updated from what I’ve seen 3-4 times a year (as long as you have the Navigation Package subscription on Mercedes me). MBUX is of course the latest so may have greater coverage of 3D buildings etc. Usually it’ll be cities where that’s covered just like when Apple Maps & Google Maps introduced a similar thing a few years ago.
Nick, could you do one of you legendary videos for Navigations with Electronic Intelligence. Specific for EQ vehicles. In particular how you understand which charging station is selected, how you can reject this is should you need to and select another. Thanks
I’m currently having my original Command NTG 5.5 upgraded to MBUX touchscreen in my 2020 W205 FL C200 Estate. This upgrade is being done through my MB dealer in Western Australia, so all parts are genuine. The original Command dial controls will still be in place though, so It will continue to function with MBUX. Could you please offer some tips and tricks for using such integrated systems.
Oh wow…Mercedes dealerships aren’t allowed to “modify” cars in the UK. That’s so strange it’s allowed there, cool though! I’ve got loads of Tips & Tricks on Mercedes just here: ruclips.net/p/PLyo-duQc8myqCIqf8E_-x-3dMZ50uKIHA
Do you know what operation system the 2019 4 door AMG GT (X290) has? It seems like it is somewhere in the middle between 5.5 and 6.0. It does not have the touch screen but it seems a little better resoltion compared to the one you are showing now.
Really sorry not ever sat in one So I’m guessing COMAND NTG 5.5 or MBUX (swaying more toward the first one) If it’s not touchscreen then it’ll be COMAND NTG 5.5
Kind of briefly covered it on a video before (think it was the live traffic renewal one) but it’s basically Live Traffic Information but faster. If a report is sent from the car, it will be reflected on other people’s Sat nav’s almost instantly.
@@MedBouchenafa You have to push down on the scroll wheel when in navigation mode, this then brings up options one of which is car to x . Select that and it will then ask what the problem is then send it out to others with car to x.
Hey Colin, sadly I haven’t seen anything on this to be honest on any Sat Nav (even Google Maps or Apple Maps, unless it’s extremely well hidden or something). But certainly not seen anything in a car yet.
Just because I assume it is Sat Nav-related: Why do some cars have the antenna (looks like a painted piece of soap) on the roof or trunk (convertibles) and others don't?
Not sure, I guess it’s just the design. Some cars have an antenna built into the windscreen but I’m guessing then some (because they’re smaller)might need a separate antenna for GPS or DAB radio.
