I mean, it quite literally is. They just took the attacks from it and gave it a special ability and called it a day.
Yes, yet before this update it used to be far, far inferior. It didnt have a lot of cleave, and the damage was pathetic on those that it can hit. The special attack could be juked by a single poxwalker (think slave rat); the blessings were mediocre save for a few. Thankfully this update made them much more usable.
@@sturmmagnunstein1008 it felt like when they failed to bring the hammer a new design they thought themselves like "lets go back to basics and if its not broken dont fix it" just revived it back from the VT2 lol
@@barancanpolat2390 they somehow didnt know how to make a good thunderhammer. Yknow im beginning to think perhaps the old combat designer leaving actually helped a lot of weapons get better...

I had no probleme with Bolt pistol with my vet build but damn its better now and i didnt enjoy the thunderhammer before, now its just what i need

Watching this basically made me want to buy this game right away! I've never played a Warhammer game so I have to ask would you all say this video is a good representation of what the game is like? To me it kinda seems like Risk of Rain combat w/all the kiting and identifying the biggest threat on the screen before cleaning up the grunts.
This game is not at all the same as RoR. Well, a lot of concepts are going to be similar but how you go about it is different. First of all, movement is 2 dimentional in darktide. Second, there arent items to pick up through out levels to power you up. Third, the focus is largely on the melee, despite what some psyker and veteran mains will tell you. Finally, movement and defence are keys to staying alive
@@sturmmagnunstein1008 I see what you’re saying. Do you have to level up characters? Or do you just unlock new abilities and from there skill can carry you to a win? Still, the main thing that seems awesome to me is managing the hordes even if I can’t do it with a gun. In RoR2 movement is important too, arguably the most or second most important thing to understand. All in all though, I think based on your description I’m gonna pick it up. It’s on sale and everything.

Yes. You gain levels in the character you're using and more recently the weapons you were using.

In time, you unlock character abilities according to your level and weapon upgrades that turn your basic penal soldier to an enlightened example of the Emperor's Wrath.

@@michaelthompson2363 if the gameplay loop suits you you will quite literally become a slave to the swedish fish. As much as long time fans hate them, they are really the only devs who mastered first person melee combat. Just be glad you joined now and not two years ago when the game was in a very, very rough state.
I also love thunder hammer! Still figuring out bolt pistol though.
Lethal Proximity and Run n' Gun turn it into a revolver that hip fires incredibly well and gives up some damage for the ability to stagger entire groups with single shots. It still feels kinda clunky if you try to use it as your primary weapon but god damn it makes a great quick draw special killer and CC machine to support melee focused builds.
Have you tried crit dueling blades on zealot yet? So satisfying and strong.

I've stopped playing for almost a year, is this a good time to comeback? I saw some updates
The new itemization update is really good and all the pain from the rng is almost all gone so you can def get the blessings and refinements u want on your weapon. As for the state of the game and someone who has same as you came back after not playing for a year i am greatly enjoying my time. The game is what it should be at launch right now even though it took them 2 years…but still i would say yes its worth jumping back in
@@Cookiemuncher-vn4rl Nice! I've been playing helldivers 2 in the meantime, but I love darktide. The lack of content was what made me take a break after 700 hours, but I'll download it today. Great to know that we finally have something done about the weapons
What masteries did you take on the weapons?
It doesn't matter because you can max out the masteries on every weapon, he likely has all of them maxed out.
Just when you think you're starting to get good you see a video like this and realize you're a scrub! LUL
From 7:00 to 9:00 you can see how useless the thunder hammer is to clutch against bosses that are not alone. On paper u have the best melee weapon to delete bosses, but on reality it's so slow that the cc from the boss won't let you land a single hit, so choco ends up using the bolt pistol to kill the ogryn lmao. It's so frustrating, the hammer should have a shorter wind up/ charge time, and a larger self stun time.
Looks like you're asking a weapon to be perfect at EVERYTHING, which is kinda unreasonable. FIghting boss alone is always scuffed, no matter what. Plus, it's not like fully-charging thrust TH is the only way to deal with it yknow xD. Hell, it may take a bit, but if you just heavy spam you probably won't have to worry about getting swarmed by chaffs cuz of its superior CC.
Tbh, Plague Ogryn's charge is almost a guaranteed knockback so it's kinda less about the Thunderhamer being "useless" for that sitch. If you think that is too big of an issue, honestly just light-special spam probably works too or something.
@@sivel7493 thammer is already pretty bad against hordes, so it wouldn't be a perfect weapon.
@@machomanmacho141 honestly I cant even imagine how you could consider it "bad at horde", is there even a melee out there, aside from Ogryn's, that can cleave through +knocking down more enemies than TH lol.
As someone who has 2.7k hours, I find it hard to fathom this. Unless ur trolling.

@@sivel7493 and here comes the authority argument of "I'm a lvl 1000 zealot so I'm right". I have seen lvls 90 play better than lvls 1400, so that means nothing to me. The thammer is bad at hordes because it's slow as fuck, so any other zealot weapon will be easier to use against dense hordes, you don't have to compare it with ogryn's melee.
According to you, the thammer is good against hordes and bosses, and now I ask you: why does it have such a low pick rate (even after the buffs), and the higher lvls (+1000) only play speedy zealots with knifes, axes, and other fast weapons?
