In the spirit of the Dead, this is a major creative re-making of a classic. GD used to say 80% of their show was improvised. This is no tribute band. This is keeping the flame alive by jumping head first into the fire. Bravo, boys.
You can really tell the 5 people having the most fun at this show are the guy's putting it on.......the energy is contagious as hell...9 day's till the Denver back to back!
I really gotta check these guys out live next time they come by Chicago. Everything I've seen of theirs is wonderfully improvisational takes on great Dead music!
Kmartinpa: I just love Tom Hamilton. I saw him in a post of Kreutzman's birthday for the first time. With Billy Strings, a favorite. But just had to find out sho this other guy was that was doing such fine work. That !ed me to Almost Dead. What a fine group, and Hamilton still knocks me out.
So sad really , they try so hard, and now John Mayer comes along and show them how to play lead guitar, this is a sonic mess, playing the right notes in the wrong order just doesent work, and for all the Mayer haters out there, get you nose out of the bears arse and listen to one of the guitars wonders of the 2000's.
Guitar wonders of the 2000s? Opinions are cool and all but that is FAR from a true statement. I can name about 50 guitarists I would rather hear; Not ONCE have I listened to Dead & Co. and been blown away by him. But, of course, I listen to real guitarists like Jimmy Herring, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, John Scofield, Steve Sweeney, Taz (a kid), Jake Cinniger, Chuck AND Al from moe, et. al. Good music comes from a good soul. From what I have seen, Mayer has none. Or have I just been trolled? It's early.

Learn the lyrics, singer-man.
bob and jerry screwed up plenty of lyrics, its part of the live experience
Lolol don't listen to Dead & Co then cause Bobby misses half his lines
JoshDone the lyrics weren't even written by any of the band members. Great lyrics though
he won't miss a word of Desolation Row
Bobby and Jerry didn't write the words either

I agree John is a great lead guitarist but I bet you didn't know he learned how to play GD leads by practicing w JRad - so who's the hater now?

dude you're nuts. These guys blow Dead & Co. away
Sorry Keith, your opinion is slightly askew.
JRAD is its own thing. It’s not either/or, it’s both/and.
