      Hoser's Garage I've been kinda slacking on the video editing and videos in general. I have part 2 done but I need to edit the footage clips. Some people don't like the long videos so I try to edit and shorten as much as possible. This on started out as 60mins of clips, edited down to a 25 min video. Thanks for watching glad you like it.

      MR. Teddy Bear thanks. It has a deck on it now and more, but if I make the video too long, viewers might fall asleep lol. Thanks for watching part 1

    We always painted the seams,lids,caps,plus with tar.
    That hanger strap will not last,just paint that will tar too..looks good bud

      my other DIY plywood boat had seams sealed because it relies on the plywood hull for buoyancy. this one here does not rely on the wood for buoyancy, but rather the high density plastic barrels which are sealed. if you visit the Chud327 channel, he recently discussed the straps. i planned on using copper or stainless straps for corrosion free rust free attachments but the galvanized stuff was in my budget and the stainless stuff was not. Chud327 showed his galvanized straps holding up well after 2 years and also sitting on the wet ground

      @@613Builds I know we made Floating piers out of them a few times.if you leave them in the water you have to tar what I said above if not they take on water. The get hot and expand they get cold,your car tires loose air every year because of this. That screw on cap is your weak point.let snow or a few people get on it and the psi in the Barrel changes as its holding the weight. I learned to quickly hand sand then clean with alcohol then tar all the weak points.it will last alot longer..A old school logger told me this years ago and I've done it and it makes a big difference. Not knocking your work just passing on what I learned

      @@shawnp8429 yes you're right, the barrels did contract over winter.

    That strapping is called "plumbers tape "

    • @613Builds

      i recommend stainless steel strapping if you can afford 100 ft of it.

    What’s the load tolerance on this? How can we calculate it, depending on materials used? Does anyone here know?

    • @613Builds
      @613Builds  3 года назад +1

      I’ve calculated the buoyancy of the 8 barrels back when I built it, and I found the buoyancy to be several thousand pounds. It can literally hold tons (2000+lbs). The front is an open deck and is capable of ferrying dirt bikes or atvs to islands

    Trying to learn more about pontoon verses steel versus concrete barge builds for future floating home in gulfcoast areas/Key West... how does one decide?

      @613Builds  5 лет назад +1

      salt water vs steel i'm not sure. perhaps stainless steel ?

    so what if your boat would be used on salt water river or in the sea, don't you think your strips of scraps it'll soon rust and cut-off

    • @613Builds
      @613Builds  4 года назад

      John I mentioned that you can get stainless steel straps , but they are 4x the cost price. Also copper strapping is available.

      bought from a military base because they were sun-faded. was told they held water soluble drinking water treatment. apparently stuff used for water treatment.

      You should never mention "orange" and "Trump" at the same time because his loyal followers get very upset because it reminds them that their hero is a small, little narcissist who is so vain he has to spray tan himself orange to make himself feel healthy and manly. However it's just fine if Trump makes fun of a former FBI agent on stage by pretending to be her having an orgasm or gets down on his knees to make fun of Bloomberg for being short. Because that's just funny. Just saying.....
