I was expecting a simple port of the game, but this is so much better! Square Enix truly made an effort to improve a beloved classic. They've really modernized and enhanced the original by adding more battle mechanics, a revamped world map, and even fishing for crying out loud! I can't wait for this release :)
This is a bit of a port, somewhat - it's based largely on the PSP remake rather than the original version of the game on PSone.
True, but it look a LOT better than the PSP. Portait are finally beautiful (I can't stand the PSP character portait art) and the battle system seems so much more fluid.
Just played the demo of it and yeah, it is definitely something that I wasn’t expecting for any rpg game. Truly the benevolent ways of improving the game :D
@@DragoonMS That makes zero sense. It is either a port or not a port. This is definitely not a port or a "bit of a port" of the psp version.

Also the Symphonia remaster suffered heavily when it was confirmed to be forced locked to 60fps
I played the demo last night and I was sold within a half hour. The game is absolutely gorgeous!

I’m so excited for this game! I’ve heard great things about the original and I can’t wait to experience this remake first-hand! The combat system looks cool and the music is amazing!
I've played every version including the Japanese release in 2016. What they've done to this game has brought back my hope in companies making games again lol.
I was already sold/excited to relive a beloved classic. But now seeing/hearing all of these additions/rebalancing/improvements, I can't wait to get my hands on this game!

Honestly I'm kinda scared cuz that animation stop allowed rena to heal just in time before you get whacked. It's gunna be a lot more fast paced lol

This is amazing, I remember playing the original as a kid and got all teary eyed. Thanks Square Enix for this amazing remaster, day one purchase for me.
This remake could revitalize the star ocean franchise
Star Ocean 2 has always been the peak of the series, but all these crazy new bonus features (which are definitely from the later titles) have officially taken it beyond that peak, beyond the stars, and into the next universe. I can't wait to enjoy Claude and Rena's adventure all over again.
The map is the biggest and most welcome addition, so is the instant switch between normal and P.A mode.
As that was soo annoying in first departure, as you litterly had to go put to the world map then go back in.
Seriously can't wait for it, as SO2 has always been and will always be my favourite
SO2 story always simple yet mesmerizing. quite unique battle system back then. maybe the only game that introduce a talent that steal npc stuffs lol

So minor spoilers but to me it sounds like the PSP voice actor for renas mom
that's because it is. the game is reusing the PSP voice acting for the English dub
This game was amazing when it first came out. Picked it up on a whim for my PlayStation and later found out it was a rare game, and a bit of a cult classic! Anyway, here's hoping they do something similar with Suikoden 2, which remains the best ever of this era of RPGs!
The Suikoden 1 remaster looks great, here’s hoping it does well so they consider it for 2!!
Umm, the remaster is both games, that's why it's title has Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars because it's 1 and 2 respectively
Suikoden-related note If you're unaware of this... check out Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes which is out in April next year; it's the "Suikoden" that cannot be called Suikoden because the original creator is no longer with Konami and they didn't have rights to the IP
Suikoden II is awesome but not the best of the era. I'd still take Final Fantasy VII and IX over it...I'd take Xenogears over it.

The original was one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I've beaten it four times with four different endings so far. Looking forward to many more

But Im doing it as research, I've uncovered tonnes of changes etc so far for my upcoming videos ^^

The english VA for Claude is OG Shinji. Shinji is now the voice for Claude.
Am I supposed to know what Shinji you're talking about? Because the first that comes to mind is Ikari Shinji.

I've played every star ocean except the damn GBA one and I can say for a fact it has the best everything. Story, combat, how you level up skills, and maybe crafting because they changed it -_-

I don’t understand why they did a great job on this game but square enix completed neglected Valkyrie profile games I just can’t believe it! Also please can someone make a remake of legend of legaia this game was a masterpiece and I just can’t phantom how they are sleeping on a remake.

I’ll try the demo and leave general impressions later. Hate to sound weird though because the current Switch hardware seems to be experiencing some frame rate issues for this and many other recent releases. I’m hoping if the next machine is backwards compatible for most of the original’s lineup there should be a patch to bring Second Story R up to 60 fps like on Playstation consoles.
*Edit* Second Story R on Switch runs very smoothly, believe it or not.😊 Still I wouldn’t recommend to anyone if they only plan on playing it on PS5.

Square Enix learning from Monolith Soft. Sounds like they're drawing from Xenoblade for unique areas, & Endless Frontier for the call-in attacks.

I’ve never played this game before, but a video game giving the player an option of which voice acted they want to voice each individual character sounds either over the top or ground breaking, but I can’t decide which. Imagine if they did that sort of thing for movies - you could have the option of, say, Morgan Freeman voicing Jackie Chan’s character, or vice versa
