At 37:02, when Engarde asks Phoenix to feed his cat...I, for some reason, love how big of a troll he is there. Sending him to exactly where Maya is held and yet Phoenix has no idea...
im pretty sure he trolls you in another way when phoenix gets a call from the receiver and Matt is curious of what it was. Phoenix responds, "oh it has nothing to do with you", and Matt said "i think your nose grew larger".
the reason the psyche locks didn't appear with matt is because matt hired an assassin. "he" didn't do the job "himself". so "he" did not actually "kill" anyone. so he was telling the truth in a really twisted way.
Yeah, he wasn't "keeping" something from Wright because he "technically" is saying the truth. Like that can be an issue, the Truth revealer can be tricked by technicality.
@@rsj2877Tbf Matt didn't lie during any of his talks with Phoenix while in the detention center. @whoisthisgit You actually encounter De Killer again... in the second Miles Edgeworth game which is not currently being considered for export. DAMN YOU CAPCOM! Now, to the more serious stuff... The reason that prosecutors can look over the police investigations while defence attorneys can't in the PW Games is actually pretty simple... and terrifying... ...It's the way the justice system actually works in Japan. As in, the one in the real world, the one that isn't part of a game. See, the Phoenix Wright games were originally conceived as an elobarate parody of the actual Japanese justice system. The purpose of the games, apart from providing entertainment, was to point out some of the more serious flaws of the system and show its inherent dangers. Hence, in the Phoenix Wright games, as in the real Japanese justice system: - Judges are all-powerful, and literally hold the defendant's life in your hands. - Prosecutors very often precide over the police investigation and give directions to the police. - Defendants are presumed guilty and the onus is on them to prove their innocence. - Up until the time the Apollo Justice games were made, there were no jury trials. - Even now, a jury trial is very rarely done. - Prosecutors are highly respected, well paid, and often have elaborate lifestyles. - Defence attorneys are considered the lowest of the low (in fact, Phoenix Wright would be considered a superstar among defence attorneys with his sort of track record). All things considered, it's no wonder Japan has a 95% conviction rate. Don't get arrested there. Even if you are innocent you WILL most likely go to jail.

What make this was one of the most scary bad ending is that there's no ending song like other whoisthisgit video. Like, the bad ending really make not just the watchers, but also whoisthisgit himself feels the bad ending. This game really are one of Nintendo gems.
Gosh, I've never played the Phoenix Wright games, but I've watched the videos and I've gotta say, no game in my life has caused my heart to stop on so many occasions. This video for sure, I was waiting the whole time for the "bad ending" but by the end of the video, I almost didn't want to watch it. I did and now, I'm almost broken down. That ending was almost worse than an ending where Maya is killed, mostly because of all the lives destroyed by Phoenix's failure, his own life is also hinted at being destroyed as well, and it wakes us up to the reality that the bad ending could very well have happened in the real world, a killer getting away with murder and that's 'the end" no do overs, no miracles, no nothing. That ending was definitely very deep, far deeper than I ever expected of capcom. and while I'm sure eventually Shelley may have found out what really happened, since this case was about 2 attempted suicides, who's to say that Phoenix... But in the very least, the future games seem to run off the good ending right? So that means the good ending must be the canon one right? Still, when you end a game on that note, it almost begs the question of "What would the world be like after that event?", but then I look out the window and there's my answer, "Duh...the real world." How depressing.
Yeah. Thank God there's useful things like Berserk Buttons. Ol' Shelly was already a hire whose job involved blackmailing Phoenix by kidnapping Maya, right? The hypocrisy on Engarde's part shouldn't really be surprising.
Many don't know this but Phoenix Wright is based on alot of Japanese Law, how Prosecutors are represented in the game having the power to do almost anything(Prosecute,Order Police etc) actually have that power in real life
It's also based off an old Chinese legal system. You only have THREE DAYS To prove your client innocent. THREE. WHOLE. DAYS. Like the Chinese legal system I mentioned. They're similar.
Good God, that bad ending was depressing. I personally think that Capcom should do more things like this in future PW:AA games. Even though it smashed my heart into a million pieces, it really adds a lot of depth and really makes you think. Personally, I think EVERY case should have some sort of aftermath like this, because for me it always felt somewhat anticlimactic when those doors slam shut as a simple game over if your client got the guilty verdict. Who else agrees with me?
Dual Destinies's last case has multiple bad endings, as well as i think the last case of Apollo Justice, but I haven't finished Trials and Tribs yet so I'm not sure about either of those 2 games. (Yes I played DD before AJ and T&T)
Ben Eustis i wish if they ever make the last PW:AA game pheonix could retire live his days in peace but see all the criminals he brought down but older and at the end of the game he passes and gets greeted by mia in the after life ( last case would pprobablybe like 40 years ahead)
supernova4point0 SPOILER WALL They're not direct endings, You have to run out of health at certain parts to get them. If you run out of health before you prove Blackquill's innocence,Blackquill gets executed, Trucy and Aura will disappear, and Phoenix gives up life as an attorney. If you run out of health before you prove Athena's innocence, Aura will kidnap her. If you run out of health before you prove the Phantom's guilt, the dark age of the law slowly gets darker and darker.
I do not know how I managed to watch a video that long to the end. I love just seeing the stories of games I didn't play shortened like that (even though you could have shorten it a little more). Specially games as deep as this one, and both bad and good endings. Good job as always, Adam.
I thought that it was better to say "Not Guilty", since then not only would you "make De Killer end his contract", you'd also "make Engarde want a Guilty verdict from the bottom of his soul", fulfilling both of the options Mia presented you. To each his own, though.
If the bad ending was canon, then Apollo would've been our only hope. And considering he's no Ace Attorney, we'd have no hope of victory against people like Manfred von Karma. Those who are obsessed with winning to the point of evil.
That´s why i love Justice of All even with this failures and some Nitpicks. It was my first AA game and his ending make a huge hit on me, as Von Karma in the first game.
@5:09 - That definitely sounds alot like what John Adams did when he took up the case to defend the British soldiers in the aftermath of the so-called; "Boston Massacre"; regardless of his own personal beefs or political/social stances, John Adams felt that the facts and a fair trial is what mattered more than feelings or opinions. Even though Phoenix Wright is a fictional character, I respect him alot for willingly taking up the case to defend a guy who's pretty much been a thorn in his side, rather than choosing to throw him to the wolves.
"I might even prefer her to Tails...." Well, exactly ONE of these sidekicks is the subject of a mini-series your channel has that is devoted to laughing at their expense.
So Phoenix Wright is now in your gallery of bad endings. I was curious if you would do it, someday. Now, can you try to play and record 999 (Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors)'s?
MarioBiggestFan 999? true, the Axe Ending is sickening, and the knife and sub ending can catch someone by surpirse, but honestly, Virtue's Last Reward has much more to offer
That part had me on the floor. XD Oh man I'm SO glad this game had it's comic relief moments. I swear if it didn't, it'd be way harder to swallow the "bad endings".
Who, I really have to thank you so much for getting me into this series. Without you, I can safely say I would continue to dismiss it off as a novelty, instead of really appreciating this great series.
To be honest, even before you created this video, I was 200% sure that you would refer to that ending. It creates feelings so strong, that it is impossible to ignore or forget.
Actually I would love to have another case where Phoenix or any other main defense attorneys in the series loses because of the truth. Although it may break people's hearts, defense attorneys don't always get lucky having to defend someone who is merely framed in reality. Choco Tammy They did actually sorta do that in one of the cases in Trials and Tribulations where you get to play as Mia. SPOILERS... It's the constant fake-outs and the points that lure you into thinking you're headed for a bad ending, whois. And THEN you're given only one chance to turn it around and the pressure on you is at its maximum.
1:07:40. I don't care how badass or cold-blooded you are, if you shed a tear at that moment you get a free pass. That's a freakin' moment right there.*sniff*
+Robert Stotlar The Butler Did It is an old Trope which people thought was overused, (though it wasn't really used very often before its mockery) and has become a running joke among mystery fans.
OMG You did soooooo well with the summary! i never played the game till I watched this! wonderfull when I played it i watched this again everything was right in your summary Great job!
This is one of my favorite games. This 1h+ video was awesome, really made me remember the times i played that courtroom-load of awesomeness (y) Love this series of bad endings videos (not the bad endings), i think you are the most intense indie gamer! keep up good work And yes, modern games need better sets of scenarios, bad and good endings!
I cry tears of sorrow pain and joy in this storyline because of you. Why wont you let me mash the like button on this Especially when the music changes and you show Edgeworth accused at 5:01 Im crying right now poor Edgeworth Why wont you let me like this Have you noticed typing Creepy b into the youtube bar makes it go to creepy bad endings 36 those are your followers doing that
Nice Video, Especially since you went out of the way to explain the game mechanics and the entire case. The bad ending doesn't have the same impact unless you understand what exactly happened and how it affected the characters and story arc of the game. This is the only Bad Ending in a videogame which genuinely made me feel like a horrible person for screwing up (well, except maybe Majora's Mask). I glad you took time to explain this. (*unrelated note:* While I understand why this game is the least liked out of the original trilogy, This case and the soundtrack redeem it slightly for me.)
Justice for All was a good game but Trials and Tribulations was just fantastic. The background story, the perfect culprit and prossecutor rival, the links of all the cases culminating in to one last intense trial. Just perfect.
Now I remember how I felt for the whole 4th case. It was way too intense! I felt exactly like Phoenix. I felt bad, unconfortable, scared, sad, angry, happy and scared. One of the best moments of my life
I swear I missread the title like Crappy bad endings and thought "how can he say PR Justice For All is crappy!". And then, after suffering all that emotional roller coaster again, I read the title again and said creepy. You're totally right, Phoenix's bad endings really feel like a kick in your heart. When I got to that chapter I didn't sleep until I finished cause I wanted to save Maya so badly T-T
Oh wow Git, I'm so happy you did this! The Engarde case is my fav so far in the games, and I really wanted to know what happens if you screw it, since I got the good ending, but I was too coward to check the bad ending. Now I've seen it, and it broke my heart. Even after playing the game and only watching you play now, I was stressed. Anyway, now I want to play again XD
As a lot of people are pointing out, there's the Apollo Justice Bad Ending... but then there's also one more, for case 5 of the first game. There's a point where Phoenix is asked to show evidence, which can end up incriminating his client if shown too soon.
Oh man i was NOT expecting this, well i was at SOME point but i did not think it would come around now oh and you should put a warning for spoilers, not everyone has heard of this game and might not want the story being spoiled, just a friendly advice :)
Git I wanted to say to you that prosecutors have control of the police because they are hired by the state, that controls the police too, defense lawyers are particularly contratared, and being so they don't have the power over police
What does "Shoe is the Yua of this game" mean? (Text that flashes up at 1:08:13) Also, no 'The miracle never happen'. Clever of you to record the version where it's corrected ;) That typo just seems to ruin it.
+whoisthisgit. ....wow. i never thought of it that way. Shelly de Killer as a evil version of Phoenix Wright. I thought of them as similars but not the different sides of the same coin. I like it. I would LOVE to do a video with you, that being said. You are very intelligent. I really like that, being intelligent myself.
47:45 Did phoenix have a Manford Von Karma Moment? "So? I have my credit card number as 0001 but that could just be mere coincidence because i'm number one!" Manford
When I realised the Engarde was the in the guilty party, my whole mind and brain exploded a thousand times over. It was the first time I saw a mindfuck moment in the Phoniex Wright series
One might think what Engarde did to himself after he lost was gruesome. But honestly, after all the BS and amounts of luck-pushes, aided by absurd turnarounds, I was actually wishing him to dig his eyeballs out, too :I
Haha at "Shoe is the Yua of this game"! :D I see you still haven't gotten over Yua but it's OK I understand how you feel. Similar feelings happened with me in the final season of the Original ThunderCats when Tygra was ditched on Third-Earth like he didn't matter. Seriously it didn't make any sense! Not only was he one of the main characters but he was a pretty important one when you consider he's next in command to be the Lord Of The ThunderCats if/when Lion-O dies! Plus he built their home for goodness sakes, they wouldn't even HAVE a home if it wasn't for him but to hell with that let's all sod off to New Thundera to live happily ever after without him! What finally did it for me was the fact he didn't even appear in THE final episode! Not even a cameo OR a mention, graaaaah still annoys me to this day! Sorry for rambling a bit there but this was the best "Yua" type scenario I could come up with relating to you. Methinks Yua, Shoe and Tygra should all just team up and start their own little club, I'll even fund it for them! ;)
I've been through a lot playing this game. That case pissed me off because of Engarde but it was satisfying at the end :3. The later ace attorney games are awesome like the one with Godot(very intense) and Apollo Justice(Kristoph is frightening and the most disturbing and creepy character in the game, if you played it, you'll know why ._.)
O-O I just found a "Ghost Trick" thing in it. "Ghost don't have voices, they communicate by thoughts". Mia can read Nick's thoughts. Yes, she is in Maya's body and stuff, but she's still dead..
13:26 And B, we've got all this, like, evidence, of how, like, this guy didn't even pay at the hospital. I know! And I'm all, 'you've gotta be shittin' me!' But check this out man, judge should be like [bangs fist on table] 'guilty!' Peace.
I've read that the reason prosecutors in the Phoenix Wright series are held in such higher regard than defense attorneys, and why they lead the police in investigations, is because that's how it really works in Japan. Of course, there are definitely plenty of things in the series that aren't based on reality, so my source may be wrong.
Just a little nitpick: Your text comes and goes too fast, I need to pause repeteadly to finish reading in this video. At least if you try to look what the characters are saying. EDIT: Also, there is some weird glitch in the text around the 30 minute marker
What are your thoughts on Dual Destinies? I loved it but I felt it was too easy, they gave you the answer too many times, the only time I was surprised was during the DLC trial. "For once! Everyone lives!"

+Robert Stotlar The Butler Did It is an old Trope which people thought was overused, (though it wasn't really used very often before its mockery) and has become a running joke among mystery fans.

Shoe is the yua of this game!
Lub Lub...thats the first time i've ever seen you cry...
This video is why I'm an Ace attorney fan now! :D
OMG You did soooooo well with the summary! i never played the game till I watched this! wonderfull when I played it i watched this again everything was right in your summary Great job!
This is one of my favorite games. This 1h+ video was awesome, really made me remember the times i played that courtroom-load of awesomeness (y)
Love this series of bad endings videos (not the bad endings), i think you are the most intense indie gamer! keep up good work
And yes, modern games need better sets of scenarios, bad and good endings!
I cry tears of sorrow pain and joy in this storyline because of you.
Why wont you let me mash the like button on this
Especially when the music changes and you show Edgeworth accused at 5:01
Im crying right now poor Edgeworth
Why wont you let me like this
Have you noticed typing Creepy b into the youtube bar makes it go to creepy bad endings 36
those are your followers doing that
Thank you for using the European version of this game for your clip.
The "bad ending" doesn't have the same impact with the US version's typing error.
***** The spelcheck never happen. (Yes, I did it in purpose.)
This is the best hour and 14 minutes I've ever spent on anything AA related!
Of course, Gumshoe gets evidence and crashes -____-
"Oh Gumshoe!"
*PHOENIX WRIGHT WAS FILMED IN FRONT OF A LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE*
Ah yes thank you for making a video about my favorite series.
And then Phoenix played the piano for the rest of his life until dual destinies
Actually until Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney.
Stan Ho He also drank... Em... Grape juice, yeah.
One of the best moments of my life
I just realised, after watching a bunch of these episodes i now have no real need to play a few of the games that Mr. Git is talking about.
I know that this is Phoenix Wright with its story and all. But I feel that this is one of your best creepy bad endings up to date.
GG
Oh, look, a slightly better translation!
"The miracle never happen" kinda kills the mood set in this particular cutscene.
I hope you will talk about the other bad ending of the PW series in another video.
I shrieked with excitement when I saw the thumbnail.
"Shoe is the Yua of this game!"
I KNEW I SAW SOMETHING THERE!!
10:28 Gumshoe is a hotel hallway?!
Oh man i was NOT expecting this, well i was at SOME point but i did not think it would come around now oh and you should put a warning for spoilers, not everyone has heard of this game and might not want the story being spoiled, just a friendly advice :)
Good point, its like 2 am here so im kinda tired and just...bleugh and losin my mind a bit
...That's a joke that writes itself.
I never would've thought that capcom would make Phoenix wright so dark at times 0-0
Git I wanted to say to you that prosecutors have control of the police because they are hired by the state, that controls the police too, defense lawyers are particularly contratared, and being so they don't have the power over police
At the mark of 40,my head was getting dizzy from all the shinanigans.
What does "Shoe is the Yua of this game" mean? (Text that flashes up at 1:08:13)
Also, no 'The miracle never happen'. Clever of you to record the version where it's corrected ;) That typo just seems to ruin it.
When Phoenix had his head down and his hands on his head that animation scared me a bit too.
I loved when Edgeworth changed. He turned into an epic good guy and that's why the investigation games were so good.
Does anyone else think Whoisthisgit exploded with joy when he found out about the Phoenix Wright & Professor Layton crossover? Or is that just me?
You guessed right, and the game comes at in the UK before the end of the month. I can barely contain my excitement.
whoisthisgit There hasn't even been a release date announced for the US...lucky Brits :P
The Short Vlogger True,true...*smokes weed*
I heard it from the wiki, the wiki knows all.
Fatty Fat Pusheen SMOKE WEED EVERYDAY!!!
One might think what Engarde did to himself after he lost was gruesome. But honestly, after all the BS and amounts of luck-pushes, aided by absurd turnarounds, I was actually wishing him to dig his eyeballs out, too :I
Geez Engarde, you didn't need to go ballistic!
Ryan Sample
Shows how screwed he was that the BETTER option was an ugly defeat he would have deserved for his shit.
Yeah. He's super insane....
He's basically totally fucked anyway you look at it! I can't blame on that break down!
I mean what if you were in that kin of situation!
Do a "creepy moments of Ace Attorney" too, if possible.
I can name some of them.
Dahlia's breakdowns.
O-O I just found a "Ghost Trick" thing in it.
"Ghost don't have voices, they communicate by thoughts".
Mia can read Nick's thoughts. Yes, she is in Maya's body and stuff, but she's still dead..
Good to see the Lub Lub info.
Lol phenoix's face!!! 3:18 he's like
"Ew....dude why?"
Farewell, My Turnabout. My favourite case :).
And thus fanfics of ace "Courting" Andrews where born
Dual Destinies has some pretty creepy bad endings, too.
Wow. That video really got to me!
(It takes a lot for a game to do that...!)
Never noticed that before. That shit is fucking deep.
13:26
And B, we've got all this, like, evidence, of how, like, this guy didn't even pay at the hospital.
I know! And I'm all, 'you've gotta be shittin' me!' But check this out man, judge should be like
[bangs fist on table]
'guilty!' Peace.
"I'm such a genius!" Seriously Maya...
I've read that the reason prosecutors in the Phoenix Wright series are held in such higher regard than defense attorneys, and why they lead the police in investigations, is because that's how it really works in Japan. Of course, there are definitely plenty of things in the series that aren't based on reality, so my source may be wrong.
Andrews... Poor Andrews... Innocent but yet the most guilty of them all
Shawit Looks like the Happy Mask Salesman from Majora's mask XD
Just a little nitpick: Your text comes and goes too fast, I need to pause repeteadly to finish reading in this video. At least if you try to look what the characters are saying.
EDIT: Also, there is some weird glitch in the text around the 30 minute marker
It's a video that's over an hour long to begin with.
You are too slow ( :D ) at reading!
Genius phoenix wright 🔥
What are your thoughts on Dual Destinies? I loved it but I felt it was too easy, they gave you the answer too many times, the only time I was surprised was during the DLC trial.
"For once! Everyone lives!"
Brought back some great memories. :D
gotta catch em all
all the breakdowns
*Sigh* Let's get going...
Easily my favorite part of the whole video
