You are wrong. You can surrender with a proof that another country will offer you citizenship and your are willing to acquire it. Just like India, many countries do not allow dual nationality. They want to see your surrender certificate before issuing their registration certificate. I was myself 'stateless' for a month in between but it's safe as inviting country is bound to accept you as a citizen.

You are wrong. You can surrender with a proof that another country will offer you citizenship and your are willing to acquire it. Just like India, many countries do not allow dual nationality. They want to see your surrender certificate before issuing their registration certificate. I was myself 'stateless' for a month in between but it's safe as inviting country is bound to accept you as a citizen.

Indian government surrender certificate requirement is copy of oath certificate of new citizenship or new citizenship certificate copy, also copy of new passport (the day you take oath you become citizen of the new country. 5000 is in INR. Consulates in Europe are charging 117 Euros ( around 9k INR) per application, it could be even more for applicants from USA/UK/AUS. Of course, but India is running those consulates and renting high value properties and officers need to be paid accordingly to local standards.
