I think that most fans who followed Morrissey from the The Smiths to his solo career would think "Vauxhall & I" is his best solo album. There's hardly a weak song on it.
This album really flows beautifully from start to finish. And although this isn’t one of the stand out songs, in my opinion, it still works really well in the album. ‘Spring-Heeled Jim’ next please. 😀
One of my favourites. The guitars have beautiful tone; as does Morrissey voice. It’s a simple, but really dreamy tune and never gets old. Nice reaction and analysis as always.
"You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side" from 1992 is a fun, catchy surf-rock gem. "Suedehead" from 1988 is a beautiful and memorable song with a music video that pays tribute to 50s actor and icon James Dean. "The First Of The Gang To Die" is another great one, from 2004.
You have done quite a few off this album, which you have all enjoyed, aren't you ever tempted, just to listen to the whole album, if I heard the songs you have listened to, from this album, I would think I've got to listen to the rest of this album.
It can be hard and I do have some of his albums, so I could easily listen to the songs, but I want to react to them, so I put up with not listening to them yet. It's a little hard though.
InsignificantNick that must be very hard to resist, I admire your willpower, now that you have reacted to all The Smiths songs , do you now go back and listen to them privately and do you listen to whole albums , if so want is your favourite?
Supergrass. Nobody ever reacts to Supergrass apart from one or two who have reacted to Alright. May I recommend Caught By The Fuzz, a great tale about a teenager falling foul of the law for a petty misdemeanour.
Beautiful song ❤️

Yes, this and Kill Uncle. Fabulous co-writers.
Hey, Nick.
Possibly my favourite of Moz's...sad, beautiful; beyond gorgeous xxo
This and Now my heart is full are my favorites from this album.
Speedway is one of my favorite Morrissey songs indeed. Looking forward to next week!
"Now my heart is full" and "Speedway" are related songs. And they are the "book-ends" of the album "Vauxhall and I"
Definitely. And apparently the intro to 'SPEEDWAY' were actual Chainsaws recorded live in the Studio. How Morrissey/Boz was that . TWU

I loved this song when I purchased this song on the VAUXHALL AND I Album in the late 1990s.
Great review as always, you should listen to Speedway off the same album
