Hell yea that's a good motor. I've always been an Oldsmobile fan. Started as a 6 year old kid hearing my dad's 68 olds barking off. It was a 1968 Hurst Oldsmobile. 455. Matter of fact I've never seen another factory built "muscle car" that could match it. "The gentleman's hot rod". That's Oldsmobile.
@@FranklinsteinsGarage no problem. 👍 I love content like this. Hell I got a 454 Chevy RV engine that I need to do something with. Damned RV got burned but the motor I had to keep. I'm trying to figure out what imma do with it. Looking for ideas 💡
I have owned a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham for a little over20 years and put over 200k miles on the car myself. I love the sound of the 350 Olds; especially when it's hard to start or won't start. I had to soften up the driver's side seat by replacing it with a 1977 Olds Toronado seat. Now, she feels so good when she is hard to start or won't start. There is absolutely nothing like the moan of an Olds 350!!
Dude you got the distributor a 180 out or the wires are not in sync or something major going on there olds and Pontiac turn opposite of a small block Chevy make sure the wires follow that and it will fire off I would have made her pop off first shot did you put the distributor in ? If so its off by a mile or 180 miles lol
Any idea what year of Oldsmobile this came out of? It pre-HEI, so it might be late 60's/early 70's. I'm sure it would run better with a modern cam, if you know what the compression is.
Not really I found it next to a river bank in a guys yard that I know floods there is a video of us going to get it the thing was half sunk into the mud and locked up but it is HEI so probably late 70s early 80s if I had to guess. Thank you for your comment.
Thanks for posting. I recently acquired a disassembled 350dx engine. Wanted to know, what type of gaskets and head bolts did you use? Then did you disassemble anything, or just start it as is? Thanks again.
I did tear it down because it was locked up from sitting I have videos of doing that and as far as the head bolts go I just re used the factory ones because the engine is honestly not worth putting a ton of money into. Thank you for the comment and please check out some of the other videos on the olds.
You reused the old head bolts ? That's a real no no they stretch now if you drive it like an old lady it will be fine but if you start really hammering on it then you will blow a head gasket or both at the same Tims ask me how I know this lol its a true story I went the cheap route and reused head bolts only once and learned a valuable lesson it cost me time oil head gaskets anti freeze all that at least and then an old timer said well there's your problem lady you didn't get new head bolts dah well after the job was done I hammered and hammered and hammered the shit out of it w never an issue again ran like a champ
I didn't want to put money into an engine that was buried in the mud if I go to use it some day it will be torn back apart and done correctly. Thank you for your comment.
I don't have a ton of experience with them myself but what I can tell you is the one in the video spent 30 years on its side in the mud and flooded over numerous times and I was able to get it to run again. That's a good reliable engine to me ha ha. Thank you for your comment.
Very good motors for their time. They were more reliable than the sbc 350 through the 70's. Mark Remmel at New Olds Performance has brought a bunch of new parts for the Olds 350, including working with Edelbrock on a 68cc aluminum head tested on the Olds 350. I am building one with the forged Mahle 10cc pistons and Molnar rods with s 330 forged crank. I should have got one stroker cranks from Mark, up to 428 ci with the 4" stroke and much easier to balance. A great motor, build it!
Yeah, that was a 180 out and you edit that part from your video. Now. break it down for a rebuilt ... scrap them 185 hp heads out for some early 70's if you can find them ... otherwise go after market that has no EGR valve ports.
That's a good sounding engine. Gotta love a Oldsmobile 👍
Thank you.

It was really low on compression at first from stuck rings I soaked it in atf over night and finally got results lol.
Thick oil use to make mines hard to start I learned way back
Depending on what temperature it is can really make a difference what oil you use also. Thank you for your comment.

How did you make the engine cradle trying to find one but I'll make it if I have to
I just used some 4x4 blocking and screwed them down to plywood I will make one out of metal for it some day tho. Thank you for the comment.

Is that the motor you found in a tree??
