The South Bend Elkhart metro is definitely becoming a industrial hotspot. Hosting various factories and satellites from larger Chicago and Detroit based conglomerates. Believe me I work in the area and they are a lot of jobs, unfortunately housing can't keep up, driving up prices...
Another couple of miles and you'd be in Michigan. 20 and 31 used to go right through South Bend, but were moved to upgraded freeways to accomodate Notre Dame and various industries in the area. 31 continues as a freeway until it hits I-94.
Great drive on US 20 to South Bend Indiana. This is a good route to get to Interstate 90 and to Gary as well. This reminded me of PA 581 in Pennsylvania
A city worth driving through, especially since their skyline got much bigger since the Pandemic, is Grand Rapids MI: Great approaches from US-131 Northbound, I-196 Eastbound & Westbound.
Nice drive on US 20 to US 31 in South Bend. After 40 years US 31 is now connected to Interstate 94 and BL 94 (Main St) near Benton Harbor.
I used that route last time I went to Grand Rapids. It was almost non stop

It turns into I-196 North of I-94, then goes back to US-31 in Holland.
did they keep/change the signage of the old route 20 to a business 20 route through the city?
@@efil4kizum No. It appears old 20 has been turned back to the city. There is a Business 31 on Michigan and old US 33 is now IN 933.
