When Cole saw Aemond show up it wasn’t that he was feeling good. It was his realization that his plotting buddy was plotting to have Aegon take a L. He looked on like “ooooooh”
I'm so glad they put the lights on for this epic showdown. We got to see every detail of this battle; not for one second was I squinting or trying to figure out what was happening. What an amazing and brave piece of TV.
They are at the mercy of their riders will. The link between dragon and targerrian blood is very strong. No matter how much they still care for one another, they are at the behest of anyone who claims them. Evil or not. Slaves.
Alicent: "Aegon, don't do anything to put yourself in danger!" Aegon two hours later: "Alright boys let's do this! LEEEROYYYYY JENNNKINNNS..." Crispy Cole: "OMG, he just went in...." Aemond: "Aegon, you are just stupid as hell."
Alicent didn’t say “to put yourself in danger.” She coldly said “do nothing” in answer to the question of what he could do to be helpful. She essentially told him he was worthless.
Rhaenys' death is sadder if you think that Vhagar was the dragon of her beloved daughter Laena and that Aemond "stole" the right to claim her from his granddaughter Rhaena
As Maelys cast a final glance at Rhaenys, essentially bidding farewell, I found myself deeply moved. Regardless of one's allegiance, such moments evoke genuine sadness.
The thing i love about this series is how multi-faceted the antagonists are, they have elements that make you like them, believe they'd be good people if they weren't surrounded by so much bloodlust. Except Cole, fuck that guy
Since you asked, the brew given to Alicent in this episode is referred to as Moon Tea in the books, with menstruation being referred to as having one’s Moon’s Blood. The ingredients mentioned in the book include tansy, wormwood and pennyroyal, all of which could bring on a miscarriage in real life, and should definitely be avoided by pregnant women. In the primary series of Game of Thrones, Lysa Arryn was forced to drink it by her father when she became pregnant by Petyr Baelish as an unmarried, young girl. It resulted in both lasting physical and mental damage for Lysa. I would imagine that if taken right away, as more of a preventative, the physical damage is minimal to unlikely.
Aemond also had his sword out to finish off his brother. Only stopped when cole showed up. My guess is he is hurt but alive since Aemond had his sword out.
Those of us who have read the book know the outcome of people and the war, know not to get attached to characters but its hard. Rhaenys and Meleys RIP. And Daemon is at the wrong place with a guilty conscience. A cursed haunted place with a Weirwood tree. You noticed he woke up in front of it last episode. Not to mention the bed he is sleeping on is made of Weirwood. So close to ending Crispy Cole, Lord of Projection
I think she knew she was on a kamikaze mission. She was the one til now saying never send in the dragons because it’s a nuclear option. She decided that’s the only option left and took it upon herself to do this showing Rhaenyra this is what they have to do. I love the exchanged look of Meleys and her knowing it was the end and thanks for all the memories type of look. I guess Aegon shouldn’t have humiliated Aemond last episode. I feel that he’s still alive but in bad shape because they would’ve shown him dead. Sad to see her and her dragon go. It was truly heartbreaking
The concoction that Alys gave Daemon was Weirwood sap, it's what Bran consumes to enhance his Greenseer powers. He drank it because he had just seen her eat some and then add hot water to it. In the books, it is said that she appears younger than she really is, but according to the showrunner, Ryan Condel, she is 400 years old.
The Reds couldn't send more than one dragon because then Dragonstone would be unguarded. Keep in mind Rhaenyra's dragon is mid-sized while Jace's and Baela's are relatively small (smaller than Aegon's). With Daemon gone, sending Rhaenys was the only real option.
My big issue was how stupid Rhaenyras decision to sneak into KL was (and also how recognizable she was in the disguise while being accused of murdering the prince). But I'm very happy Jace mentioned it and questioned it in this episode.
Not really because nobody would know who she is it’s been a while and when she was spotted she was wearing gowns and jewels at least this costume covered her head and body so much harder to recognise not to mention many Targaryen’s actually became septon’s at this time so nobody would put 2 and 2 together if they saw her hair colour.
They believed Vhegar was guarding Kings Landing but Cole and Aemond knew due to the proximity to Dragonstone, they blacks would have to make moves. To Rhaenys and Meyles credit, they took Vhegar to the ground. She just made the critical mistake of not suspecting that sneak attack. 😢😢😢
And see Valyrians who have properly bonded with their Dragon, can FEEL each other... When VHAGAR took out Meleys Rhaenys could feel Meleys' Agony... So in a way they BOTH DIED at the same time.
People keep forgetting that Vhagar has 180 years of countless battles under her belt, she rode with Aegon the Conqueror. She has more combat experience and tactical training than all the other dragons combined. She’s much more than just sheer size.
In season 1, Rhaenys said she wouldn’t leave Meleys when she was escaping King’s Landing. The Queen Who Never Was lived fearlessly, and died amidst Fire and Blood.
@@darthnihilus8669that's true lmao he's pretty dumb in the books he keeps taking rash decisons that end up in lots of failed moments for greens . In the show they might change that tho
Some symbolism that I like The dragon statue that alicent dropped broke a wing = sunfyre falls from the sky and loses a wing The red dragon cup falls and shatters = rhaenys and meleys fall and crash.
Rhaenys wanted to make sure she does everything she can this time, she was the first one to get blamed for not ending the greens when she had the chance. This was her second and a more "proper" chance, since it's already a war.
the effects in this episode were beautiful and terrifying. i kind of expected vhaegar to pop up in front of the castle - i hated being right. since we didn't get a gratuitous shot of aegon's body, i wonder if he will have been disabled by the fire and the fall and will be still alive in the next episode. it would be sad if he ended up like his father.
Aegon is in his 20’s now and a grown man. i think it’s time to stop babying him. viserys is highly responsible as well for how aegon turned out yet people don’t hate on him the same way people do on alicent. Also, otto was way worse to aegon in episode 2 than alicent has been and people liked him for yelling at aegon but get mad at alicent. smells like misogyny to me.
It's said that Meleys wanted to die with Rhaenys, because she didn't want another rider that didn't love her as much. Their bond was immense. Vhagar was used as a war dragon, so she doesn't tolerate anything very much (like Luke's dragon firing at her, and Vhagar not listening and ended up killing them both). Her last rider allowed her to rest, after all those years of fighting; like the time when she was trying to dodge the fight with Caraxes. But then Aemond had to go and ruin it.
Sunfire screams, Meleys and Rhaenys bond crack me up. We all are here for the dance of the dragons, but they’re savage. This war is the beginning of the downfall from Targaryens exactly because many dragons also died.
A Dragon does not bow and neither shall I. Rhaenys Targaryen. In the books it was trap devised by Criston Cole two against one. The Battle started between Sunfyre and Meleys until Daemon and Vhagar came from above. Rhaenys was a warrior through and through and she died for the cause she wholeheartedly believed in. Also what makes it even more heartbreaking is that once upon a time Meleys and Vhagar were once besties in a sense. She was Queen Alyssa's dragon and Vhagar was her Husbands Baelon. They flew all the time together and spent lots of time flying.
It HAD to be Rhaenys and Meleys. People are crying…yes I did as well but at the end of the day She redeemed herself because she could have ended it before it began. Also she was counseling Rhaenyra the entire time advising her to hold back from the attack. She died a Queen though. Her death just changed the game. And she was trying to push Corlys to name a successor as well because she KNEW that he is gonna be setting out to avenge her leaving Driftmark Throne vulnerable.
Probably my fav. episode. My one issue is I don't think there's any way an experienced combo like R&M take their eyes off their biggest threat (A&V). No shot that happens. Also, if Aegon is somehow alive, this ep will lose many points with me. No way he should survive that fall.
@@andrewward5891 I'm glad the added the Valyrian steel armor, it makes Aegons survival more plausible. There is no Valyrian steel armor in Fire and blood.
Rhaenys could litteraly end the war here. That's why she stayed. The 5 biggest threats of Team Green are here : Aemond/Vhagar, Criston Cole, and Aegon/Sunfyre. Aegon/Sunfyre were out, and she was doing well against Vhagar, putting her down against all odds. It was her duty to try. A success would have given the victory to Team Black. If Vhagar (or at least Aemond) and Sunfyre were both killed, the Greens would only have two dragons left : Tessarion and Dreamfyre. Dreamfyre is not a warrior/fighting type (like Syrax), and Tessarion is still young and too tiny to beat a dragon like Caraxes.

“The bowl was too shallow.” 🤣🤣🤣
Vhagar and Meleys were like besties becoz they were dragons of daemon and viserys mother and father
They are at the mercy of their riders will. The link between dragon and targerrian blood is very strong. No matter how much they still care for one another, they are at the behest of anyone who claims them. Evil or not. Slaves.

Alicent: "Aegon, don't do anything to put yourself in danger!"
Aegon two hours later: "Alright boys let's do this! LEEEROYYYYY JENNNKINNNS..."
Crispy Cole: "OMG, he just went in...."
Aemond: "Aegon, you are just stupid as hell."
minutes later.... "At least i have chicken"
Alicent didn’t say “to put yourself in danger.” She coldly said “do nothing” in answer to the question of what he could do to be helpful. She essentially told him he was worthless.
I’ve started watching your reactions without watching episodes first, and absolutely love it! “Is he dead” lol
Rhaenys' death is sadder if you think that Vhagar was the dragon of her beloved daughter Laena and that Aemond "stole" the right to claim her from his granddaughter Rhaena
Make it even sadder.
Meleys was ridden by Viserys and Daemon’s mother, Alyssa and Vhagar was their fathers mount
@@vargr2089i knew it, is fuckin’ sad 😭😭😭
I'm so tired of people not understanding lore you can't steal a dragon aemond had as much of a right to vhagar as rheana did

As Maelys cast a final glance at Rhaenys, essentially bidding farewell, I found myself deeply moved. Regardless of one's allegiance, such moments evoke genuine sadness.
Aegon probably looks like Anakin after he fought Kenobi
My guess is he is hurt but alive since Aemond had his sword out.
episode 4 is really heartbreaking I can't believe they killed Melïse they witnessed a dragon extinction it's horrible
I love that previous actors have cameos. 😊
I love how they show both Aegon and Rhaenys having a sweet bonding moment with their dragons before they take off for Rooks Rest.
It was truly heartbreaking
on paper dragons fighting sounded so cool, in reality it broke me. I love them so much😭
plan tea!!!! hahahahahahaha you guys are funny
Cole tea.
Aemond also walked off with the Dagger.
Finally 🎉 reactors that had the same thought process as me 😢 I believe they should've sent all the dragons to help since it was so clearly a trap!
and this is just the first Dance…
one of the best episodes in the entire GoT universe
I agree the build up was just perfect my fave episode ever
The Reds couldn't send more than one dragon because then Dragonstone would be unguarded. Keep in mind Rhaenyra's dragon is mid-sized while Jace's and Baela's are relatively small (smaller than Aegon's). With Daemon gone, sending Rhaenys was the only real option.
You mean the Blacks.
I love Cody's commentary, hilarious... Been watching you guys from GOT ... And I watched the show 6 years ago
from the start Rhaenys just had the look of someone who knew she was getting into something she wasnt coming back from
She should have gone to kings landing with Daemon. That's twice now rhaenys could prevent disaster and failed
29:21 Reflection in the background.
And see Valyrians who have properly bonded with their Dragon, can FEEL each other... When VHAGAR took out Meleys Rhaenys could feel Meleys' Agony... So in a way they BOTH DIED at the same time.
Ohhhh this was a good one. Not just the obvious spectacle but the way they built up to it and laid down the groundwork beforehand.
oscar and grover tully lol the sesame street/jim henson reference cracked me up
People keep forgetting that Vhagar has 180 years of countless battles under her belt, she rode with Aegon the Conqueror. She has more combat experience and tactical training than all the other dragons combined. She’s much more than just sheer size.
Incredible Episode
Insanity at the end
I agree with you the writing has been fantastic
We were all bridgette at the end of the episode, we don't want to WAIT a whole week !!
In season 1, Rhaenys said she wouldn’t leave Meleys when she was escaping King’s Landing.
The Queen Who Never Was lived fearlessly, and died amidst Fire and Blood.
Aemond is one of the real dangers with or without Vhagar 💀🔥
Too many people underestimate his prowess with the blade.
No tf he's not.... he's nothing without vhagar

@@darthnihilus8669that's true lmao he's pretty dumb in the books he keeps taking rash decisons that end up in lots of failed moments for greens . In the show they might change that tho
@@angelyuqi6709 in the books not in the show :P
I was WAITING for this
11:36 they did not know of the pull out way yet
Some symbolism that I like
The dragon statue that alicent dropped broke a wing = sunfyre falls from the sky and loses a wing
The red dragon cup falls and shatters = rhaenys and meleys fall and crash.
"I don't wanna wait another weeeek 😢" - bridgette and all of us
If she’s dead he better be dead too. But did y’all see how Aemond just walked away 😂😂
I don't think Aegon is dead. But you never know the way these writers change shit up.
My favorite Dragon 😢 Rip the Red Queen
12:01 I choked on my own saliva 😂😂😂
Aegon is in his 20’s now and a grown man. i think it’s time to stop babying him. viserys is highly responsible as well for how aegon turned out yet people don’t hate on him the same way people do on alicent. Also, otto was way worse to aegon in episode 2 than alicent has been and people liked him for yelling at aegon but get mad at alicent. smells like misogyny to me.
nice reaction keep it up 💚
It's said that Meleys wanted to die with Rhaenys, because she didn't want another rider that didn't love her as much.
The concoction Alys Rivers gave Daemon looked like Weirwood sap. That is what Bran consumed to enhance his Greenseer dreams.
King Viserys the Peaceful kinda had a point about keeping the realm together and not wanting to ride dragons
People spent Aegon's whole life trying to get him on the throne...and didn't think to prepare him for the job.
Rhaenys going out like the badass icon she is ❤
Sunfire screams, Meleys and Rhaenys bond crack me up. We all are here for the dance of the dragons, but they’re savage. This war is the beginning of the downfall from Targaryens exactly because many dragons also died.
“Sleep in “ 🤣🤣🤣yeah we all know the damage vhagar does once she shows up
A Dragon does not bow and neither shall I.
Cody saying there’s gonna be flashy moments made me chuckle considering this episode is like a damn flash bang gernade
The writing is still good, especially compared to late GoT. I think the psople who are mad are going to be mad about any changes from the books.
That is always the case with adapting books to live action,
People can never be satisfied.
The sarcasm? I love yall💀❤️
Probably my fav. episode. My one issue is I don't think there's any way an experienced combo like R&M take their eyes off their biggest threat (A&V). No shot that happens.
Also, if Aegon is somehow alive, this ep will lose many points with me. No way he should survive that fall.
Aegon was wearing Valyrian steel armor (literal plot armor)
Sunfyre somewhat broke Aegons fall
@@andrewward5891 I'm glad the added the Valyrian steel armor, it makes Aegons survival more plausible. There is no Valyrian steel armor in Fire and blood.
In the book the only reason Rhaenys and Meleys didnt kill Vaghar and Aemond is Sunfyre, in the episode Sunfyre is kinda useless which is a bit sad
Rhaenys wanted a dragonrider's death, like her daughter. I love that detail. RIP
Poor Sunfyre, the amount of disrespect :( In the book Sunfyre is the main reason Vaghar wasn't killed by Meleys, in this he seems useless :/
