Vulnerable people are ALWAYS oppressed by powerful people and groups. The only legitimate difference of opinion is which source of oppression is the most urgent danger. I was born in Africa to an Indian dad & Turkish mum my father fought for Britain in Works War 2. My parents encouraged respecting embracing & learning different cultures. They were amazing people & that’s what should be taught to all. No hate just peace love & no War why is that so hard!?

This is insane to me as a 2nd generation immigrant - being white, this has never actually been an issue for me, despite hearing people every day go on and on about foreigners and immigrants but they don’t seem to care when I say I’m 2nd gen? The real issue is that we're an inherently racist country. It's always been there and always under the surface. Whenever an opportunity has arisen for people to go and express this - whether its supporting Nick Griffin 20 years ago, the NF 40-50 years ago, ticking the Brexit box, supporting Israel today not because you understand Middle Eastern geopolitics but because you hate foreigners, or because of a tragic mass murder people want to blame on immigration, it will never, ever go away. This is an issue that runs very deep in a lot of people across this country, and no one is looking at real solutions, even if they existed.

Her parents more specifically are Portuguese, just like my mother, but the same logic applies. She was of an immigrant background.
Now, admittedly, these hate marches are aimed more specifically at Black and/or Muslim people (and, ironically, not just recent migrants, but people whose families have been based in the UK for a few generations), but the talk is still about 'migrants flooding the country', and, like my own mother, Alice Aguiar's parents are Portuguese migrants. Speaking as the child of one, I feel personally offended by all the anti-immigration hate, just as I feel personally offended that these thugs claim to 'represent the working-class'. I'm working class and proud of it. I guarantee half of these thugs don't actually work. I've been around people like this all my life and can honestly say it is all based on xenophobia and racism. The likes of Farage and the so called 'media' outlets like TalkTV and GB News continue to sow discontent. The country does have an issue with immigration but those of us in the working class want it dealt with in a dignified way that supports human rights and provides the housing and services that the level of immigration requires.

You may be correct. But respect is two way and not born of fear but of appreciation. It’s perfectly clear to me that values and decency have evaporated from a larger number of people n UK. Education in the home and beyond. All gone. Used o be based on Christian principles , but not essential, can be a decent human in Any religeon despite what they preach. I am no fan of Starmer nor of Brexit but I am prepared to use democratic methods including peaceful demonstration to express my displeasure. Most people are the same. However, the far right, incited by the likes of Farage, take violent action. They are a only small fraction of the population but they obtain publicity far beyond their numbers. Farage should be arrested fort incitement to riot. The fact that he asks questions is immaterial as the questions are loaded.
