AWESOME. I am happy that they came out with a new Swell Pro that resolves some issues that I have with my old SPRY and my old SPLASHDRONE Fisherman. I do SAR in western Washington, where it is important to have drones that can be flown in rain, and also look under the surface of lakes and bays. Note that the camera can only see as far underwater as a human eye can. I am happy with the video quality of the cameras. One thing that the SPRY helps with is getting oil sheen samples (downed aircraft). I use the Fisherman to carry (> 2.5 lbs) radios, 1st aid kit, food/water bottles to a victim that may be trapped in a ravine etc. However, the early models had drawbacks. First was the batteries: they are hard to install and the one in the remote can not be replaced by the user when they exceed their useful life. This new drone also evokes the same controller battery concern. The first payload release I had leaked and got corroded, the replacement is fine. I can still use the first one's camera, but not it's release gear. One day I was demonstrating my Fisherman drone to a high school group, and from 20 meters up the line got tangled in a prop and drove straight into the pavement. The soft rubber like shell never scratched. All I had to do was replace propellers and the landing gear. I have a fleet of SAR drones (Autel's, Parrot, DJI's, Swellpro's, and Yuneec Typhoon w/IR). I did have a Skydio and I hated it. Thanks for showing us the new Swell Pro; I am teaching a SAR UAV class this weekend and I am going to mention your video. Side note: besides my USA FAA Remote Pilot license I also have one for Canada, because I have been on SAR missions to BC. Canada is truely a beautiful place. Keep up the great reviews. KM
I was and am in the same boat as you are. I live in the Mill creek area and love to fly drones and as you know its rains quite a bit here. I was afraid to buy there previous versions of swell pro drones with how buggy and unstable they were. If the Captain gives the thumbs up that is good enough for me.
I am so sad that this beautiful device is completely illegal in Europe and Germany in particular. By way of background, dropping devices or transport devices are prohibited in Germany. This is the moment when I would like to live in Canada. Great video.

South Africa is not very strict on drone laws, in fact you can fly a drone up to 7kg without a license as long as it is not for commercial purposes and you abide by the rules. However, all fishing drones are now illegal. The reason is because of an environmental concern. Fishing lines often get broken when out to sea and when that happens you now have miles of fishing line floating out at sea that can get caught up in other fish, turtles, dolphins etc.
That looks amazing, makes me want to take up fishing again. I thought I heard before that it's illegal to drop items from an aircraft? It probably depends on where you live and what you're doing.Great video Steve!
Have not heard of such rules in my area. Amazon plans to continue dropping items from drones as well as many other services (search & rescue, medical, etc).
In Canada the rule is: 602.23 No person shall create a hazard to persons or property on the surface by dropping an object from an aircraft in flight. As long as you don't drop things near people or damage property you should be fine.
Ive been fishing since I was a kid and when we want the bait out we normally do this crazy thing called casting our lines, and you can do it with the same rod and reel that you fish with.. imagine that lol
Yup if you fish in rivers/lakes, the simple casting with a small size reel/rod works. But…I guess you need to try it with the BIG BOYS that cast in the ocean. If you try to cast your way you’d be lucky to get past the beach.
Hey bud. Great Video. I don't know what's going on. but haven't been seeing a lot of your videos showing up in my new video listing. Kinda sad. But then I have to go back and watch multiple videos after lol
