Same.. I live really close to the beach (I can see the ocean from my balcony and bedroom window) but I’d rather swim in our pool. I haven’t even been in the ocean near my house, some people jump off the pier in summer though.

If the waves are too big and you don't have time to run to shore you must jump into the wave and let it carry you or dive into the wave and end up on the other side.

Sure, until the sand comes into your eyes, you can’t breathe, you are helplessly thrashing in the water asking for help and you are pushed into the sand.
When you get out, your nose, eyes, ears hurt from the sand, waves, salt water, etc.

This video actually gave me some memories on what happened a few years ago. When i was 6, my family and I were going to a beach that was far from the beaches we usually go, just because we wanted to change a little. When we got there, we saw the beautiful colors of the ocean but we also saw the big waves it had. My sister and mom were terrified but me, my dad and brother weren't. I was lowkey excited to go swim there not knowing what was about to happen next. My mom, sister and brother didn't go in, my brother didn't because it was too cold for him. Me and my dad did, and we actually had some fun at first, then i started to panic. There was this one big wave, that was coming towards me and my dad. The worst part is, my dad put me on his shoulders just in case a big wave came in. Little did we know a huge wave came. My dad put me so high not caring about him, just me. Unfortunately the wave knocked both of us down. I was crying so much underwater which that was bad for my eyes because of all the sand mixed up from all the waves. I didn't know what my dad was doing during that disaster, but i sure knew that he was willing to sacrifice himself for me. I was stuck to the ground underwater for about a minute when surprisingly my dad picked me up. I was so glad that he stood up and was okay. I was clearly young then so i didn't think about what my dad went through. I felt so much better when he picked me up, but i did have some bruises and sand everywhere. My dad on the other hand, had blood and bruises and sand everywhere on him, he was clearly in pain but he never told me or showed it to me. When we sat back down and everyone was okay, there was this one wave that was so big, that it even reached our stuff. Even my brothers phone broke. That was a moment of my life that i would never forget. From that day on, i was traumatized by big waves. As i got older i realized what my dad went through, but i never told him about it. I know that he was really sad about it, so i didn't want to remind him of that. If you read all this, thank you ❤🙏
When I was in Florida for summer break, me and my cousin were boogie boarding. There was grey clouds and it was about to storm. We were going to make the most of it before we left to go back to the condo. The current was very strong, both of us being swept farther from our mom’s. We ended up seeing a pod of dolphins out in the distance, but after that was horrifying!! About a 7/8 foot wave was towering above us. We jumped with our boogie boards beneath us, thinking we could easily make it over the wave. We didn’t. We both were drug under by the wave and at least under for about a minute. We both about drowned. We did ended up splashing above the surface and raced for the shore, our legs were stinging from us pushing our way for the surface. Our lungs hurt, we took in too much water. And our hearts were racing. We told our mom’s and left for the condo, the memory is still in my mind and watching this video just brings the memory to me.

they'll be dead, here in california we had a recent jelly fish infestation with some swells, if you were to go surfing or bodyboarding, you'd probably have to accept the rash from a jelly or two, It's not too bad though, (unless your speaking box jellies, just takes one of those fuckers to kill lmao)

Some of them are being smart though. If you are close enough to a wave and it's about to break, you better haul ass and dive into the bottom of that wave or it's going to collapse on your back and it's going to HURT LIKE HELL. Also, if you try to run away from it, the currents are dragging you back into the wave anyway.

Ive played in bigger waves with my friends.In Italy last summer, the waves could reach further than the exit of the beach and there was a lot of sand until the exit. It was really fun.

I had one of this sort of situation in my life, it was in the black sea, where unexpectedly, all of a sudden, a huge wave raised in front of me, and I was pretty far from the shore. Even though I was far enough from the shore, I couldn't swim up the wave, it has still covered my head and managed to confuse me. There were some cliffs also, that wave, if not my correct reaction, might have killed me.

Marvin Rivera yea the ocean is terrifying, once I duck dived through a wave but got caught inside of it. Long story short I was inside the wave while it crashed.
Marvin Rivera but you got to love when other people get wiped out. Once saw this dude get stuck on the lip and get thrown down while he’s laying on the board belly first. He somehow was still on the board but that was about the time a wave ate him, the wave sucked him into the barrel, and this guy had his sides towards the wave the entire time. Ouch
