I think it depends how far back from the table you are.. if up close yes.. if back from table half a meter most players elbows rise slightly AND the stroke is FORWARD not all wrist off to the side..
It depends on how much time and space you have overall. Sometimes you can stand close to the table and an opponent can give you a ball that has height and time. Then you also play that ball with twist and more body
Brett got me to change to a hiromoto backhand. Right hip back a bit pulls elbow back a bit, then punch like with wrist flick action. People have trouble blocking it. Any comments on this backhand?
Brett Clarke is one of these very very unique and rare species who is often always correct with these things. I know what concept he is talking about and I think it’s great. But again, it’s not applicable for every single ball. It’s one effective way to do it against medium fast type balls.
