Am I the only one not listening to this audiobook for school/college? I've read this play many times, it is one of my favourite stories, and gave this a listen out of curiosity. I have to say, the person who plays Algernon is FANTASTIC!

I was the narrator. I have several times reviewed the comments on this FREE recording. I have been surprised at how mean-spirited, nasty, vile-spoken, ignorant, xenophobic and downright cruel some people have been in the various RUclips versions of this project. These people do not deserve to be exposed to literature, whether read aloud by professionals or amateurs, or (supposing any of them are actually literate) by themselves. If I had known that abusive, verbally sadistic, cowardly people like these were to be the recipients of my recordings, I should never have bought a microphone and exposed myself to their ugly mockery.

To worry thyself with the opinions of the lower class is a mockery of thyself. Worry not what the squabbling masses believe, popular opinion tends to be the wrong opinion my dear sir. The squabbling masses are allowed access to higher readings such as this in hopes that we can educate them and bring this mockery of a world back from the brink of destruction by drunken WWE exhibitions and the such.

In fact, now that I think about it, perhaps the reason I actually like this play so much, is because I was never forced to read it. I remember having to read various books and no matter how enjoyable they may objectively be, they have been soured by the obligation of having to read them. Actually, I can hardly recall one book that was on the obligatory reading list that I enjoyed reading, or would like to read again, no matter how iconic and supposedly good they are. Maybe it'd be better if students were given a wide selection of books on any given topic or of any given time period from which they could freely choose. It's really a shame so many valuable pieces of work were ruined for so many people for the sole reason of being made to read them...

There are many books I'd like to read and others re-read, but being that everything one does is on the computer or the phone, my eyes get tired, and I don't feel like reading for fun, so this is a great find for me. I particularly really wanted to re-read this book. I LOVE Oscar Wilde! Thank you very much. 😊

Tough Questions 55:35 - 'will you do this for me?'
Memory Moment 1:12:51 - She remembered the proposal from three months ago while he didn't? Shows expectations and love variance
Contrasts and Contradictions 1:24:10 - argument between the women about the engagement and trying to one-up each other/put the other down
AHA Moment 2:05:58 - tells him who he really is, who his family is, who his brother really is. His identity.
Again & Again 2:09:58 - his reassurance that people actually like him for HIM, not just his name.
