    How inspiring -this shows their solidarity. I think this ceremony helps to bond these men together knowing they are risking their lives and must depend on their comrades for survival. Good on them! We as the members of planet earth should take a page from their book & have such enthusiasm & spirit into all we do!

    I am surprised by the mixed reaction on this clip by a couple of Canadians. These ladies and gentleman have come here to help your country. the fact that they do it in a way that is not normal to you is irrelevant. They are dedicated, and they are going to be risking their lives for YOU. So if you feel that they shouldn't be there, then feel free to report at your local fire station and VOLUNTEER for firefighting training and duty. And then stop bitching about your first-world problems...

      I apologize for the gripers, unfortunately there are some who have an axe to grind against our current PM and will make all kinds of ridiculous and shameful comments in their effort to paint anything he does/approves of as a negative. They're quite an embarrassment since I believe we were all raised better than that.

    • @Firstlast-ey8tx
      @Firstlast-ey8tx 8 лет назад +5

      The blessing Fort Mac has been waiting for was turned down by the Canadian gov, instead you get a group of people who have to be trained in modern firefighting because all they knew and did was pat them out with hardened leather on sticks.
      They literally turned down the help of the US, Mexico, and Russia.
      I think the blessing they're looking for is modern firefighting techniques

      You're so fucked "With a shortage of water and specialized equipment here, the South African firefighters often use “firebeaters” - wooden sticks with a leather pad attached - to beat out a bush fire. But at their boot camp this month, the South Africans learned new water-handling techniques for the Canadian fires."

      Get your priorities straight you right-wing nut. What has one thing to do with another? Those 300 guys dancing a happy dance is a simple feel good story, nothing else. But out comes the hate-mafia dragging everything into a political puddle.
      I don't give two effs how they extinguish fire in South Africa, but I am grateful they are here to help us out, AND show appreciation for being here.
      I don't care where you come from you wasted w**k, so stay where you are and hope your shanty-shack is never threatened by fire.

      Clearly your unaware of the fire raging near Edmonton I believe the size of the fire was as big as NY city at one point. Maybe pay attention to the news (And yes it's a story that has been covered in America that's how big the fire is). The Taiga/Boreal forest makes up 30% of the worlds forest cover, thank them for saving the air that you breathe. When you speak on subjects you know nothing about it makes you look like an idiot.

    • @kazaamoneal9816
      @kazaamoneal9816 8 лет назад +4

      Highly trained? Their training comes from putting out brush fires with hardened leather on a stick, and patting the fire out by hand. They have just very recently been trained by Canada themself how to handle modern firefighting equipment in a 10 day bootcamp because they have never handled modern firefighting equipment. If 10 days of training for something they've never experience before is "highly trained" according to you, i've got some bad news.

      You're showing a lot of gratitude to volunteers who left they're families to help strangers halfway across the world

      They are some of the best firefighters in the world and have already proven themselves in Canada. The Canadians should be grateful.

      +Shadowman I never said I wasn't grateful or anything negative at all. Text doesn't portray tone so you have just misunderstood. I forgive you

    Oh to be a fly on the wall. This kind of display of solidarity gives me hope for the future. I only wish I could do more to help.

    So you import 300 firefighters from the other side of the world and your excuse is that they had "specific" training. So you are telling me that entire USA does not have 300 firefighters who had the same training? Or any other nearby country? Only South Africa has these "one of a kind" firefighters?

    • @BocciaRaf
      @BocciaRaf 8 лет назад +1

      Of course the US has 300 firefighters. But it probably doesn't have 300 underemployed recent graduates from a training scheme who are ready willing and able to leave their families for a month to help out.

    Thank you young people for SA for helping us. I pray you are safe and I hope the Alberta or Federal govt will top up your wages to be commensurate with the risk you are taking.
