I mean in hindsight, one of those kids looks like the one from the baseball team who beat him up. So yeah, not saying that Goob was in the right, but I'd be saying to that kid, "Cut the crap, f**k off.".

Not only that, he was so lost in delusion that he really thought that he was this close to bring down everything Lewis has built by using eggs and toilet paper. To top it all off, he didn’t even know how to use the damn thing. Now that, to me, is insane because what kind of villain robs someone else’s invention without having the knowledge of how it operates? Quoting Scar here, “I’m surrounded by IDIOTS.”

I’m surprised that literally no one talked about how Lewis’s invention is created because he was giving himself false hope after being rejected numerous times. Furthermore, I like how they emphasize the lesson that there is actually a benefit from failing. Personally, it would take some time for me to accept that because the last thing I want is to show everyone that I’m incompetent as a result to that. Another neat little Easter egg: if you pay really close attention to the sounds in the opening scene, and the scene where Lewis goes back in time to see his mom, you'd realize that they actually sync up perfectly, in that Lewis was the noise that spooks his mom, as well as the one who knocked on the door in the beginning, after he'd already done everything.

I really like this movie. My brothers and I love to quote the "Excellent" scene (which is why whenever I hear someone say, "Excellent!", I'm tempted to repeat it aloud like the frog does in this movie). Other memorable quotes are "Don't sass me, boy. I know karate!" and "It's just, I have little arms and I'm just not so sure how well this plan was thought through." "I could turn him into a duck! Yes, yes! It would be so EVIL! Wait, I don't know how to do that and I don't really need a duck." Whenever I watched this movie on Disney Channel/Disney Junior, I'd hide under a blanket during the dystopian future scene cause the Robinsons controlled by the Doris hats creeped me out. 17:30 Yeah, that creeped me out too. 17:54. Who knew that a bowler hat would be such a terrifying villain? Anyways, I once heard the song "Little Wonders" from this movie played at a swim meet and I think I was the only one who recognized that it was from "Meet the Robinsons." It cracks me up whenever people say "Keep moving forward" and they're not trying to quote this movie.

And if you have the capacity within you, consider older kids who are at risk of aging out of the system and NEVER having a family- unless they start one themselves (and who, given they are often emotionally stunted from feeling unloved and unwanted, and the damage the system can inflict, may not do so).

Idk why I was so cynical about these types of movies when I was a kid lol. A lot of movies with messages like this didn't resonate with me because I was like "it's a kids movie, it's going to have a cheesy, cliche message that you're supposed to learn" and I think I thought that was disingenuous. This movie aired on Freeform last week, so I watched it again for the first time in probably a decade, and it hits so different for me now, especially since I've experienced some hopelessness and uncertainty with being in college and comparing myself to other people my age, as well as desperately trying to improve at art and design.
The movie doesn't shy away from being a little ridiculous (maybe that's why it didn't get that much attention, its portrayal of 2037 doesn't even try to be believable lol), but somehow I thought the story was actually pretty inspirational. It is kind of a cliche message, but I love how it's all about how you could be at such a low point in your life and believe that everything would be okay if only something had gone differently, but you really never know what you could accomplish and who you could meet in the future. There will (probably) always be people out there who accept your quirks.

No I know exactly what you mean, these kinds of messages seem soooo cheesy and cliche to kids. But when you grow up and learn the pessimisms of life, those same messages start to feel hopeful-and like you said, inspirational!

Oooh a classic, this movie was great and kinda wild for showing such blatant bullying on the villain in a kids movie. Like you end up feeling bad for him in the end, at least a little. Tho, hes kinda dumb in the end lol.

So how did Doris stay in the altered future long enough to betray Bowler Hat Guy if Wilbur never invented her? Like he just says he won’t create her and that’s enough to be erased.

sophia you need to watch Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga’Hoole! i’ve literally never heard anyone talk about it, i only watched it for the first time a few years ago and was blown away by it! it’s an animated movie, definitely for kids, but as someone who was probably 17-18 when i watched, i loved it!

Interesting when you consider Lewis is basically an avatar of Walt Disney himself who had struggles but looking to the future led to the characters and stories etc we’ve grown up with.
Say what you will but the same applies with Asha in Wish.
Also the fact the memory scanner also acts almost like a movie screen…

So, it's funny you should mention Robots and Meet the Robinsons and getting them confused. See, Meet the Robinsons was based on a children's book by William Joyce who also designed the look of Robots. He also wrote and illustrated the books that inspired Rise of the Guardians and Epic.
