@@necropawit's also useful in extremely tall maps (often mods) since every time you have to shove 3+ platforms of 3 height, it becomes pretty efficient 😅
Beavers can build an infinite distance below them. You can create platforms from the edge all the way to the middle and build the cap from above the bad water. The beavers should build the platforms and the cap while staying above water.
14:30 You need the experimental to make an actual aqueduct that can bridge over rivers, so why not just do it? The experimental also have automatic sluices and it will be easier to transfer energy from the tower. We're you gonna save the new update for a later season or something?
More than that, in experimental mode you have acces to stackable vertical power shafts, the gavity battery he built could be connected in a reasonable amount of time with those.

Unless it's changed, beavers can build an unlimited distance downward, so you *could* build platforms out to the badwater source and build the dome without contamination.
Please go into experimental mode. Please remember that Beavers can build down vertically extreme distances and just make a bridge over the badwater for them to build the badwater cap
Btw might consider the installation next to the badwater Dome. That still allows you to extract the badwater and prevents it from coming out of the hole. The dome just seals it
Every Timberborners season :- Massive totally avoidable deaths Massive Super uper duper mega Dams High priority literally everthing Matt getting distracted or cocky and a massive adverse hit (like robot beavers , droughts etc ) We just love the banter nonetheless
2 things you should do: 1) Dynamite the overflow for the pond by the berry farm to allow it to fully drain, and put in a floodgate. That way, when a badtide hits, you can dump out the badwater and avoid your berries getting contaminated. Badtides only last a couple of days, and the berries will survive for 9 days without water, so that's probably a preferable result. 2) Add floodgates on both overflows for the main water source. When a badtide hits, raise the one leading to the main valley and lower the one off the back, allowing the badwater to spill off the map quickly without passing by your farms. When a drought hits, raise both to increase your storage capacity.
you'll need a bad water rig instead, so you can get bad water when the poocano is cleaned. also you can also just build platform and just build them from up top. no matter how deep below the building is...
Though unless Matt goes crazy with dynamite and terraforming, something he’s never shown any inclination towards, he probably will be fine with just what bad tides provide.
Please just go to experimental. Replacing the paths with power shafts one by one is completely insane. You can also use the 6x1 ( or other sizes ) metal platforms for the mega aqueduct and also the automatic sluice gates for bad tides.
Also seriously bro, look into sluices. They make dealing with badwater SOOOOO much easier. You could replace the dam piece near your blueberry fields with a sluice gate and set it to only open when badwater contamination is above, say, 5%. You won't get any water, but it'll help your crops keep longer. Likewise with your primary water source at the top of that small hill there, you can have sluice gates pointing off the map and another set of gates feeding into your village. If you set the one leading off the map to open above 5% contamination and the other to close above 5%, all the badwater will be directed off the map rather than into your water supply. Another interesting thing: Floodgates control the water level BEHIND them, sluice gates help control the water level IN FRONT OF them. You can use that to build reservoirs that slowly leak into your waterways to keep them topped up during droughts. Hope that helps. Edit: Oh you're still playing in the Release build. I've stuck entirely to the Experimental build lately and thought they'd already released it proper. Advice still applies once it rolls around, though!
If you make the skyscraper a rectangle, instead of the architectural shape it is now, you can build all of your horizontal power shafts on one side of the tower and have the path on the other. That should save a lot of time in deleting paths for a couple of shafts.
Now that you have dynamite, you could make irrigation holes for your crops so you don't need to relly on the turn of the tide. Blow a big hole, dump it full of water and BAM.
they dont work as well anymore. single blocks only water a small area around. a 3x3 hole though should give the full irrigation since 3 is the minimum for full spread.
Barracks, lodges and other buildings pass power along, even if they don't require power. You could pile houses on the side of the tower to get the power down instead of building shafts one by one.
So a few tips about beaver builders: They can build up to one tile above them, but can also reach every single tile under that. If you have the ladders mod, for example, building UP requires you to put 2-tile-high platforms on one side of them, but if you're trying to get down a cliffside, even if it's 5, 10, 20 tiles down, you can build it from the bottom up, since the building is below the beaver. So for that poocano, you can easily have them safely build the badwater dome by having platforms reaching up to just above the badwater levels. Despite being way higher up than the dome, they can still reach it. Don't ever have to go into the badwater if you plan carefully x) Hope it helps m8
If you were in experimental and used the new sluice blocks, you wouldn’t haven’t to manage your floodgates for bad tides. Sluice gates do it automatically if you set it up right.
Hey Matt! If you build platforms over the poocano to the pop water source for the cap then the beavers won’t get contaminated. They can build infinity downward. Also you should use the bad water rig and not the dome so you still have access to poo water for your centrifuge and explosives.
We NEED the experimental mode. It would make everything so much easier and also the shafts and the Megaqueduct(TM) would look sooooooo much cooler. Also if you're feeling cheeky you could use the space below the Megaqueduct(TM) to shame some beavers in the shadows or just put a WheelOfShame(TM) on top of the PowerTower(TM) (please call it like that) for some architects. Or put a rooftop terrace up there for the Beavles... Endless possibilities! Also keep up your videos! I really enjoy them!
I made a Mega Aqueduct before the experimental. It was great. It provided water to both sides of the map. It was the canyon map, tho, so it basically was a giant double wall at one side of the map, with platforms in the middle, but it did its job. Most of the map was green. It also had 4 water exits: the main one (the original one), 2 that went to one side each, and a 4th one that dropped water out of the map to the same side it came from (for badtides). It looks a lot better now that it's a propper acqueduct thanks to the update, but I'm still pround of the original desing. (It has also ben automated now.) Since yours goes through the middle of the map, and it's gonna take waaaay more materials, and be made in one go, I would suggest you to wait until you can use the new platforms and new stuff before designing it. For now, focus in the power tower and the volcano. (And build more builder's huts, please. It takes them hours to walk up so many stairs, and up a mountain, uphill both ways.)
You're underestimating the determination of beavers. Just because you didn't put a connected path to the stairs down the poocano doesn't mean it's out of reasonable reach of a path's end for the beavers. I can't say for certain, but I want to say that beavers will act on a certain block radius off any path they're able to access that's connected to their district and is within relative reason. Like I've had beavers in 2 different districts cross the district crossing on either side to pick up resources from things I deconstructed around it. Like a group from one side was crossing into what would be the other district's territory to grab stuff, and vice versa and it wasn't like 2 or 3 blocks distance. It was like 12-15 blocks. So even though you didn't have a connected path to the stairs down the poocano, I suspect your builders still saw a job to be done within a reasonable distance from a path connected to the district and did what they could. You've inadvertently already caused the Incident 3.0 official.
Another trick I like to do is place a single dynamite on each tile of pathway, run water through the resulting channel, pop in some power lines, and cover em up with a platform and a path. You can actually connect buildings to the power system from underneath, so all you have to do to power something in a nice, orderly way is to bomb out a single tile underneath where you're building the building, place a horizontal to vertical power shaft, and build the building directly on top of it. Simple, efficient, and it looks organized! Mind you this is just how I play, just some tips, if you prefer some other way, noooo judgement here.
After all this years matt still have no idea that you can build down no matter what the height, so he could use platform to build the tap to the badwater Noice
25:14 if you start building at the bottom and let it slowly fill up with water as you go, would beavers be able to swim to all parts of the aqueduct alleviating the need for all the extra levies?
Beavers need pretty close access to whatever they're building, unless they are building from above, they won't stray more than 10 tiles away from the path to build, and they will stay at ground level when going on paths (or land) through water.
Hey, beavers can build from above! Consider building a bridge and then sealing the bad water source. Also there is a bad water extractor, wich seals the source and extraxts a lot of badwater.
You can use buildings to transfer power. Meaning you can build narrow houses vertically to the top of the tower. So you don't have to replace the stairs.
Build a platform above the poo water. Beavers will build down below without getting into the water. When the platform gets out to the cap, they'll build that without going down either. They can always build down, an infinite amount, without having to go down to the same level in order to build it. They can only build up by one block.
Farms! Make them bigger. Put a stair besides them, so one farm can reach multiple levels, instead of an extra farm (19:25) And remove the path that goes to nowhere. Plant sunflowers!
Hey RCE, you can build from high to low So I'm pretty sure you can just build platforms above the poo-cano water and have the beavers "dump" materials into the bad water seal thingy When they're done with materials they can build it from up above as well
Everyone else is telling you you can build a platform out for the beavers to build the poop plug without your beavers getting sick. You need some sluices heading off the map and screening your megaaquaduct.
Can’t wait to see the Megaqueduct if you can build that tower and a few megadams you surely could find a way to do the aqueduct. You could try to make it like a bridge over the valley if you can do a waterproof floor. At least you won’t have to block off half the map that way and it should look pretty nice where you put it.
Mr. RCE, Maybe instead of capping and filling the poocano with water install a tall narrow dam around the bad water discharge. And have a small aqua duct to remove the overflow. Like a donut with a large water exterior and a small chocolate center. That way you can still have access to the bad water for late game and have a plenty of water for your colony.
Make sure you have space for the gravity batteries on either side so they don't get interrupted by roads. While you're at it bomb out the ground beneath them as low as you can.
I remember making a late game super gravity battery that had like 3 million horsepower capacity at its highest and to make it most space efficient I had the staircase up to the top placed inside it then converted to where the axles went up to the top. Deleting each individual path and stair was EXCRUCIATING because you had to do each one at a time cuz if you clicked and dragged in the slightest it also selected everything else above it… Needless to say, in my going on autopilot, I had to reopen the save several times after deleting the tower halfway down multiple times. I was so done with that whole project afterwards that I went to the games “make a suggestion” feature, relayed everything I just said in way more detail, and suggested a “quick place on stairs and paths” type feature where you can select times where you don’t need to delete these to build on top of them. The ticket I made for the creation of the feature was put on “in consideration” a week or so later.
I just binged all 8 seasons of Timberborners. I gotta say, Matt, your heightened skills in the later seasons are impressive, compared to S1. You make a great beaver god. "Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make" - RCE, probably
@RealCivilEngineer Why dont you build the aqueduct out of platforms like a real aqueduct and just build a channel on top of a platform bridge. So your beavers can walk under the aqueduct.
The beavers can build 2 levels above them & unlimited below them. So, build a platform or bridge over the bung, above the badwater. A single wide path down the middle.
rce, you can use Metal Platform too make the floor of the mégaduct and add a few levee to bring the water like Roman aqueduct. I love Timberborners ep :D
23:08 I was confused how the beavers were getting contaminated, then when he looked over the pit, I knew instantly. (I also predicted that the cut off path wouldn't stop the beavers from building that! I don't blame him fully, that is an insane distance for them to register) Also I've watched the past 11 episodes today!
Hi RCE. I love this game and the way you play it. I haven't played a game in 10 years. You made me install steam and buy this game today and now my daughter is also playing it. Just wanted to say thank you and to the devs of this game.
I'm waiting for the moment when RCE realizes that he will need badwater later and that he won't be able to fill poocano with normal water and use the badwater source in the same time until next patch (or experimental)... :)
So far as the aquaduct goes, why not build a support structure with the platforms and build the channel/trough with levees? It would take a fraction of the resources and have thr same result. Edit to add: I did the same as you with the gravity batteries, but I built the core first and used scaffolding around the exterior so the builders could access the gears and platforms. It also made it easier to build the platforms for the gravity batteries themselves.
@RealCivilEngineerGaming for the vertical power shaft you could just use some tall buildings stacked on top of each other. no need to use them for something else. the high aparment from the Iron Teeth is for example perfect for that. Yeah, its expensive in logs, but you dont have to keep track of it at least..
And that is why you build the power tower out of living quarters. They transfer power between each other. Yes, also up and down. Also, I wonder if he will read the comments telling him that the beavers can build down infinitely and he could just put platforms above the waterline before he drowns them all in the poocano.
I think upgrading to experimental might be what you need to do. if it were only the power shafts, you could get the mod that added them originally, couldnt you? but with the mega aquaduck it seems upgrading is more sensible
19:49 Remember your units.... Engineering is about unites 😂. You need 150 hp for 3 hours to make 1 stick of dynamite. That is 450 hph. 98000 hph in the battery. 98000 hph/450 hph ~= 217 sticks of dynamite. (Good thing there is no losses in the transmission of the power in this game 😂)
You can just block the contamination using the block around the water source. You'd still keep your barries around the pond. You should prioritize the wind farm. They have access issues you should take a look at. Then, add more storage and production for did and wood. You should make a stockpile before building a mega project. If you want some example, check out how skyestome is building his projects. You need to make the beavers happier before you can do megaprojects. (Happiness increase workspd and life expectency)

After all this years matt still have no idea that you can build down no matter what the height, so he could use platform to build the tap to the badwater
Noice
25:14 if you start building at the bottom and let it slowly fill up with water as you go, would beavers be able to swim to all parts of the aqueduct alleviating the need for all the extra levies?
Beavers need pretty close access to whatever they're building, unless they are building from above, they won't stray more than 10 tiles away from the path to build, and they will stay at ground level when going on paths (or land) through water.
Hey, beavers can build from above! Consider building a bridge and then sealing the bad water source.
Also there is a bad water extractor, wich seals the source and extraxts a lot of badwater.
Best day of the week!! Timberborners Friday!!!
5:50 I'm sure that will make some problems with contamineted Beawers in future- but really soon.
Put a stair besides them, so one farm can reach multiple levels, instead of an extra farm (19:25)
And remove the path that goes to nowhere.
Plant sunflowers!
Hey RCE, you can build from high to low
So I'm pretty sure you can just build platforms above the poo-cano water and have the beavers "dump" materials into the bad water seal thingy
When they're done with materials they can build it from up above as well
Face reveal??? 17:57
I thought so too
Or is Matt trolling us
That is Brad Pitt lol
I saw that and SPRINTED to the comments. Almost got me to sign up for the news letter, too bad it's Brad Pitt.
Please keep this season going with the beaver nation getting happier and happier as the megaquaduct is built
Everyone else is telling you you can build a platform out for the beavers to build the poop plug without your beavers getting sick. You need some sluices heading off the map and screening your megaaquaduct.
You don't need to sacrifice any beavers just build platforms out to it above the badwater.
Hope this series gets 1000 spin-offs! I love the combination of both RCE and Timberborners!
Mr. RCE,
Maybe instead of capping and filling the poocano with water install a tall narrow dam around the bad water discharge.
18:13 petition for Matt to refer to them as posh planks again
I remember making a late game super gravity battery that had like 3 million horsepower capacity at its highest and to make it most space efficient I had the staircase up to the top placed inside it then converted to where the axles went up to the top. Deleting each individual path and stair was EXCRUCIATING because you had to do each one at a time cuz if you clicked and dragged in the slightest it also selected everything else above it…
Needless to say, in my going on autopilot, I had to reopen the save several times after deleting the tower halfway down multiple times.
Maybe timberborn should implement an elevator mod. Also the new update added vertical shafts
@RealCivilEngineer Why dont you build the aqueduct out of platforms like a real aqueduct and just build a channel on top of a platform bridge. So your beavers can walk under the aqueduct.
17:54 face reflection???🫣
5:35 just build a bridge
Yesss but it's going to take him 3 episodes the realise
Love the Timberborners series I’ve watched all seasons in less then two months 😅
I don't know about anyone else but I wouldn't judge you for going into experimental mode to run the power shafts.
A engineering Newsletter? Now THATS the type of Newsletter i want to get weekly
23:00 the unconnected stairs are in range of the end of the path
Oh man, you know you dont have to kill beavers to build. You could just make a pathway on top of the sludge. They can build straight down.
the fact that its not 100k power bothers me more than it should
NGL i watch for the unbridled chaos this series is, i keep wanting to give you tips but I'd definitely play this way if i was going in blind
The beavers can build 2 levels above them & unlimited below them. So, build a platform or bridge over the bung, above the badwater. A single wide path down the middle.
RCE not knowing you can build off the end of Bridges...such an architect... lol
22:57 the first set of stairs going into the poocano is probbably in building range and the went to build it
rce, you can use Metal Platform too make the floor of the mégaduct and add a few levee to bring the water like Roman aqueduct.
I love Timberborners ep :D
23:08 I was confused how the beavers were getting contaminated, then when he looked over the pit, I knew instantly. (I also predicted that the cut off path wouldn't stop the beavers from building that! I don't blame him fully, that is an insane distance for them to register)
Also I've watched the past 11 episodes today!
Hi RCE. I love this game and the way you play it. I haven't played a game in 10 years. You made me install steam and buy this game today and now my daughter is also playing it. Just wanted to say thank you and to the devs of this game.
Matt being an architect for the 999th time:
the power shafts wont work in the skyscraper, not enough room for them to turn
I’m into marketing and I saw the change of todays video.
It’s great keep on going.
I’m also a fan, you are great!
Matt/RCE UK Election Who Did You Vote
You are insane! 😂 I love this series. 😊
I'm waiting for the moment when RCE realizes that he will need badwater later and that he won't be able to fill poocano with normal water and use the badwater source in the same time until next patch (or experimental)... :)
May I recommend you build a Herbalist so you at least have the antidote. But also listen to the other comments and build platforms pls :)
He built one one or two episodes ago, he mentions turning it back on in this video.
for a moment i thought there was a face reveal on the youtube play button photo, but then i recognized the face
Not me getting all excited at 17:55 about the face reveal.... before realizing lol 🤦♂
Experimental mode ! Experimental mode ! Experimental mode !
Soooo..... why are you doing the massive levvy instead of using the overhangs? as overhangs woulld leave the underneath usable?
The overhangs are experimental only at the moment.
he is running U5 not u6
@@chadmckean9026 AHHHHH! We gotta wait for the next season for overhangs! gotit!
Get some bots togo down there and plug that hole!
The beavers can build Down from any height you can build platforms out to the bad water source and build the dome from above the surface.
And that is why you build the power tower out of living quarters. They transfer power between each other. Yes, also up and down. Also, I wonder if he will read the comments telling him that the beavers can build down infinitely and he could just put platforms above the waterline before he drowns them all in the poocano.
I think upgrading to experimental might be what you need to do. if it were only the power shafts, you could get the mod that added them originally, couldnt you? but with the mega aquaduck it seems upgrading is more sensible
the commitment! to build the corkscrew shaft
isn 't vertical power shaft available now in game ? why not build that from back side of tower ? they can build from each floor easily ??
19:49 Remember your units.... Engineering is about unites 😂.
You need 150 hp for 3 hours to make 1 stick of dynamite. That is 450 hph. 98000 hph in the battery. 98000 hph/450 hph ~= 217 sticks of dynamite.
(Good thing there is no losses in the transmission of the power in this game 😂)
you can use the holes in the map to pump freshwater in. More green spots to farm on.
My favorite series is back with another episode!
