I pinch ALL my barbs down for bass. That way if I hook then in the eye or the body I don't take chunks of flesh out with the hook. You can hook a fish in the body with no barb and not even cause it to bleed. It works for the way I gorse them in but have lost a few due to no barbs, but mostly little ones.
