  • Unboxing NEW BETTA FISH TANK AQUARIUM SETUP!!
In this video I unbox and begin setting up my new betta fish tank aquarium. Although betta fish are often mistreated, betta fish require a minimum of 5 gallons, a filter, heater, a diet with a variety of foods and enrichment. This Hygger tank has been on my wishlist for awhile now becasue of it's unique design and I am so excited to get this tank setup and ready for a new betta fish. Comment below what fish you think I should put in here and if you've ever owned this tank! Thank you all for watching!

Hi. I just came across your videos. I am 62 now and have enjoyed aquariums since I was a very young kid. I'm now putting one together for my granddaughter. I'm glad I found your videos and I hope you keep them coming. It's nice to see that young people are more into aquariums/animals more than they are into cellphones!! Take care and I appreciate your expertise on aquariums!

I have a 5 gallon for my Betta and I'm going to transform it into a natural tank with wood and live plants! My Betta is beautiful, he is a shimmering blue the back of his body is our white, his find are also blue and the outer part of his fins are transparent. He also has a very cute black face! I love him so much, I wish I could have a 10 or 15 gallon for him though he looks happy and even made a large bubble nest!

I could really use advice! I got my Betta 4 days ago from an Aquaculture store, and I waited 24 hours before putting him in his 3 gallon tank. I used a clear “bacteria ball” thing and Prime water drops. He explored the tank the first day, but on day 2-4 (currently) he has been staying at the top in the corner with his fins clamped. He won’t really eat pebbles but will eat the dried Betta worms and mysis. He only swims around when I move the water or put my hand in the tank. I checked ammonia level and it’s rated as safe, and the ph is like 7.5 with no nitrates. Do you think he is just stressed? Any advice is appreciated. In his tank I just have a little sponge filter with an artificial plant attached, a live tall plant with leaves (not real big) and another red colored faux leaf plant that has larger flat leaves so he could potentially lay on.

If it’s for bettas, look at Sponge filters. They’re perfect for bettas. You can buy whichever size fits your tank. All you need is the filter and the air pump, air hose, and the little flow valve that typically comes with the filter already.

Hello I have been recently misdirecting into everything I will need for a Betta they sold me a 1 gallon tank which thankfully now I have changed to a five gallon and hopefully in the future a 10 gallon but I'm very worried about the cycle because I have not done one and my fish is in there and I'm worried it's not going to do well if the ammonia levels are high I recently found out about the cycle has to go through. Do you have any tips on what should I do and they also have bought a new filter but my betta looks like it's swimming against the current any idea what I should do for that? All advice is appreciated:)

    • @LostInWestTexas
      @LostInWestTexas Год назад

Get an API test kit. It will tell you all the ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels. You can do hundreds of tests with one kit.
For filters, look at sponge filters. They make tons of sizes, get one for your tank size. You’ll need an air pump and hose to go with it, and a flow valve, but the valve usually comes with the sponge filter.
The sponge filters are a very gentle flow for beta fish, which is perfect.

I literally just went to the Strawberry Festival this weekend and one of the games was a huuuuge round pool filled with water, and then it had hundreds of those little fishbowls floating in the water. If you could throw a ping pong ball into one of the bowls, you got a goldfish in a bag as a prize. And if you made more than one in, they’d give you multiple fish. They had sooo many goldfish in a big plastic tub filled with dirty water and they just stuck a cup in the water and scooped them up, nasty water and all. It was awful.

it’s illegal in most states for fairs and carnivals to give away fish. you have to go through the process of owning a permit to do so, which i’m sure most pop up fairs wouldn’t do. speaking from experience, pet store employees are supposed to ask the buyer what their intentions are with the fish they purchase.

Because now they keep them in 20 gallon tanks that are aerated. When I was a kid they were kept in bowls. And we would keep them in bigger bowls. And just change the water. That's just how it was done. Fish keeping sure has come a long way. For the better to. I have 3 tanks. I've always loved fish. ☺️

I have a story about carnival fish so I was at the fair with one of my friends and we were on our last ride of the night and the ride hadn't started yet and I saw someone throw something at first I thought it was a drink but when I looked closer I saw it was a goldfish I wanted to do something but I couldn't since I was already strapped into the ride. But after the ride I booked it to where I thought the fish was and at first I thought but then I noticed that it was trying to breathe so I picked it up and booked it over to where the goldfish tank was and I put it back in. It probably ended up dying two days later since those tanks are so overcrowded. But at least I saved it from a painful death

I won goldfish from carnivals every summer as a kid growing up in the 90's. Usually they were small common goldfish (like the feeders for turtles at the pet store) and it would have been cheaper to go buy one of those for 19 cents than to play the carnival game and win one, but... eh. I was like 8, so this isn't my fault.
The first few died within a year because randomly coming home with a fish, without an employee to offer any guidance or the internet to google them, was uh... kind of doomed to failure really. Back then, especially, it was thought goldfish went in a BOWL. Yikes.
The last one I won actually lived for like 7 years because by then I had gotten a book about fish from the library (even outdated as it was, it was better than going in totally blind) and had an actual aquarium set up with a filter and a heater (it dropped well below freezing where I was from in the winter).
So yeah, very common carnival/fair prize when I was growing up, but began being phased out around 1998 or so, I noticed. One time the prize was LIVE BABY TURTLES. Ooof. Thank goodness I did not win that game. No way I was prepared for turtle husbandry.

This was in the midwest. Maybe it was different in other parts of the country.

One time we were sent to the street fair unsupervised (also pretty common back then) and all of us won a fish, but my little brother set his down to do something and FORGOT IT. Got home with 4 goldfish, 0 container for them, and the 5th fish was just sitting in a bag on a bench somewhere, hopefully someone found it. What a nightmare for everyone involved really. Woefully irresponsible to offer live animals as prizes.

@@BanthaWorship We did the same thing in the 60s-70s. Goldfish cost hardly anything in the stores in those days. However, we thought we won something very valuable. I think we tried to toss ping pong balls into the little glass bowls where the fish were. If we won, the carnie would put the goldfish in a plastic bag. I'm glad you have those memories!!
