I’ll be honest I’ve avoided these videos but I’m watching yours. There is no way that many albums have changed my life. Sure enough you address this right away.
Casino Classics looks very interesting.. Northern Soul is gonna be difficult to buy singles.. So I will stream some to have a go at it ! "In The City" was my first Jam record as well, but not until the early 90's for me to get into Paul Weller's stuff. I like what you said about the Ramones and Steve Jones with many others being turned on to them when they broke ! For me, certain albums were definitely life changing, hence the reason I did a response to this one. Cheers, Mike 🎯
It’s was so cool to see those zines Mike! It’s an aspect of punk that is very interesting to me. Cool patches too! For me half of in the city is incredible, the title track, art school, I got by in time, but one of my all time favorite jam songs is away from the numbers, it almost sounds like it could be on the first Elvis Costello album to me!
This is amazing, I’m a sucker for punk & skin stories from the ones that live it from the beginning, your expression when you mentioned Toyah was priceless haha. Northern Soul clubs are Fun and Ramones saved the world indeed!!! Cheers Oi!
Tighten Up would’ve definitely caught my attention at they age 😂 Trojan was an incredible label. I only expanded my Slade collection last year. Until then I only had Slayed. Great band. Didn’t realise how much I was missing out on. I have a few Northern Soul comp’s but don’t know that one. Great collection of patches. Ramones was a game changer….thankfully. The Jam are probably a bit under appreciated in the hard rock/Beatles VC. Wow a Clockwork Orange credit to Walter Carlos & not Wendy. That’s so cool you were in those zines. So many great records & memories Mike.
Great. I got sent home from school for wearing black n white Jam shoes , I came back in a pair of black n white bowling shoes . ( Proper Rebel lol ) . We all tuned into the Scooter Boy scene as time went on with a love of all things rebellious and alternative. From Reggae, Ska, Punk, Oi ! , Rockabilly, Mod Revival , Metal , Soul.. A mixture of everything..There is still some young new bands around now I’m into . “Sharp Class” “Kid Kapichi “ that hold up that British sound n attitude. “Amyl And The Sniffers “, Australian punk band ,check out the track “Freaks To The Front” All good stuff..All the best from North London.
While I definitely have a soft spot for the studio side of Tell Us The Truth, I bloody love That's Life. Absolutely classic, life-changing concept album. Great T-shirt, too, Mike.
That's one helluva musical journey Mike. I think Slade changed a lot of lives in the UK back in the early seventies. They were one of the first bands that I could relate to. The memorabilia you showed was fantastic, especially your own fanzine. Enjoyable video. Cheers...Mike
Great interesting stories. Really liked the badges and your fanzine. It would be hard to pick 10 albums, but maybe 3-5 albums have had so big influence that those changed my life...
That was great Mike, I was aware that several of those bands were big to you. Slade would be huge in mine to. I was expecting to see Laibach and I didn’t quite appreciate how much the Ramones were an influence on you. Excellent video. Mike
Hi Mike great response , I didn’t restart this thread I just saw people doing it and jumped in … I knew we’d see the jam , slade toyah.. interesting that you started a fanzine .. I liked the line you bought singles or drugs!
First sighting of the Jam for me was on the tv show MARC (marc bolans music show, Aug - Sept '77, they planned a second series but he died). The Jam were on the first show singing 'All Around The World'. There were some cracking bands on those shows, some are still among my favs today, eddie & the hot rods, gen x, radio stars, even hawkwind

Can't believe you had The Riffs album at the end. Was a big fan of that album, played the album to death, back in the day.

I can't argue with any of these, Mike! Your collection continues to impress me 🙂

Mike, as you know, l love Laibach and Industrial music but to me it's just Post punk, as is Goth and indie.
