    1. Amazing how the most trivial of differences in nibs is easily visible in the writing.
    2. I was a little disappointed in my Kaweco BB, which doesn't look ANY broader than my B. However it is wetter and thus preferable to me.

      1. I agree. That's why I've not attempted to make the Liliput EF nib any wetter (and now that I have a couple wet writing EF nibs, it's not necessary). 😀
      2. I had heard that the Kaweco BB nibs were a little stubby, but mine isn't. I'm considering making mine that way though. 🤔

    Great comparison video on these nibs. I may need to add a Kaweco AL Sport to the collection. Great to see you back.

    This was interesting and helpful. However, I always wonder if it is fair to make generalizations based on only one sample of each pen or each nib.. I've heard there can be some variation in Kaweco nibs from pen to pen. I only have four Kawecos but have experienced a bit of that myself. I do wonder if your EF writing a broader and wetter line than your fine nib is typical, for example. I have one medium Kaweco nib that seems quite wet, and another that is a bit drier. The BB nib is my favorite among the pens I have. I'm thinking about adding one more and was considering a fine steel nib, but the results you're getting with yours have me hesitating.

      Thanks Marilyn! I think you're right. Judging from what people are saying in the comments and my own experience, Kaweco nibs that write the wrong size do happen, but it's more common for them to write the correct size.

    Yay! So helpful. I just ordered the new Sport in Iridescent Pearl, finally found a seller that has them in stock, though the fine and EF are sold out. I think a medium will be great for me.

    Interesting thing, I have two "Fine" nibs from Kaweco (one I purchased with my Kaweco Brass Sport pen and another purchased separately as a replacement), and they both writes like an "Extra Fine" nibs on your example! How huge inconsistence to a model declaration.

      Today received two more Kaweco Fine nibs, but Premium Gold Plated - they are writing pleasantly better than my old two steel nibs, after some slight tuning, they don't scratch a paper at all. They have a smooth writing under wide range of writing angles and just good. I can't tell anything bad about them. They just good for writing. The only thing, I found that I prefer more wet and bold writing, so I'll try to buy one more premium gold plated Medium nib - I think, it would the best for my everyday journaling...

    This is an interesting and useful video! My first Kaweco is a mint Skyline Sport with an EF nib that works great on any paper but can sometimes be a bit scratchy. I love writing with it, I love the pen design, so I purchased the lavender Skyline Sport when it came out. I meant to purchase a F nib, and the box said F, but the nib says M, and it's a medium line. It feels so much smoother than the EF and shows off the ink more, so I kept it. Last week I ordered the Galen Leather purple Sport with a 1.1 stub nib which I'm looking forward to playing with since I do a lot of Italic handwriting and calligraphy. And last night I ordered the violet AL Sport from Goulet Pens with a F nib. Based on your informative review, I will probably order a BB nib to swap in and out, because that looks so fun to write with. I really love this ink as well. Thank you for another great video!

      You're welcome, Wendy! The Kaweco broad nibs are fun to play with. They make those under-saturated inks, that feel dry in most pens, enjoyable. I haven't tested than yet, but it's worth noting that since the broad nibs write so wet, the feed might have trouble keeping up in long writing sessions.

    It is a calming color. I bought a large clock with this color on it, cheap at goodwill! Your nib comparisons are great, and really point out just how we shouldn't judge an ink by just one pen. Have a great day!

      I recently got a brass Liliput. I love the extra weight, and find myself reaching for it much more than the aluminum version. Brass or copper are the only versions that I recommend in a pen this tiny. 😀

    Excellent video. I wonder why the medium nib on the sport did not perform well compared to the fine. The fine is quite dark in color. Both the F and EF gold nibs appear to be stand out for me though the broads performed well.
    Thanks for sharing. I missed your videos. 😊

      Thank you, Dash! Miguel explained here in the comments that because of manufacturing tolerances, there can be overlap in line width and wetness of the nib sizes. The dryness of the medium nib actually performs well with some of the inks I have that are excessively wet.
      It's good to be back making videos. 😀

    This comparison is interesting. I've purchased replacement nibs for my Kawecos, but never gone up to broads or double broads, maybe I'll try one of them in the future. I have had the same results as you in varying dryness with my fines and extra fines.

      Thanks Susan! It's nice to be back making videos. 😀 I had heard that Kaweco BB nibs were slightly stub-like, but mine isn't. I guess since my B and BB nibs are so similar I could grind one of them into a stub. 🤔

    Missed you Cathy! Hope your events are going well. Have you tried making a nib wetter? This was very interesting, I also have a 1.1mm stub that came with baby’s bottom. Still need to fix that. Would you say the gold nib is bouncy or very stiff?
    Btw this ink is gorgeous, I really like it! I noticed you never put a clip on your Kawecos, how do you carry them around? I want to carry my AL Sport but I also don’t want to scratch the aluminium body.

      Thank you, Valentina! We had the wedding and everything went well. Now I just have to help my youngest get ready to head off to college. 😀
      I have made a nib wetter before, and I've considered spreading the times on the Liliput EF, but now that I have some wet writing EF nibs, I may leave it the way it is.
      My gold nib is bouncier than the steel nibs, but not much. I don't think it's as bouncy as a Pilot gold nib, but I can tell the difference.
      I love this ink! 😍 I had been considering getting a bottle for a while and I'm glad I finally did.
      I worry about scratching the finish of my AL Sport so I ordered a pen sleeve from Rickshaw Bagworks. They make a sleeve that fits the Kaweco Sport perfectly, and I carry it in my pocket or purse.
      It's good to be back playing with pens!

    This was really interesting and helpful. I was glad to hear you mention that with longer writing sessions, you’ve noticed the writing getting more dry, and that the feed can’t keep up with the prolonged writing. That has been my experience with my Kaweco Broad nib pens. Your comments helped me understand what has been going on, and I’m just learning too that different inks work differently in different pens! 😃
    Your nails look nice… did you just have the wedding?

    • @gadgetstop321
      @gadgetstop321  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Gail! Yes, the wedding was this past week and everything went well. 😀
      The reason I started doing these pen and ink tests was so that I would have a record of how each ink performs with different nibs. I always refer back to my writing samples before I ink up a pen and it's made writing even more enjoyable.

    In terms of smoothness, is the 14kt fine nib smoother than the steel one?

    • @gadgetstop321
      @gadgetstop321  3 года назад +3

      The 14k gold nib is slightly smoother. Part of that is because there is slightly more bounce in the 14k gold nib than in the steel.
