Netflix really missed up the ending of this series! It reminds me of GOT as one of the worst endings that I have seen!!!! They had to many storylines that they tried to put into one season! Just a really bad job by the producers of this series!!

The Byrds were exactly what Jonah explained in the first season about the invasive starling birds. They move in and destroy everything. They literally destroyed 2 whole family lines. Well.. with the exception of 3. They took out the Snell's and the Langmore's.
Nonsense, there were a lot of other people that bore responsibility for the downfall of those families. The Byrds actually had almost no fault in what happened to the Snells.
Jonah 100% killed Mel. The whole scene is a call back to when he had the gun pointed at Garcia and wendy gave him the nod of approval to shoot him but he wasn’t ready. This time around wendy and Marty give him the go ahead and he doesn’t hesitate showing his change in character he finally choses and we see him “break bad” like the rest of his family. One of the main themes of the show is that the Apple doesn’t fall from the tree. Ruth was never going to win because she was a cursed Langmore. The Navarro’s will never find peace and will die violently. The byrds of the world will always win. The show gave us a modern origin story to a new American dynasty. The Rockefellers, the vanderbilts, the Kennedys and all other American dynasties empires where built on the bones of their enemies.
My problem isn’t the what but the how. Someone as clever as Ruth doesn’t have a piece on her at all times? Way out of character. At least lure her into some kind of trap where where is no way she would have suspected anything
@@VannywiththeFanny you cmon. You mean to tell me she didn’t have a cute little purse where she could have slipped a small piece in? Think outside the box
@@VannywiththeFanny dude you still don’t get the big picture I KNOW Ruth doesn’t wear purses. But because she’s a woman, no one would think twice about her carrying one, even if she by default doesn’t carry one. Of course she’s not going to carry a piece in that dress. It’s partially due to the one and only piece of bad writing in the show. You have a group of people that work for the cartel, and not one of them thinks it’s a good idea to carry a piece with them.
An interesting point was that when Marty and Wendy were confronted with the reality at the party that Ruth was gonna be killed, it was Wendy that was more frantic and grasping for ideas to stop it, and Marty who just dispassionately said there was nothing they could do about it. After years of the closeness between Marty and Ruth, and dislike between Wendy and Ruth, to see it flip in that final moment was really something.
Liked that too. Wendy probably felt she owed her for getting her her kids back. That meant a lot to Wendy. Marty just seemed resigned. He was clearly upset, but knew for once he had no plan. Nice contrast with earlier in the season where Wendy is mad as she sees him as choosing Ruth over his family.
@@vickster5001he knew he cared for ruth and saw her as a daughter, but he knew already when she shot javi that she was dead and it was a matter of time. Can’t beat the Cartel. He remained calm and collected cause he already made his peace… tragic man, ruth could’ve left w/ three with all the money but didn’t…
@@miekgg Of course he didn't know Ruth would die before hand. The only reason is what happened in that conversation at the party. If it wasn't for that split second decision to spill the beans Ruth was in the total absolute clear.
@@linsqopiring6816 marty is the smartest man in the show. He knows sooner or later that the truth will spill out, like i said, only a matter of time- can’t kill a cartel boss and expect to get away with it. Marty already accepted it.
Jonah's bird speech in season 1 was the moral of the story. New species comes in and all the local birds die out. In this case it was The Byrds taking over and Langmores and Snells and the priest family die out.
I didn't feel it was rushed. To me pretty much everything was cohesive and made sense. They couldn't have gone any further without dragging it on for no reason. Ruth dug her grave the second she pulled the trigger on Javi and it was obvious she wasn't going to survive the season. The Byrds succeeded their mission and got rid of all their enemies (Wendy's dad, and the PI), and they gave a logical way for them to survive and continue their business with the cartel. I was satisfied with the ending, but it's always bittersweet when a show you love comes to an end. What a show it was!
@@VannywiththeFanny Lol what? how could I be hyped when the previous episodes were such a mess, believe me my expectations were low and the ending still disappointed me, if you liked it good for you, I didn't.
The money laundering is self sustaining and the only loose end was Mel, so it's a perfectly fine ending. Ruth dug her own grave. My heart goes out to 3, the ONLY surviving Langmore.
This is pretty much exactly how I feel about it. I do have one major problem with it however, the whole car crash cold open in s4e1 was just a complete bait which essentially had no storytelling purpose other than shock value. When it finally occurred in this episode, I was honestly kinda disappointed? Like I expected it to be a pretty major turning point. Idk.
@@conordoeseverything Totally agree with you. I actually think the car crash scene could have worked well if they hadn't shown us it in episode 1. For one, it took the suspense out of A LOT of the scenes with Marty and Wendy because we knew they survived until at least that scene. The payoff also wasn't worth it to build it up all season. I get that the purpose of it was to make the Byrde family realize they love each other and don't want to lose each other, but that's pretty contrived in my opinion. There were actually a lot of contrived storylines this season. It felt like most of it was just "that's the way the writers wanted it" rather than the story growing and developing naturally
@@conordoeseverything Agree. I was like, so a slow, weighted down, big rig Semi, is attempting to pass a car on a two lane highway, busy with traffic? Sigh. SMH. They tried to tie it back together when Wendy was speaking to the Padre when he cited a divine warning and she cited divine providence.
@@conordoeseverything I honestly thought that this was another Wendy's dream /gave me the vibe like the ones she had of killing Marty/ and when it happened I was like 'oh shit, this is really happening!'.
From the moment Ruth killed Javi, I knew she was dead. Especially with her seeing her ghosts and getting a clean slate, each nice thing happening for her character was a nail in the coffin. Could see it coming a mile away.
The Byrds have achieved the [Dark] American Dream. Go back & listen to the opening speech of the very first episode. Marty & Wendy have “made it”...with blood on their hands. If the Byrds go deeper into politics, we’d be getting into “House of Cards” territory.
Maybe unpopular opinion thought the Finale and the series ending was great. Ruth was not getting away with what happened to Javi. Final scene with Mel was great
Totally agree, and I think the last question by Wendy “ since when? “ is the best line that a series could end with it reflects reality. Just phenomenal series
When I saw the van crash and they were getting out I remember in the 1st episode of the season Marty was telling Dell “that’s a top rated minivan”. Funny how I guess it helped keep them alive. Maybe it was a call back to that back and forth exchange with Dell
Man, the women on this show were so vicious. From Wendy to Ruth, to Darlene. Heck, we had Carmelia for one season and managed to the fear in God in you as a viewer in a short time span. It really goes to the fantastic writing in this series
"Man, the women on this show were so vicious. From Wendy to Ruth, to Darlene. It really goes to the fantastic writing in this series" The really good thing about it is they didn't go about it in the usual bad writing way of every strong woman being tough because of fighting skills. In other shows 90 pound women can always beat up 250 pound strong men, it just makes me roll my eyes and takes me out of the plot. In this one the women weren't weak , they were incredibly strong but in a realistic way. Great writing.
"That's exactly how the world works" is I guess the moral of the story. The worst people make it out alive while they leave piles of bodies in their wake. Super depressing, but real.
@@TemporaryJ He lost his bro because his bro was a moron who worked for and did gross things with a crazy witch who openly defied the mexican drug cartel in the most reckless way. When you stick around someone like that you are absolutely just asking for your own death. 10000000000000% his own fault and not the Byrd's at all.
Camilla knew Marty and Wendy were very good liars under pressure…so she went for the weakest person at the table to get the answers. Claire doesn’t quite have the same silver tongue as the Byrdes.
Agreed. Everything is there for closure. It's a brilliantly scripted ending. So here's my take (and geniuinely I don't think it's debatable): So what I love about the ending is that Byrdes' fairytale dream comes true... with a price. First, the show is clearly arguing through the finale that evil, corrupt, wealthy people usually win, and the poor ultimately lose...which is sadly the truth. It's an honest ending. A true projection of a running theme throughout the entire show. Second, the moment Ruth killed Javi in the first episode of the season, Marty told her that she would die because of it. And he was right. It would inevitably come out no matter how hard they tried to keep something like that a secret. It sealed her fate. Ruth made a critical mistake based on her emotions. And she was so close to her dream, thus it makes it even more tragic to see her die. Plus, we fans love her, so that was an emotional gut-punch. At least she went out in a typical G Ruth way! Third, and most importantly, when the P.I. returns at the end and you think he finally has them busted, he says, "You don’t get it, do you? You don’t get to win… The world doesn’t work like that”...But then seconds later he gets killed because: the world does work like that!!!! As stated before, ruthless, corrupt, evil people usually do win. I can't see why people don't see this clearly. It's right there in the dialogue. Finally, Jonah, who was one of the few characters on this show who we thought maybe had some sense of morality left, murders an innocent man for his family. And Ilove how the final shot is his parents looking at him with pride knowing what he's about to do as the screen fades (especially Wendy, she grins). Her look at Mel was a clear giveaway that they were going to win. They are getting out of the Ozarks clean and on top. Then, we are left knowing that they go back to Chicago, live a rich, politically connected life. They probably sit around the dinner table for years to come, talking about those crazy 4 years they spent in the Ozarks. Also, the scene with Killer Mike seems simple yet is so important to the overall theme of this entire narrative: He tells Ruth, “You know, when I listen to that record, there’s projects in Queens where you can kind of see Manhattan. I always thought it was so hopeful and fucking cruel at the same time”....That has been Ruth's perspective the whole show. She can see the promised land, but for someone like her from the "projects" of the Ozarks, it is just a cruel trick, a facade. She was never destined to get out. She was a product of her environment, and she had to die there. It's a sad commentary on our reality. But it's honest. We want her to win, but how often do people from her circumstances/environment truly win? Not often. Meanwhile, we want the Byrdes to get their comeuppance, but they don't because of who they are. They belong in "Manhattan" (Chicago), where Ruth is meant to die in "Queens" (Ozarks). It's a magnetic ending, and like the Sopranos and Lost and every other knee-jerk fan reaction to series finales, it will be celebrated for its genius in years to come.
@@CoryGasaway There are definitely things to like about the ending, but there are also an enormous amount of flaws. You cannot convince me that Marty would be PROUD and SMILING as he watches his son murder a detective in cold blood. There has been nothing in the series to suggest that Marty would be remotely okay with this. Jonah spent literally this whole entire season talking about how he was done with all of the violence and killing and how evil Marty and Wendy were and now all of a sudden he's cool with murdering a police officer? Mel Sattem added almost nothing to the story. It feels like they just needed an excuse to get Wendy's father into the story so they created Mel, and the storyline with her father wasn't even good. It was so contrived that I was actually sick of it by the end. I expected Ruth to die after she killed Javi, but what the hell was with that hokey slow motion CGI bullet and blood?? That felt so weird for this show. The last really good episode in my opinion was episode 8 when they killed Javi. I loved everything about that episode. To me, it feels like the writers knew 2 things for sure: they knew how they wanted Javi's story to go, and they knew what they wanted to be in their finale, but they struggled figuring out how to fill the gaps between those 2 events. I think they should have done one of these things: either make the Javi storyline its own 10 episode season and then do another 10 episode season to better flesh out Camilla as a villain and actually do something with Mel and Maya's investigation into the Byrde's, OR they should have cut out a lot of the fluff in this season and just finished the story in episodes 9 and 10 after Javi's death and not brought Camilla. As it stands now it almost feels like they had plans for 2 seasons but ended up having to combine them into 1 longer season. I really don't think an argument can be made that season 4, particularly part 2, was higher quality than season 3. The writing of season 3 was just leagues better than anything we got in season 4. Also, I strongly disagree with the decision to show us the car accident in episode 1. WTF were they thinking? That was another extremely contrived plot point. I get it, them surviving the car accident together makes them realize how much they love each other and don't want to lose each other yadda yadda yadda. Doesn't make it any less contrived and a cop out by the writers to get the Byrde's over their family drama. A lot of the things that happened in this season were "because thats how the writers wanted it to be" and not organic plotlines that naturally develop as the story grows.
For me, the finale was great. Not perfect, but great. Some fairly lengthy thoughts below: 1. Ruth is responsible for her dying, not only by killing Javi, but by being dismissive of the cartel, Marty and Wendy, all of it. She got big for her britches wanting to start fresh with her record being expunged. I know she was sick and tired of it all, after Wyatt was murdered, but once you're in, you're only out when the cartel says you're out. The cartel doesn't need Ruth to run the money laundering scheme through the Belle, the FBI can do that. The memories of Wyatt and her family was foreshadowing. 2. The Byrdes living through the accident brought the family together; Wendy's talk with her kids in the clinic brought them close, the accident completed it. Once I saw they lived through it, I knew they would come out of this unscathed. Which leads to... 3. Jonah. He obviously shot Mel, and the show has been foreshadowing Jonah doing something like this since season 1. Him pulling the trigger on the empty rifle on Navarro's man, getting his first kill with the Snells while hunting, him getting deep into illegal activities himself, and finally the accident, and Wendy's heartfelt speech, brought him in 100%. No more doubts, no more anger. All in. I love the little smiles of encouragement from Marty and Wendy to Jonah as it faded to black. All in all, a top 5 show of all time for me. I keep arguing with myself on where it fits with Black Sails, Better Call Saul, and Lost, but easily top 4 or 5. The finale was a little rushed, but I fully believe the hardest thing a popular show can do is end well; so many shows have ended controversially, this one included. But to me, it all made sense. Solid 9/10 for the show, 8/5 for the finale.
@@travisjulian878 stop. at most I believe Jonah could have shot the cookie jar but that’s it. stop the dumb ass theories just because you don’t like the ending.
I worked on episode 13 & 14 of this season and lemme tell you… when I read the script for the finale, I could not BELIEVE it ended this way. But I’m glad it did because it wouldn’t be Ozark if it ended happily with them riding off into the sunset (back to Chicago). Gonna miss your guys’ reactions to this amazing show!!! Ps: look for me in the credits under Set Dec Coordinator 😎
Wendy , Ruth, Marty and Navarro all deserve awards cause man that shit was tough 🔥🔥….you guys think there’s a similar situation going on right now in real life 🤣 mirroring this whole show
@Christian Johnah using a gun didn't come out of the blue, he had a big history with it throughout the show. Didn't you even see the show? He even tried to kill someone before but the gun wasn't loaded.
I saw someone else post this elsewhere so I can't take credit, but in Season 1 Jonah is watching a documentary about an invasive species of bird (Byrde) that is wiping out the native population (Snells and Langmores). Snells are all gone, and only Three is left of the Langmores.
I want you to thank you Nikki and Steven it was a nice journey with you. Because of you I started watching Ozark and it was so good if not you I would never know it. So thank you very much.
I didn't like it at first either so, I went back and watched the whole series again in its entirety without having all the time between episodes and seasons. This way everything that happened and all the character's arcs were completely fresh in my mind when I watched the finale the 2nd time. It really made it that much more enjoyable and made the last scene make more sense. Watching it all together with everything still fresh in my mind made me realize how brilliant the ending really was. It's basically a commentary on how real life is with the rich and powerful(The Byrds) always coming out on top at the expense of the poor/middle class(Ruth). Someone else had also mentioned in the comments something that really made sense also that I didn't put together until I read it. Jonah was really into the issues with those birds that would destroy entire eco systems when they showed up in different areas and it's basically the same with his family(named "the Byrds"). When they showed up in the Ozarks they basically were responsible for destroying everyone and everything that they came across. Their arrival there contributed to the deaths of the locals including the sheriff, the preacher and his wife, the Snells, and all the Langmores. Marty says it after Javi's death that Ruth's whole family is dead because she met Marty and his family.
Your faces in the final shot 😂😂. This show totally deserves a spin-off or more seasons. Showing their kids, the development of business, the implications of Jonah finally killing someone... Three avanging Ruth maybe... So much more things I wanted to see!
You guys are fantastic, I love All your reactions. Ozark has been an incredible series with so many twists and turns and "edge of your seat" moments, its hard to comprehend sometimes. Just an outstanding show. The acting, across the board, was stellar, but Laura Linney, Julia Garner and Jason Bateman deserve the highest accolades possible, they created such memorable characters that kept us coming back for more. One observation I thought of during the scene with Wendy on the steps in front of her father a couple episodes back, I thought she was acting that way to try and draw out his true colors and make him so mad that he would hit her in front of the kids so they would see what a bad man he is. I think Ruth did the same thing with bottle of booze scene, but he never crossed the line. Finally, I hope you will watch the Netflix recap; “A Farewell to Ozark” it’s very interesting. Was surprised to find out that Robin Wright directed the last two episodes of S4 part 1. Also, that the climax of the minivan rollover scene was the actual last scene shot of the series. Again, thanks for your awesome reactions and thoughtful analysis. Cheers!
I loved the ending the more I thought about. I too felt a little bad for Navarro. He was scary but I kind of liked of him. Was definitely sad to see Ruth die, loved her. I was actually happy to see the Birds just get away with everything. It subverts the expectations of these kinds of shows that usually have the bad guy protagonists get their comeuppance at the end.
After I watched this during the shutdown, I absolutely loved it Friends told me to watch Queen of the South next. I did and that show has the best finale of any show I've binged..
Even though I didn’t want Ruth to die I didn’t want Wendy to die even more. Ruth dying made sense, especially since they foreshadowed it since season one with the Langmore curse. Wendy Byrde is one of the most complex, intense characters ever watched. They were all great!!
Loved, loved ya'lls reaction! Steven, I thought the same as you when Navarro was killed. I thought I was weird feeling bad for him! Love you guys and the content you share with us ❤️
The scene with Ruth reminiscing the past ontop of the trailer with Wyatt makes me tear up..of course with her dying is so sad, she deserves happiness more than Wendy and Marty do..i love Marty but Ruth deserves better.
I think Ruth wanted to die as a Langmore , she had so many chances to take the money and take Three and get out but she kept choosing to stay , so she deserves what she got in a way
My take is that they transformed from working for the Cartel to becoming their own Cartel....see the look Wendy and Marty gave to Mel right before Jonah pulled the trigger......
I like the direction it went. I'm not really into fairy tales and happy go lucky endings. I much prefer the realistic approach - that the Byrdes will come out on top yet again, and continue on in their endless cycle of lies and schemes and corruption - as if nothing happened. That glint in Jonah's eyes just before he pulled the trigger was haunting, and there's no doubt in my mind that he shot Sattem dead where he stood - then helped his parents disappear the body.
@@EntrEsprit A few reasons that I can think of. 1) Jonah's whole fight with his parents was actually very textbook teenager riot - just with some added spice, as his parents are who they are, and their life is as it is. It's not like he turned them in to the authorities - he tried getting back at them by laundering money for another criminal enterprise... yeah. 2) Grandad's motives became clear. The person the kids had turned to, to get them out of the life and away from their parents, turned out to be worse than their mother. That will seriously mess up any kid's compass. They had to turn back. 3) Then there was Wendy coming clean about what happened between her and Ben - I think this was all Jonah really wanted - that she told the truth. She did, and he was now slowly starting down the path of forgiving his mother. 4) The car crash. They all came out of it relatively unscathed, but for a brief moment they thought they lost Wendy. Despite everything, they love their mother, and the whole ordeal with the crash, and seeing her like that would be more than enough to bring Jonah back on the team, fully. That's why he didn't hesitate.
The first time I watched the finale I was ambivalent, but rewatching I LOVED IT on a number of levels. Unfortunately Ruth's death was inevitable as the season has been hinting all along, but hated to see it and it still felt awful, as it's meant to. The finale is WILD both on a storytelling and emotional level. Whoa!
Looks like I'm in the minority, but i loved the ending. What are the Byrdes willing to live with? Turns out. ALL OF IT! And the son was a Byrde after all. Wendy's son.
I legit just finished watching this show earlier today. And my reactions where the same lol. I've always been a fan of Laura Linney and Jason Bateman. They were stellar in this show. Sooo bummed about Ruth but the writing was on the wall. And Jonah finally accepting the family business was baller! I love how Marty and Wendy were so confident in Jonah shooting Mel. So dang good! Sad to see it end.
people gotta stop expecting happy endings for everything...Hate to say it, but sometimes an unsatisfying ending is the right thing to do for certain stories. Im glad they didn't cop out and have Marty show up and shoot Camilla or some BS like that. if you watched the entire show you should've seen this coming. "the Langmore curse" was coined for a reason we all should've seen it coming. The bad guys won... and every supporting character in this show had their lives ruined because they met the Byrdes. Wendy's last line sums up the entire show in two words lol its pretty genius if you ask me.
@@EntrEsprit they could do a prequel with how the Snell got there power or a sequel primarily about Charlotte and Jonah, or one with Russ, Cade & Boyd as kids.
You should check out the Behind the Scenes saying goodbye to Ozark special too. Bateman said he did this to step away from being looked at for just comedy. Wendy was a crazy character. Laura Linney was a masterclass of acting. Good stuff guys. Been a heck of a ride.
I liked the scene in prison when Omar is setting the hit on Camilla. The way he says “She’s my sister and I love her very much.” and looks at Wendy and she is looking back. I half expected her to say “What do you expect from me, Omar? Do you want me to throw my arms around you, hold you close to my heart? Like your blood is my blood? You’re doing what is required. Don’t act like I should be grateful.”
Notice they're all wearing the same clothes from the first season episode two I believe. Marty, Wendy and Ruth. No one survived the Byrdes coming to the Ozarks except Three. All of the Langmores, the Snells, the KC mob, Sheriff Nix, the Youngs, Helen and Navarro's people (Del included) , Marty outsmarted them all. He never went half cocked and made emotional decisions. I would hope Three would have went to live with the Byrdes. He is indirectly responsible for him being an orphan.
the fact it's the type of finale that needs processing & such means they did a good job.. it was heartbreaking, exhilarating, scary, & unpredictable. as a finale SHOULD be. PHENOMENAL show from start to finish. In love with what everyone involved managed to pull off, glad to watch it with you guys!!
I think people were expecting a big blockbuster finale, but Ozark was never that. It was that family climbing a ladder from victims to being everything they were once scared of. Everyone in this show was a piece of shit.. Big Pharma/Politicians/Corrupt Cops/Drug farmers/Cartels and the Byrds came out of top because they were the same, and destroyed the lives of so many people in that town. This was really the only way to end it, having Ruth live and Camela die would just keep the wheels turning. Only thing I disliked was the opening scene with the car crash, it didn't need to be at the start at all. Would of been better as a surprise.
The cycle of devil works do exist. People with power, they're dirty after all. Sometimes good characters like Ruth or Wyatt become the victims whenever they get in the way. How can you not hate these stereotypes? It doesn't matter that some good characters in this show are dead, what matters for them is what they wanna be and what they wanna do before they die, die as a good one or live as a villain. And i think this is what the show is about. The Byrdes always win because they're always maneuvering, but still, they're also dirty. And Jonah shooting Mel, there's a lot to talk about this. What a twist! :)
It definitely seemed like a rush to the finish line in the last one, I still enjoyed and LOVED it. Personally, I felt like one of the Byrdes would go down, Wendy or Charlotte would've been crazy. Wendy because she's been on this power craze or Charlotte because it would be taking away the innocence of the family leaving the Byrdes broken after all this. They still won't be okay with the current ending but this would've been the reckoning that has been waiting for this family.
@@YourDadYoda ehh if anything they could have wrapped it up in a 10 episode 4 season. a lot of late game plot threads like Camilla/Ruth killing Javi that didn’t need to be introduced.
It was a good ending. But I do have a couple of bones to pick. The whole car crash was a complete gimmick that wasnt needed. The car crash had zero impact on the story other than to keep the audience guessing. But the drama up to that point was perfectly fine without the car crash. Its readily apparent it was a complete gimmick because even though they were wearing seatbelts, at least two of them were lying on the roof when the car settled, meaning they were thrown about the cabin when the car rolled at least 4 times. Yet they all walked away without a scratch. The crash was a cheap trick and wasnt needed. My second bone to pick was Ruth’s total disregard for the danger of sticking it to the cartel. It wasn’t that long ago she got waterboarded by the cartel’s lawyer and was scared sh**less. Its true, killing Javi probably emboldened her to see what else she could get away with but after all she has witnessed and been through, you would think she would have gained some perpective.
Another fantastic series that comes to an end..., thinking about future series for you to react to.... ,I would like you to see a super underrated and little known series, like Black Sails, the name of the series is "Hell on wheels", for me it is the best western series of all time, no one ever reacts on RUclips, I wish it was you guys to see it for the first time. 🙏🏼
That talk Wendy had with her kids at the Psych center is what changed Jonah’s feelings about his mother. That’s why he shot him at the end. Even if Jonah hadn’t had done it he still couldn’t prove what happened to her bro. The bodyguard was dead under what was going to be Ruth’s house.
Hard to remember now, but Ruth was the one saying they should just kill Marty at the start after she stole his money. Also, Jonah did exactly what Buddy did at the end. It was a full circle moment.
This reminded me a lot of Breaking Bad where there isn’t meant to be a ‘good guy’, sin he almost all the characters are morally gray. Ruth dying at the end was tragic, because I think she was smart and had the most potential to make her life something positive. She wasn’t an innocent, and she had to face the consequences. Most chilling is how the Byrdes, kids included, completely turned themselves over to the life at the end. Wendy is not redeemable as we saw her character devolve through the 4 seasons into something truly deplorable. Awesome show, great characters, and I have no idea why some people didn’t find the ending satisfying.
This Finale is wild I loved it OMG I love open endings but I am sad on the other side because it gives us so much opportunity how the show could go on but there will be no more Ozark
The best part to me is that its not the end, they didnt get out of anything, they still have to work with the FBi and the cartel, now they have to deal with Ruth's death and a new batch of problems. This is the ending in the sense that this is where they decided to stop telling the story but not because every single detail got solved. And that is how the world works
My biggest issue with the ending is Ruth didn't seem to have any self preservation at all outside of her decision to help Wendy get the kids to stay. She just stood there as Carmella hesitated. Didn't get the sense she was looking to die. The whole final season it seems like she was told "Do this or you die" and she didn't listen. Her reasoning didn't make sense to me.

Wow, I didn't even put that together until you said this. Good call👍
And the priest and his family. Well I suppose the baby will live but in another family. So that’s 3 families they destroyed.
Don't forget they almost destroyed the Navarro's too. They got a brother and sister who loved each other to murder each other.
Loved this comment
Nope. He shot Wendy.

Hated to see Ruth go down, but it was unavoidable. At least she went out like a gangster. One of the best show runs I've ever seen.
My problem isn’t the what but the how.
Someone as clever as Ruth doesn’t have a piece on her at all times? Way out of character.
At least lure her into some kind of trap where where is no way she would have suspected anything
@@sylvester3018 Yes. She had a piece tucked in that silky white dress lmao 😅. C'mon guy.
@@VannywiththeFanny you cmon. You mean to tell me she didn’t have a cute little purse where she could have slipped a small piece in?

@@sylvester3018 Bruh. When has Ruth ever wore a purse?
Edit: she steals purses, she doesn't wear them.
@@VannywiththeFanny dude you still don’t get the big picture
I KNOW Ruth doesn’t wear purses.

Definitely felt a bit rushed but still one of the most suspenseful shows I’ve ever seen
Rushed, nonsensical and underwhelming, but you're right, for most of the show the suspense was brilliant
@@fafolaw Not true at all. You just got issues with getting WAY to hyped for things then become disappointed when it's not Infinity War lmao
@@VannywiththeFanny Lol what? how could I be hyped when the previous episodes were such a mess, believe me my expectations were low and the ending still disappointed me, if you liked it good for you, I didn't.
@@fafolaw Cool.
Marty totally nodded in approval for Jonah to shoot Mel. Savage.
@@dante2037 Spot on, you're absolutely right.
I'm truly amazed you guys avoided spoilers of Ruth's death for this long. Props.
The series ended Ruth-less. Perfect description of everyone but Ruth.
Ruth's end was SO tragic, but almost everything Ruth did after killing Havi marked her a dead woman.
The car crash that Wendy lost her baby in destroyed their family. The car crash where they all emerged unharmed is what reassembled their family.
It really goes to the fantastic writing in this series"
The really good thing about it is they didn't go about it in the usual bad writing way of every strong woman being tough because of fighting skills. In other shows 90 pound women can always beat up 250 pound strong men, it just makes me roll my eyes and takes me out of the plot. In this one the women weren't weak , they were incredibly strong but in a realistic way. Great writing.
Don't forget about hellen
"That's exactly how the world works" is I guess the moral of the story. The worst people make it out alive while they leave piles of bodies in their wake. Super depressing, but real.

Camilla knew Marty and Wendy were very good liars under pressure…so she went for the weakest person at the table to get the answers. Claire doesn’t quite have the same silver tongue as the Byrdes.
Absolutely loved this ending. Marty and Wendy both smiling as Jonah took the shot haha😆 sucks about Ruth though
"LOVED" the ending??? what drugs r u on?? and pls let me get some, they must b strong.
Agreed. Everything is there for closure. It's a brilliantly scripted ending. So here's my take (and geniuinely I don't think it's debatable):
So what I love about the ending is that Byrdes' fairytale dream comes true... with a price.
Also, the scene with Killer Mike seems simple yet is so important to the overall theme of this entire narrative:
He tells Ruth, “You know, when I listen to that record, there’s projects in Queens where you can kind of see Manhattan.
@@CoryGasaway omg bro, u typed ALL THAT, just to prove u dont know what tf ur talking about...jeez.
The ending was terrible! Look up GOT!
For me, the finale was great. Not perfect, but great. Some fairly lengthy thoughts below:

It took a day or so to digest the finale. I wasn’t sure if I liked it at first, but I am definitely satisfied with it now.
Cheers!

I like the direction it went. I'm not really into fairy tales and happy go lucky endings. I much prefer the realistic approach - that the Byrdes will come out on top yet again, and continue on in their endless cycle of lies and schemes and corruption - as if nothing happened. That glint in Jonah's eyes just before he pulled the trigger was haunting, and there's no doubt in my mind that he shot Sattem dead where he stood - then helped his parents disappear the body.
why then Jonah was "i'm tired of violence and this life" for the most part of the season, just to kill a guy with a smirk on his face
@@EntrEsprit Because he is gay
A complete 180 on everything Jonah has been saying this season.
Yeah, the Byrds are immortal beings, so realistic
Can’t wait for the Ozark “Mike Fleming”spinoff!

I'm with you here, I feel like that was a really fitting ending. That final shot pretty much seals Jonah back into the fold.
I legit just finished watching this show earlier today. And my reactions where the same lol.
I've always been a fan of Laura Linney and Jason Bateman. They were stellar in this show. Sooo bummed about Ruth but the writing was on the wall. Camilla was the best and scariest villain on ozark hands down
people gotta stop expecting happy endings for everything...Hate to say it, but sometimes an unsatisfying ending is the right thing to do for certain stories.

Your reaction and look at the end Priceless
I liked the scene in prison when Omar is setting the hit on Camilla. The way he says “She’s my sister and I love her very much.” and looks at Wendy and she is looking back.
I half expected her to say “What do you expect from me, Omar? Do you want me to throw my arms around you, hold you close to my heart? Like your blood is my blood? You’re doing what is required. Don’t act like I should be grateful.”
That was an amazing ending
Notice they're all wearing the same clothes from the first season episode two I believe. Marty, Wendy and Ruth. No one survived the Byrdes coming to the Ozarks except Three. All of the Langmores, the Snells, the KC mob, Sheriff Nix, the Youngs, Helen and Navarro's people (Del included) , Marty outsmarted them all. He never went half cocked and made emotional decisions. I would hope Three would have went to live with the Byrdes. He is indirectly responsible for him being an orphan.

Jessie was the only reason I watched Breaking Bad all the way through. Ruth was the only reason I watched this show.
The fact that the final part of this show came out the same week than better call saul 6x3 crushed me
Dude, Marty couldnt hide Claire at thevlast minute. Javi was telling his mom everything that was going on!
That family ending was everything
I know people have probably have mentioned other shows to try out after this so I'll throw one out there unless you've seen it already, Netflix "Dark"
It was a Perfect Ending..!!!🔥
Jonah did shoot Mel per the show runner in a Vanity Fair interview. And it was filmed to make us question that.
Ozark was utterly flawless, top to bottom. Period, the end.
I loved the ending. You know who gets to the top? Not a sucker like me, with my childish beliefs in fairness and goodness. Brilliant.
I was so sad for Ruth. She is definatly my favorite.
I had the same reaction at the end... "What? What! WHAT!"
What I got from the ending was that they will never escape this world.
I was left unsatisfied with the ending
Same
It felt like they wanted another season but had to cut it short because of Netflix cancelling it
@@YourDadYoda netflix always cancelling and removing the good ones ugh
Just a horrible ending. Fucking trash. Ruined the show.
Finally someone! I love hell on wheels so much!
Best reaction channel for movies and series on the Internet.
It was a perfect ending
And then they even pull a Sopranos' ending on us!
Hey do you guys know, that the symbols in the O at the start, it spells the name of the show. Ozark.
This show was just consistently good. It never got better from season 1. Just a consistent dose of good. I’m not disappointed but I expected more
I agree I expected more in the finale/final season. What do you mean the show didn’t progressively get better? Season three was the peak of the show.
I totally forgot they went with the Sopranos type ending
