It is absolutely wonderful! I’m sure you will be happy there. We have a big stump like that…we leveled it off and got a great big wine barrel garden pot that sits on top (I think from Home Depot) and now it serves as my seasonal flower pot…..Love the Green Man! If you didn’t know…It’s very becoming that you pick this out as one of the first items for your new how home. He is a symbol of Rebirth and represents a cycle of new beginnings…..he will protect your new home well! Enjoy the journey!

I have the same hummingbird feeder as you. Unfortunately the hummingbirds have migrated south for the winter. Here where I live in southern Wisconsin they seem to leave about the first day of autumn and return around late April to early May. I would move the feeder up on the deck so you can enjoy watching them closer and make it easier to refill. 😊

If you keep the hummingbird feeder full of fresh sugar water the hummingbirds will stay all winter long! I P.S. a 4 to 1 water to sugar ratio works well. if you hang a feeder in front of a window you can enjoy them from inside the comfort of your home.

Your new surroundings look so beautiful and the water trickling down the ravine is so peaceful sounding. Everything looks so green and lush. We have been having a drought in Texas and when you walk across the grass, it just makes a crunching sound and is very dusty. I am so happy that you got relocated and everything is working out well. Do you like gnomes? Everything screams gnomes land with your fairy like environment . I can't wait to see what you do with your flowerbeds. You are so smart and talented! I like your fire pit area. Looks very inviting. Sophie looks like she is adjusting well and will be very happy as long as she has you there. Already looking forward to your upcoming videos. Looks like a great spot to be - lots of potential for gardens loaded with hostas and ferns - with regard to the big stump, I'd suggest a large pot with plants that trail over the edges and then a bit of a garden around the base of the stump. Walking trails and a creek right out your back door - awesome - in the summer you can take a chair down there and paddle your feet in the water to cool off.

  • @oldyellow8120

So very pleased to see you in your new site. It is so much nicer than the one that you almost took earlier, so things do work out for the better lots of times. That ravine is incredible - I love the moss and ferns and when the creek starts running more normally, the sounds will be beautiful. You must be so happy! What a wonderful opportunity to be creative and make your site exactly what makes you envision!
An idea for the stump: I had to have a huge Norway Spruce cut down that was leaning towards my house. The stump is about two feet in diameter. I had it cut low to the ground, and instead of making a huge mess grinding it out, I drystacked fieldstones on it to make a cairn. I had a great time sourcing the stones and fitting them together to make a sort of beehive shaped cairn that is over three feet tall. There is something very peaceful and enduring about it, and now lichen has started to grow on it making it even more interesting. It's sole purpose is to give me peace. I'm sure that lots of other things could be done too, but here's one idea.

The hummingbird feeder can go anywhere you fancy! I have a long veranda so I have 3 spaced along the edge of the roof. 3 because they chase each other away 😂. I can sit right beside one and the birds still come. It's amazing to watch and hear them from so close. You could hang one off the little roof over your steps.

Oh this spot is just beautiful Adelina. So happy for you!!! The big tree stump offers lots of possibility - leveled off with a table top fitted for outside picnics, potting up plants etc. Or a skilled chainsaw carver could make it into a seat, or simply surround it with a circular garden and let vines tumble over it. I guess ivy is okay in Canada, here in our temperate climate in Aotearoa/New Zealand it takes over in a totally invasive journey. As do some of the Jasmines. I love star jasmine though, it doesnt take over and is a beautiful evergreen with sweet smelling little white flowers in spring. All the best in your new place, peaceful and lovely.

With the stump you can get a stump grinder or have a chainsaw artist turn it into something. (Bird, fern, bear, mushroom etc. Whatever screams Adelina.)

A bag of instant concrete mix normally found at box stores like Lowes/Home Depot and some pretty glass stones /marbles and you can make some lovely stepping stores. I used a 5 gal bucket to mix the concrete in, then I used a lid from a 5 gallon trash can or a larger one as a mold, or you can make a form from whatever to put in the colorful stones and in poured the concrete mixture over them. When dry I set them into the ground to step on..
Or, you can simply dig a hole in the earth as big and as deep (at least 2-3" deep) as you want your stepping stones to be, set in the colorful stones and pour concrete over them and when dry dig up them up and reset in your spot where you are forming a path.

Like you, I’m an introvert 🙃 and I love to be alone in contact with nature. I hate city noise, but love and need nature sounds: the birds, the water, the wind hitting the branches and the leaves of the trees, even the dog’s barking... all nature sounds... not humans ones😅😢... Sorry, that’s how I am and what I like. So... enjoy your new place it really looks and feels awsome🌸

Very serene and lovely location for your home. So many incentives to enjoy the out doors. Love your new patio and future out door fire spit with surrounding colorful lounge chairs. I am very happy that you made this dream come true! I think Sophie is going to like her new place too!

I am sooo happy for you! What a wonderful location. I’m familiar with that landscape - I’m in West Vancouver, LOTS of creeks and greenery - and also with the conditions you mentioned and, yes, we’re talking about the rains that are coming this week … yeah! I believe you’ll love this new place. It’s everything I’d want, too. Much love to you and Sophie.

Excited to see your new space. Heard chickens in the background too. What an adventure! We lost our house to fire in the spring which was clearly really hard, BUT it has opened up some wonderful possibilities as we try to figure out what will replace our house. A new adventure for us too. Looking forward to seeing how things progress.

So happy for you, Adelina! I can imagine what you’ll do w/that lovely space & to think it was created just for you & Sophie.
This entire series has been really great to watch. I can’t recall if I commented last week when your wonderful movers were backing the house in. What a great job they did!
I would have had to take a little walk & not watch every bit also-too nerve-wracking.
But you’ve made such great progress. I always like to envision what it’ll be like when it’s all said & done (or as I take baby steps towards my vision), but I know you have no issues w/that thnx to your daily meditations.
I love that you found the “green man” sculpture-what a find! He’ll be the guardian of your land & house.
Good luck finding a little car to zip around the island & elsewhere in.
I’m so glad you’re feeling more at peace; it’s just going to get better and better, you know it!
Love you so much, my dear friend.~m
