what? the bag pipes are amazing! good to see two different styles collaborate and they actually pull it off! kudos to Blondie! and Clem Burke is one of my favorite drummers ever!
It's amazing that at their height they could have played stadiums but always refused and opted for the smaller theater venues. They were always thinking of their fans over the money they could have made. That's integrity and class!
I saw this tour, at The Hammersmith Odeon. It was my first gig, I was 9. I will never forget it all my life and am soooo proud to say I was there. Jimmy Destri was my first crush! Debbie Harry was and is a LEGEND and I can't wait to see her again this year at Camp Bestival!
@@MrSuicidal69 I live in Germany, so Glasgow is far away from here, I´ve only been once in Glasgow a long time ago, 1997. But to see this gig I need a time-machine 😢
@nick1137 Clem Burke , kills it, i have been practicing "dreaming for a month, he is just killing it, and the visual's with the stick release, Clem Burke, is one of the best drummer's i have ever seen !
@@RightCenterBack321 Hardly underrated. Rolling Stone rated him #61 out of their top 100 drummers. He's always been widely acclaimed. Eurythmics grabbed him for a tour. He's played with Dylan, many others. Sold many many records. Big fan base.
Probably a daft thing to say... But imo they were completely underated with regard to the Guys Musicianship particularly the Drummer and Debbies stage presence. I was lucky to see them live several times awlays in smaller venues and they were absolutely brilliant.
Sorry, but no....hardly underrated. You're not the only one to say so. Where does that impression come from? I'm not saying this to be mean, but HUH? Because Rolling Stone rated him #61 out of their top 100 drummers. Widely acclaimed.
This is my favorite live version of Blondie's "Sunday girl." Bagpipe introduction, a wholehearted rendition on Deborah's part, and an audience that is completely in tune with the music! Nothing but fun, fun, fun!
i tried to record that on my tape recorder..it was new years eve..everyone was shouting 'happy new year' ruined my tape lol! i went to 'em 7 days later..brilliant!
It's cut off because the original broadcast was part of "Old Grey Whistle Test" and they rolled the credits at that point. The DVD producers didn't realise we'd like to see the whole performance dispite the captions!
OMG it was fantastic time in my life.Imemigrated from Yugoslavia and lived nine months in London.Every days hits on London Capital radio,Great Disco perfomances in Lecester Sqare and movies as Superman,Saturday Night feewer too.I can nor remember all but there was nice Disco clubs around. Not so many mixed people.Few dark looking guys and girls.Sort of nice to see.Exsotic kind off.
Saw them in 1979 in the States.....she was great, so gorgeous! Loved this album. I wonder how much of the times she performed high. My dad came to pick us up after the concert and looked inside her limo........stocked bar and he saw her reach for the hooch.... No, I didn't witness this, but the concert was great!
You know, alot of times a performer feels the need to hop and sashay around like some discodancer on coke. I thought Debbie's casual coolness on stage was perfect for the music. Oh, that, and he's the all time mega hottie.
In Making Tracks Debbie talks about this gig. Some of the songs were put in at the request of the BBC and the band hadn't even rehearsed them for the tour!
I read somewhere that she found out that her ethnic background was Scottish. I don't think she ever met her biological parents but she found out just enough to figure out her background. If she is Scottish I have to say she is one GORGEOUS piece of Scottish specimen!
What DVD is this concert available on? I remember watching a televised concert in the late 70's, could be the same one, and I'd love to own it on DVD. I've got the farewell concert but it's not a patch on this era!
At 2:10 Debbie has her scarf... at 2:11 it is GONE!......I didn't know Ms. Harry was a magician too!!! I guess if the music scene doesn't work out, she has her other talent. Childrens birthday parties. "Hire Debbie... the HOT magician!" "Fun for kids and adults......
This was from a TV broadcast and they rolled the credits due to scheduling. I would have thought they'd have kept the cameras rolling and given the full perfomrance on the DVD. Blondie also opened the concert with X Offender prior to it going live on TV which has Dreaming as the opener. The concert was badly filmed and lacks the energy and atomosphere you get at a Blondie gig.
Remember this concert, that dress, the bagpipes, fabulous, I wish I was young again.
Was blessed to have seen this at the Apollo when I was 15 omg the nostalgia.. every man wanted her every lassie wanted to be her .. Timeless ❤
I love the bagpipes on this. Such a gorgeous melody to begin with and the bagpipes certainly elevate it.
Best use of bagpipes since AC/DC.
this night and this moment was the perfect end to the 70's
what? the bag pipes are amazing! good to see two different styles collaborate and they actually pull it off! kudos to Blondie! and Clem Burke is one of my favorite drummers ever!
Best use of bagpipes since It's a Long Way To The Top.
WE WERE THERE WATCHING IT LIVE AT THE APPOLLO GLASGOW. GREAT MEMORIES. LOVED THE GLASGOW POLICE BAND PLAYING THE BAGPIPES.

Wow, this is the best live performance of Sunday Girl. Sublime!
Dreaming and Sunday Girl. How I wished I was at The Apollo that night.
@@MrSuicidal69 Me too
@@Alexander_2525 Eventually got to Glasgow to check out the music scene but sadly way too late to see a gig at the Apollo.

I agree. This song was popular when I was in the second year of junior high school. It's a very important song for me. I love it.
My FAVORITE Sunday Girl! ;)

I just saw Blondie on Halloween night and Debbie Harry still looks and sounds great. And Clem Burke can still drum like mad.
A beautiful song about a cat called sunday man that went missing ......fantastic.
She has a wonderful voice this brings back a few memories.
Bagpipes playing Sunday Girl....simply fantastic!

Here is some information every Blondie fan needs to know: Yes, Clem Burke still has that gold suit.

That was well good!! Clem was gettin right into it with the uptempo beats and the crowd sounded brill at the start. That's the Scots for ya!

'Sunday girl' is a cat that "Sunday Boy" (a cat) chased after.
Chris wrote this for Deb.
My favorite Blondie song!!!

I love Sunday Girl. I really wish this had not been cut short.
Glasgow Apollo, magical venue
Blondie were the Beatles of late 70's new wave with brigitte bardot as lead singer.
No stu Deborah Harry is the lead singer ,far better looking and far more talented.......
The bagpipes make this amazing to an already stellar group.
What a great entrance :o) wish I was there ...
Look at the drummer w the golden suit wow...
One of my favorite Blondie songs (obviously), great video, thanks kjinphx2003 for sharing!
I was at a blondie concert at the sec hidro in Glasgow a few days ago
Awsome..
Did any other band come close to being as big as Blondie was in 1979 in the UK?
Abba :-)
Pink Floyd maybe?
I was there the night before. Incredible gig.
Prettiest Sunday Girl ever.
La voz mas bella de todas las otras cantantes.

I love you DEBBIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......
Clem Burke is the best drummer of his generation.
I guess for a woman
Neal Peart

Maravilloso
@BigBulgeCheeks If 'Maria' had been on 'Parallel Lines' back in '78, you would think differently of it. 'Maria' is as Blondie as it gets.
Getting piped in was really classy - but it is blondie :-)

I think Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac did a good job of that as well.
Was this The Old Grey Whistle Test on New Years Eve/Hogmany ?
DH's voice live same quality of studio version; fantastic!
And what about Jimmy Destri, the Farfisa-and-Polymoog-meister ? I didn't go to see Blondie the last time because Jimmy wasn't with them.
Rock goddess Taylor swift who
I know they were an American band, but they come across as very British.
