The motown-style bassline is certainly reminiscent of several songs - as well as 'Maneater', there is 'Can't Hurry Love' by the Supremes (and Phil Collins), or maybe even 'Town Called Malice' to compare it to. There is a "duet" version of this song on RUclips between Morrissey and Sandie Shaw - I say "duet" because I'm not sure if it is simply Moz's version with Shaw's vocals added on top.
I prefer the duet version with Sandie Shaw personally. Another solid track. Particularly like his voice when he sings ‘I know this, I’ve known this for years’ Hope you feel fully better soon!
