A rare moment where one may be proud to be South African. This brought me to tears. Thank you firefighters! I pray that God keep all of you heroes safe. Amen
How inspiring -this shows their solidarity. I think this ceremony helps to bond these men together knowing they are risking their lives and must depend on their comrades for survival. Good on them! We as the members of planet earth should take a page from their book & have such enthusiasm & spirit into all we do!
I am surprised by the mixed reaction on this clip by a couple of Canadians. These ladies and gentleman have come here to help your country. the fact that they do it in a way that is not normal to you is irrelevant. They are dedicated, and they are going to be risking their lives for YOU. So if you feel that they shouldn't be there, then feel free to report at your local fire station and VOLUNTEER for firefighting training and duty. And then stop bitching about your first-world problems...
I apologize for the gripers, unfortunately there are some who have an axe to grind against our current PM and will make all kinds of ridiculous and shameful comments in their effort to paint anything he does/approves of as a negative. They're quite an embarrassment since I believe we were all raised better than that.
i love it the unity and peace within their hearts bring me to tears it so beautiful they all take time together to learn this dance and enjoy themselves. i wish the whole world was like this. maybe we should all take a leaf out of their books
The blessing Fort Mac has been waiting for was turned down by the Canadian gov, instead you get a group of people who have to be trained in modern firefighting because all they knew and did was pat them out with hardened leather on sticks. They literally turned down the help of the US, Mexico, and Russia. I think the blessing they're looking for is modern firefighting techniques
You guys are awesome. I am sorry that your employer and our government let you down. It was still very appreciated that you came to help. - Joe from fort mcmurray
wow look how happy they are ! it must be an amazing feeling to see your first airplane , to see your first building its like getting transported into the future how wonderful
You're so fucked "With a shortage of water and specialized equipment here, the South African firefighters often use “firebeaters” - wooden sticks with a leather pad attached - to beat out a bush fire. But at their boot camp this month, the South Africans learned new water-handling techniques for the Canadian fires."
@Nano Shitnonome - you posted the same comment on m y Google+ account, with the add-on that I am a "f***ng retarded liberal". Get your priorities straight you right-wing nut. What has one thing to do with another? Those 300 guys dancing a happy dance is a simple feel good story, nothing else. But out comes the hate-mafia dragging everything into a political puddle. I don't give two effs how they extinguish fire in South Africa, but I am grateful they are here to help us out, AND show appreciation for being here. I don't care where you come from you wasted w**k, so stay where you are and hope your shanty-shack is never threatened by fire.
Yes Nancy, you will turn a blind eye as the situation in Alberta worsens - "With a shortage of water and specialized equipment here, the South African firefighters often use “firebeaters” - wooden sticks with a leather pad attached - to beat out a bush fire. But at their boot camp this month, the South Africans learned new water-handling techniques for the Canadian fires."
I hope the firefighters won't read some of the comments made by very ignorant people. Be careful about your comments, as you never know who you might need or save your life .
I'd be a little worried if these guys came to fight my fire. Bad enough the local fire service is a town over, but from Canada? My house will have burned down by the time they reach the airport, never mind the 5700 kilometers to fly.
Clearly your unaware of the fire raging near Edmonton I believe the size of the fire was as big as NY city at one point. Maybe pay attention to the news (And yes it's a story that has been covered in America that's how big the fire is). The Taiga/Boreal forest makes up 30% of the worlds forest cover, thank them for saving the air that you breathe. When you speak on subjects you know nothing about it makes you look like an idiot.
sounds like Canada should have gotten help from people closer to them for how dire this situation is... America and Russia are neighbors.... and then you have the Caribbean and Central America actually on the same hemisphere.... but nah getting people from the other side of the world was a smart and progressive move!
+fuckakakaka these firefighters were trained in a specific program that makes them qualified to work almost as soon as they hit the ground. they were specifically chosen for this purpose. read up a little man. a Google search is a click away
Some of the comments I am seeing here are truly despicable. As a proud Canadian I want to give a heartfelt thank you to our SA friends for their help. We are truly friends and allies. I will never forget that SA had our back in our time of need. Thank you from a grateful nation
Proud of dem Africans eh!. These people are very experienced fighting bush and forest fires. They are singing the Zulu version of "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps......Alberta Inferno by....."The Fire Chammps". Their song is bound for #1 on Canada's top 40.
No they literally aren't experienced at all - "With a shortage of water and specialized equipment here, the South African firefighters often use “firebeaters” - wooden sticks with a leather pad attached - to beat out a bush fire. But at their boot camp this month, the South Africans learned new water-handling techniques for the Canadian fires."
Highly trained? Their training comes from putting out brush fires with hardened leather on a stick, and patting the fire out by hand. They have just very recently been trained by Canada themself how to handle modern firefighting equipment in a 10 day bootcamp because they have never handled modern firefighting equipment. If 10 days of training for something they've never experience before is "highly trained" according to you, i've got some bad news.
Canada is dead "With a shortage of water and specialized equipment here, the South African firefighters often use “firebeaters” - wooden sticks with a leather pad attached - to beat out a bush fire. But at their boot camp this month, the South Africans learned new water-handling techniques for the Canadian fires."
The ones chosen for Canada are the fittest and most skilled of the 5,000 in the organization. Also, they have gone through bootcamp training for a month. Get your facts straight.
Too late the fire destroyed everything and it's gone now

There is so much to love about this amazing moment, including the fact that these guys have landed in the whitest airport on the face of the earth. Kudos, Edmonton, for also being so cool :)
So you import 300 firefighters from the other side of the world and your excuse is that they had "specific" training. So you are telling me that entire USA does not have 300 firefighters who had the same training? Or any other nearby country? Only South Africa has these "one of a kind" firefighters?
Of course the US has 300 firefighters. But it probably doesn't have 300 underemployed recent graduates from a training scheme who are ready willing and able to leave their families for a month to help out.
Thank you young people for SA for helping us. I pray you are safe and I hope the Alberta or Federal govt will top up your wages to be commensurate with the risk you are taking.
That seems about the right level of enthusiasm for getting off an Air Canada flight
LOL
Hahaha, and a chartered one at that...
funny
A rare moment where one may be proud to be South African. This brought me to tears. Thank you firefighters! I pray that God keep all of you heroes safe. Amen

very well put. camaraderie is survival
thank you from Canadians all across the country.

+Silk Eotd glad to hear that. I was beginning to be disappointed in the Canadian insight into and feel for the concept of social justice
Virtue, oh virtue, are you there?
i love it the unity and peace within their hearts bring me to tears it so beautiful they all take time together to learn this dance and enjoy themselves. i wish the whole world was like this. maybe we should all take a leaf out of their books
Not going to lie brought a tear to my eye. Safe journey's to the fire fighters and hope you all make it back home safely.
Thanks for helping us out in a time of need, South Africa.
This is amazing. We are so glad to have you here!!
So beautiful. Thank you South Africa - this is the blessing Fort Mac has been waiting for.
The blessing Fort Mac has been waiting for was turned down by the Canadian gov, instead you get a group of people who have to be trained in modern firefighting because all they knew and did was pat them out with hardened leather on sticks.

Thanks to each and every one of them. Canada always appreciates the assistance of it's friends.
Great camaraderie!!! Thank you and welcome!!
You guys are awesome. I am sorry that your employer and our government let you down. It was still very appreciated that you came to help. - Joe from fort mcmurray
What did our government do to let them down? I haven't heard...sorry to hear it.
wow look how happy they are ! it must be an amazing feeling to see your first airplane , to see your first building its like getting transported into the future how wonderful
Wow, you're an idiot
Kindly crawl back under the rock from whence you came.
Go look at any single picture of Johannesburg, you stooge. Thanks for making us look awful.
I'm sorry did i say something wrong :(

❤ they are INCREDIBLE ...Lucky audience 🎉
This gave me goosebumps! Incredible.
Thank you South Africa 🇿🇦. Love from Canada 🇨🇦
If they're half as good at fighting fires as they are singing Adele, you guys are in for a treat
They are fooking awesome, saw them in 'combat'fighting our own wildfires, they will make a difference...
I love Africans special the fireman they are such humble people and love to sing.
Singing and dancing is a large part of African culture.
who in their right mind dislikes this posting??
Arsonists.
Having trained in KZN with firefighters, I enjoyed this immensely!
This filled my heart with pride.
This is beautiful ! The World coming together to help one another :)
Good idea, agree. And we all need to learn to do it MUCH BETTER as you can see. But it's a start!
I wish my people had a spontaneous song-and-dance sequence we could break into!
oskee wee wee!
oskee wa wa!
holy mackinaw!

I grew up in South Africa randomw strangers could literally pull this off on the moment it was amazing

So thankful for this show of unity and compassion! Thank you!
Love you guys, thanks for coming to Canada :)

Can we trade BlackLivesMatter activists for these guys? Much more positive!
Much more positive because they're not American.
What would South African Blacks know about racial oppression right?
Are you stupid?
oh goodness your brilliant
+Joey Ber you're.
After reading these comments for some time I have dissolved into hysterical laughter : The Divine Comedy lives on! We are all so FUNNY!
Thank You
Viva South Africa, Viva South Africa. Aluta continue.

Being African is so fun
Amazing

Nano Shinonome Why did Canada request for, and accepted their help?
@Eugene Gordon: Thank you and well put!
Nano Shinonome: I guess they learnt how to dress, sing, dance and all they ever know about life, from Canada and by Canadians eh? How arrogant!
+The Truth lmao. The only one making that implication here is you. In no way did the person you're replying to ever mention that.
that was so powerful.
Luv these guys keep the spirit
Thank you :')
One love. One heart.
Sunday Bloody sundaaay
beautiful
Such exuberance! This is very uplifting, and these men and women are highly trained. We need them! Thanks for coming!

great at singing and dancing..let's see how good they are at helping us fight a 1,300,000 Acre fire
You're showing a lot of gratitude to volunteers who left they're families to help strangers halfway across the world
They are some of the best firefighters in the world and have already proven themselves in Canada. The Canadians should be grateful.
+Shadowman I never said I wasn't grateful or anything negative at all. Text doesn't portray tone so you have just misunderstood. I forgive you
+Brendon That's great dude we are definitely grateful. I never said we weren't.
Looks like they provide you wrong.
What's the stomping dance called?
Mandela would be very proud
And now again very disappointed
Just curious why are south african fire fighters in Canada? Unless I missed it.
theres a 600,000 hectare fire in northern Alberta/Saskatchewan now.
it's to hot in SA
Dieversity
Wonderful voices! Stay safe. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Do us proud....I salute you
Oh to be a fly on the wall. This kind of display of solidarity gives me hope for the future. I only wish I could do more to help.
So you import 300 firefighters from the other side of the world and your excuse is that they had "specific" training. Does candian provide health care for them?
At heart they're still warriors
