@@Yolomanning18 What do you mean by original? Dobie Gray's amazing 1973 soul version wasn't actually the original. John Henry Kurtz's 1972 country rock version wasn't the original either! Uncle Kracker's 2003 version is certainly not the original haha. The original was recorded by Clarence Carter in 1970, but I am not a big fan of that version.

Sure wasn't much applause for a great song and a great cover. You have best type of voice for that song. Not taking anything away from Dobie Gray...who put this song on the map. But I'm thinking you probably heard Uncle Kracker's cover before the original considering your age. The song explains why we listen to music. Music written about music. I love looking for covers of my favorite songs. They usually bring the right touch to the lyrics. Thank you. Great voice. You deserved a bigger applause. Maybe even some whoops and hollars.
