The surface imperfections of poured bars make great identifiers in case of theft. If you photograph these then you can use it for insurance identification. Just like a serial number but you can't scrape off the contours of a poured bar.
I poured my first bars age 15 in the 80s. The technique s are various and results even more interesting. However you have to say star wars has come to town with the new induction cast bars and low vacuum provides a high quality product. Both old and new provide joy to the community of stackers investors alike
What do you think about buying hand poured silver bars from eBay sellers? I took a chance and won a 58.5 g silver homemade hand poured bar. The seller has an Excellent selling record, so this was his first pour. I just don’t know if there any Impurities in there, I won it about 6 under spot. I think I only won it because the auction ended in the middle of the night , so I think my Competition were sleeping. Lol Thanks for the video my friend, Cheers
Poured has an artisan quality attached to them. I especially like bars with heavy pour lines and are of correct weight because it takes an awful lot of skill to accomplish. That all being said, I’m predominantly a stacker as opposed to being a collector. So it has to be something pretty special too me, for me to pay an exorbitant amount over spot.
I think it would be cool to see them make bars and rounds at the actual mint they make them at from start to finish. Very cool and informative video as always.
Sal, I found this to be a very interesting video, something I did not know about bars. I realize I just ordered a cast bar yesterday that I thought was a poured bar. Heraeus Edelmetalle is the name of the bar I ordered yesterday, it is beautiful, but now I know it is not a poured bar.
Thanks for the insight Sal, very interesting. Epiphany for me is that the bars / coins show the accuracy of the metal in them (999, 9999, 99999), but there is a lot of inconsistancy on the actual amount of metal in them, they just stamp them with 1oz, 5oz, 10oz ... but if you weight them they could actually be off by a decimal or two: 9.99 oz, 10.01 oz (realizing that stamping to that level would be near on impossible). Also, I've seen a few folks in here pouring their metal, but how do they know they actually have the right amount ... I know when I pour the last little bit of milk into my tea in the morning from the carton, emptying it, there's always trace amounts still left in the jug. Thoughts? I ran out of milk this morning, and going to use that opportunity to go buy a few coins while picking up a jug of milk (the bullion dealer is right across the street from my local market).
Sal, I found and bought a Hoover & Strong vintage 5ozs silver bar from my LCS for $125, I cannot find any info about this bar, do you know anything about it, I think it is rare due to the lack of information.
Some people poured into mold that are made for cast . cast process wastes more energy & materials . poured is cheaper to do, melt silver/gold heat mold poured to mold . DONE .

I ordered one of those 10 oz nadir silver bars on September 29 from from liberty co as of now I still haven't gotten it I had to file a missing mail case I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they find it.
I recently received at separate times two Nadir and two Highland Mint 10 oz silver bars from Liberty. That is four separate shipments. I received them without a problem. I will say on another shipment from a different seller the package took three weeks after the expected delivery date to finally arrive. USPS is not always efficient in prompt delivery of packages.
@@packerbacker69 So we have 5 orders and only 4 received. 80% isn't a good record. If I don't get my orders within 10-14 days from anywhere, including Bullion By Post in UK that has to clear customs, I'm not doing business with them again.
@@thorlin3826 it can be nerve wrecking I was thinking what if it were a $500 or $2000 gold coin and the seller isnt responsible they put it on usps and you know there no help.
@@thorlin3826 . The seller is not responsible for when you get it. The is responsible for how quickly the item is mailed. After mailing the delivery service is responsible for how long it takes for the mail to be delivered.
I have a super ugly Englehard 100oz. bar that one end is not trimmed but you can see it was put together in many layers of thin sheets.Does anybody else have one of these ugly ducks?
Sounds better than some 100ozt OPM bars I have. They look like they were cut off a long plank with a chop saw and weight finished with an angle grinder. It's still silver though.
@@thorlin3826 apparently that is how the Englehard bars are made too Robert.I think mine must have been the bar at the end of the plank. You can see the individual thin sheets that the bar is made from. You are correct,it’s ugly, but silver it is.
Poured bars have that more rustic look of silver. I liked both types of silver bars. Both are different.
💙 it’s all GOOD no matter how it gets shaped!
Great eye candy on this video.
Yep, Uncle Sal never seems to disappoint with that 😁😍!
Very true, don’t forget the bars that are machined like the Scottsdale Stackers;)
The surface imperfections of poured bars make great identifiers in case of theft. If you photograph these then you can use it for insurance identification. Just like a serial number but you can't scrape off the contours of a poured bar.
I dont have any poured ones, yet. However I have several cast ones. I like the Germania cast bars. Non-transitory preservation of wealth
I collect the mat finish poured silver bars. Particularly SilverTowne and Scottsdale. Thanks for the video.....
I had no idea there was a difference ! Thanks for the lesson, you keep teaching me something new all the time !
Cast or poured, It's all silver to me!
I like that Sal doesn't wear gloves, neither do I.
As far as I am concerned, gloves are only needed for handling items with numismatic value. When it comes to Bullion pieces, silver is silver.
Would make for a good video topic
All my shoes and glasses...so i have them.
The bars I have are 1 oz. Don't think I ready to step up to the big boys just yet. Fun post Sal!
Always wondered about the difference. I like the cast bars.
Ahhh…always wondered what the difference was. Thanks Sal

Awesome! I love that wrench from plumber stacker!
I like the look of the baked silver bars. Also the poured bars with their natural security features (cooling lines).
Cold fold shouldn't be considered a good thing
In the 60s and 70s, I used to hand roll my Gold from Columbia
👋 sal always a pleasure to hang out and listen to you slurp my friend and love silver art pours

Silver .999 is silver .999.. Let’s go Brandon
Wonderful video my friend. My personal preference is a poured bar, but love them both.
I think it would be cool to see them make bars and rounds at the actual mint they make them at from start to finish. Very cool and informative video as always.
!(: Thanks again, for sharing your AWESOME stuff Uncle Sal ;)!
Thanks for that explanation. Good to know!
I like All Silver, I have a preference for poured Silver and its unique character! Keep on pouring and stacking!
That dragon bar is SWEET ⚒

I like the chunky size bars.
Sunshine mint 100 oz.are cast and then machined so when you stack them they lock together
My 10 year old son loves the cast bars I like it all because it's silver
SAL Good Morning , I sure like theses' Loaf or Poured Bar's :-))
I like them both.
As long as they aren’t fake…
I like the cast bars better!! Great video 👍🏽🤩
That wrench 🔧 is cool!
I would be happy to own either kind.

They can weigh them afterwards to see if they got it right. Using 999 shot is best
Love these informational vids!! So much to learn as a new stacker! Thanks for sharing!!
I like both for sure.
Anytime metal is melted and put into a form it is considered casted.
Another great video, thanks Sal!
Yep, I believe I have enough rounds. Time to focus on the bars.
I am responding to your comment verbally on a live stream at this very moment!
I like both . But Poured bars cost more
Pouring molted silver imto delft clay is casting. Hence the term.sand CASTING
I prefer *Pressed* or struck Silver bars more than cast or poured.
If you melt silver down and pour it into any mold, you are casting
Interesting. I don't own any silver bars. I wouldn't mind having some stacker bars though.
Very interesting! Thanks
What about the billet bars that are machine cut and designed to stack ?
Worked foundry for years and didn't know
Because this is bullshit. Ig you melt metal it is cast. Period. You can pour it or melt it in the cast either way it is cast
No difference both have high premiums
Thumbs Up and Algorithm Food ☑️🐾🐾
Thanks, I have known how shot was used.....
Cast bars 👍. ALGO FOOD FOR SAL
