Sonia did not put it correctly. A lot of Pakistani Punjabi want to come to Indian Punjab to visit their ancestral village and land. Pakistani Punjabi do not want to permanently shift to Indian Punjab.
Tragedy of Punjab is that it was divided along with two other states Kashmir and Bengal. Muslim population was in majority in Punjab, Kashmir and Bengal in 1947 and therefore all three states along with the Sikh and Hindu populations should have gone with Pakistan. Punjab state in Pakistan would have been from Delhi border all the way to Peshawar. The partition tragedy would have not happened and the two countries India and Pakistan would have formed without any loss of life or land and property. British just wanted to leave India as their economy was bankrupt after World War 2 and the India Pakistan partition was a conspiracy by hardline majority of India and RSS Nagpur to weaken and subsequently destroy the Sikh community. Every one need to understand that this majority community leaders sacrificed hundred of thousand Hindus and their families in Punjab, Kashmir and Bengal to meet their goal of destroying Sikhism.

Lahore was never conquered by Ranjit singh truth was Lahore was given to him by the people of Lahore 13 Elders of Lahore invented him to rule Lahore well Remember 11 were Muslim among 13 one was Hindu and only one was Sikh

Correct Ranjit Singh was invited to Lahore and his rule was a majority Muslim rule where Punjabis ruled themselves and a time of prosperity for all. We Sikhs incorrectly term Ranjit Singh rule in Punjab and Jammu Kashmir as Sikh rule whereas the prosperity was because of the hard work of Muslim majority and also contribution by Hindu and Sikh minority. Kashmir and Ladakh was won over by Ranjit Singh army from the Afghans. Else the Kashmir in both India and Pakistan would have been today part of Afghanistan. Very few people know this that Ranjit Singh tried to bring Tibet which is in China today into Punjab. In 1840 Dogra general Zorawar Singh from Jammu under Maharaja Ranjit Singh set out to bring Tibet into Punjab like Kashmir earlier. Had General Zorawar Singh succeeded entire Tibet would have been under Lahore. Unfortunately the Tibetans took help from China in 1840 and General Zorawar Singh was defeated as the small Ranjit Singh army was outnumbered by Chinese. Tibetans paid a heavy price for taking help from Chinese as now entire Tibet is taken over by China and millions of Tibetans were killed in 1950s by China. Had Tibet become part of Punjab with rule from Lahore it would have become prosperous and Dalai Lama would never have to leave Lahasa and take refuge in India. After Ranjit Singh death Dogras turned traitors and sabotaged Maharaja Ranjit Singh army and the British took over Punjab. General Hari Singh Nalwa had warned Ranjit Singh that Dogras will backstab Punjab but Ranjit Singh could not take action as Dogras represented the Hindus in Punjab.

Correction:
Ranjit Singh ruled Lahore fort for 50 years whereas Mughals ruled this fort for 500 years, so it is not Ranjit Singh fort. Correct your history.
Lahore fort existed even before Mughals. And they ruled northern India for less than 250 years not 500 years.
